Partnership Opportunities Community Pet Days

About Community Pet Days Health and family togetherness focus of Community Pet Days Recognizing that responsible pet ownership can present some financial challenges along with the joy animals provide, the Chicago Community Pet Coalition will be conducting three Community Pet Days to help pet owners in need in the upcoming months. At each event, the Chicago Community Pet Coalition, made up of three animal rescue organizations ALIVE Rescue, One Tail at a Time and New Leash on Life- Chicago will provide services such as microchipping and vaccinating pets, as well as supply flea and tick medication, spay/neuter vouchers, collars, leashes, harnesses, food and other items to families who may have difficulty caring for their pets. Families experiencing behavior issues with their dogs can get help from trainers present at each Community Pet Day. The consequences for not tending to these basic health needs include more strays, unwanted litters, sick animals and subsequently higher healthcare costs to treat them, and, ultimately, a lot of heartbreak when lost pets can t be found or pets have to be given up, which may lead to an increase in euthanized animals. The Community Pet Days will be held in the Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods.

About Chicago Community Pet Coalition (CCPC) All three Chicago-based rescue organizations know that families and pets are happiest when they can stay together. After seeing so many heart-wrenching situations where families can t afford to care for their beloved pet, and therefore have to give them up to shelters, ALIVE Rescue, One Tail at a Time and New Leash on Life - Chicago decided to team up to prevent any further heartbreak from occurring. In March of 2014, they formed the Chicago Community Pet Coalition (CCPC) to keep animals healthy, happy and in the homes they love. One Tail at a Time, is a no-kill, 501(c)3 all-breed dog rescue that serves to lower euthanasia rates in the greater Chicagoland area and provide education on the humane treatment of companion animals. The rescue concentrates its efforts on dogs that are in danger of being euthanized, or those that are physically and/or mentally deteriorating in a shelter environment, works to rehabilitate them, and then matches each dog with a permanent home. Focused on keeping pets as a part of our family, One Tail at a Time offers fosters and adopters continued support and education on how best to keep dogs happy, healthy and bonded for life. Learn more at www.onetailatatime.org. New Leash on Life - Chicago is an entirely volunteer run, nonprofit organization committed to finding loving homes for shelter dogs who might otherwise be euthanized. Through our adoption, foster, training and education programs, NLOL Chicago addresses the nationwide issue of pet overpopulation and the importance of spay/neuter. We also tackle local concerns, such as the threat of breed-specific legislation (BSL). The mission of NLOL Chicago is to provide consistent advocacy for those forgotten animals to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Learn more at www.nlolchicago.org. ALIVE Rescue is an animal rescue that protects the lives and the rights of animals. We believe every animal has the right to a well-balanced, socialized and fulfilled life. We take on the responsibility to save, rehabilitate and place abandoned, abused and stray animals. We provide medical, behavioral and physical support for animals despite their age, health and/or breed. ALIVE Rescue promotes sustainable living and care giving by building awareness, appreciation and respect for all animals and the environment within our communities. Learn more at www.aliverescue.org.
