2 Professional building drainage with the opti-drän system Why building drainage To make a house comfortable, it needs a dry footing. Building components that are in contact with soil, such as the foundation slab or the basement, are often exposed to different types of water ground water, seepage water, strata water, etc. If water col lects around the base, it will eventually damage the house. Statistics show that 90% of all structural damage to basements or to the foundation slab are caused by moisture penetration! A functionally reliable drainage system drains the damaging water that collects around the base thus protecting the building. 3 How does drainage work? Drainage pipes take in the water that collects around the base and route it to the lowest point of the drainage pipe. The complete drainage system can be inspected and, if necessary, be flushed or rinsed. The transport pipe (outlet) drains the water that has been collected at the lowest point.
