Description James Hardie manufactures an extensive range of fittings which are intended to provide maximum flexibility in the design and installation of stormwater drainage systems. Application As an integral part of the HardiePipe stormwater drainage system, HardiePipe fittings allow design flexibility and quick installation without sacrificing strength or durabbility. Features HardiePipe fittings allow a pipeline to: Change direction Join multiple lines Introduce branch lines Connect to other pipes with or without turnings. This flexibility of use allows for considerable time savings during design and installation. Cost of construction is also minimised, as the need for pits can be reduced or eliminated. Bends, junctions and saddles are available in Class 2, while SuperTite to Unturned Adaptors and Unturned Couplings are available in both Class Two and Four. Fittings can also be manufactured to meet individual onsite needs, including those in large sizes (ie: 525mm to 750mm). NOTE: Please ask James Hardie on 1800 659 850 for delivery timeframes and terms and conditions. STORMWATER PIPES & FITTINGS 8 2013 PRODUCT INFORMATION BOOK

SUPERTITE COUPLING Supertite couplings are used as standard couplings for the SuperTite range of pipes and fittings. The SuperTite turning is a standard spigot on the pipe or fitting, with a SuperTite coupling used with dual nitrile V-rings to provide a high integrity connection. Pipe Diam. Unturned adaptors are used with both Supertite and HardiePipe in underground applications. NOTE: Supertite joint to unturned adaptors are not to be used in above ground suspended applications. Installation Details 1. Cut the end of the pipe square with a dustless or wet masonry saw 2. Fit an O-ring to the cut pipe and roll up and down the barrel of the pipe to take the twist out of the ring. Position the ring as close as practical to the cut end of the pipe 3. Do not use lubricant as the O-ring must roll along the pipe and not slide 4. Position the adaptor squarely over the O-ring 5. Using a bar and block of timber push the adaptor squarely onto the pipe. NOTE: To reduce wasting pipe when using fittings, use the off-cut immediately after the fitting by using another unturned adaptor. * 225-450 are available in class 2 and 4, ask James Hardie on 1800 659 850 for other sizes. HARDIEPIPE REDUCER HardiePipe reducers are an economical method of changing the pipe size in stormwater lines, often eliminating the need for a pit. To reduce more than one diameter size the installer must use multiple reducers; for example to reduce from a 375mm pipe to a 225mm pipe the installer will require a 375mm to 300mm reducer and a 300mm to 225mm reducer - these reducers will fit inside each other. HardieAquifer Swale Pits Description The innovative HardieAquifer Swale Pit has been designed to allow the integration of roof water from dwellings and other impermeable surfaces. Application Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) concepts typically require effective means of stormwater reuse for residential and commercial subdivisions. Design principals for WSUD take into consideration an efficient solution that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also cost-effective. The slotted pit body and outlets allow for the disposal of surface runoff from the road reserve and then infiltrate into the absorption trenches. When the rainfall is in excess of the infiltration rate, it diverts the excess to firstly the absorption trenches, and in heavier flows combines with the surface flows along the grassed swale. Features The Swale Pit can be provided in a variety of configurations to suit a range of design conditions. There are two typical swale pit configurations. The first is a Discharge Pit which has a 150mm PVC inlet and 150mm PVC outlet facility, and has a two piece body to allow for rotation of the inlet and outlet. The second is a Surcharge Pit which has only the one 150mm PVC inlet. The Swale Pit is based on a 300mm nominal diameter pipe body with 5mm x 290mm slots. SYSTEMS & SOLUTIONS Description The SlimDrain Drainage System is designed for a safer road surface. Safe and cost effective Eliminates vehicle hazards through surface water Provides a smooth bike safe surface. Using a continuous or semi-continuous narrow grate, the revolutionary SlimDrain helps eliminate dangerous surface sheet stormwater commonly found on roads or large paved areas. This ponding effect can cause loss of vehicle control if surface water builds up in the roadway. This can be a problem with traditional pit and pipe systems. Application The SlimDrain drainage system can be utilised in a number of different methods: Invert of kerb Against median barrier Line drainage in car parks and driveways Spill containment. Features The SlimDrain inlet is a galvanised metal grate with a standard opening width of 48mm. This bike-safe design includes two longitudinal bars with an opening of 14mm. Combined with HardiePipe concrete pipe with its high chemical resistance and excellent flow characteristics, SlimDrain is not only able to provide outstanding hydraulic performance but is highly durable and long lasting. SlimDrain is available with different grate configurations, to suit a range of installation conditions. 20 2013 PRODUCT INFORMATION BOOK

As the underlying structure of the SlimDrain Drainage System is the SlimDrain concrete pipe, there are no special installation techniques required. Achieving consistent line and level is simple with the 4m pipe lengths, and if there is a requirement for a curved installation then 2m pipes can be supplied to achieve tighter radius curves. The quick alignment design of the SlimDrain grate allows tool free adjustment of finished surface level, simply by inserting a steel pin in the appropriate adjustment position. SlimDrain Grates Width Depth Product Code Drainage Capacity Length (m) SlimDrain Drainage System has excellent hydraulic performance and will typically operate as a weir in most flow situations, changing to orifice flow as the depth of flow increases. The following equations and blockage factor recommendation are derived from the Qld Urban Drainage Manual Vol. 1 2nd Ed 2007. Q = SlimDrain inlet flow per linear metre Q (weir) = 1.66 x BF x h 3/2 Q (orifice) = 0.1014 x BF x h 1/2 NOTE: Weir flow calculation assumes single side flow. HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION WARNING DO NOT BREATHE DUST AND CUT ONLY IN WELL VENTILATED AREA. James Hardie products contain sand, a source of respirable crystal line silica which is considered by some international authorities to be a cause of cancer from some occupational sources. Breathing excessive amounts of respirable silica dust can also cause a disabling and potentially fatal lung disease called silicosis, and has been linked with other diseases. Some studies suggest smoking may increase these risks. During installation or handling: 1 Work in outdoor areas with ample ventilation; 2 Minimise dust when cutting by using a dust-reducing circular saw attached to a HEPA vacuum; or using suitable wet cutting equipment to suppress dust; 3 Warn others in the immediate area to avoid breathing dust; 4 Wear a property-fitted, approved dust mask or respirator (e.g. P1 or P2) in accordance with applicable government regulations and manufacturer instructions to further limit respirable silica exposures. During clean-up, use HEPA vacuums or wet cleanup methods - never dry sweep.
