PM @ ESC Lille CIMAP International Centre for Project Management and Analysis The "CIMAP " was created in 1979 at ESC Lille to join a number of previously established training, research and consulting activities in the field of Project Management and Analysis into one organisation. Professor J.P. Debourse, inspired by his activities with Regional Agency of Development, and with the help of Roger Declerck, brought together a number of experts from major international institutions, multinational firms and from the French, American and Canadian academic world. 6
PM @ ESC Lille These experts created new programmes on the basis of programmes and activities already existing at Vanderbilt University in collaboration with the World Bank, the US Agency for International Development, The Canadian Agency for International Development and the United Nations Programme for Development. One of these projects adapted to structural characteristics of Europe was institutionalised by J.P. Debourse, R.P. Declerck and C. Navarre in 1980 as a university master degree programme (DESS) at the Institute of Administration of Entreprises of the University of Lille. A major undertaking of the " CIMAP " in the early 1980s was the training of more than 350 Moroccan managers in project management. This led to a vast programme of re-structuration of the Moroccan government s administration largely financed by the World Bank, US-AID, the French government and the UN Programme for Development. During the same period on the basis of previous work, Professor Debourse developed the MAP method (Management and Project Analysis) by creating several MAP Rooms in France and abroad. Numerous books, computer software packages and simulations were produced using modern multimedia techniques. 7
