WSP: Working steam pressure. 1.02 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Manufacturer s catalog sheets and specifications for each valve type. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 VALVES - GENERAL A. Valve Standardization: Valves from one or more manufacturers may be used, however valves supplied for each specific valve type shall be the product of one manufacturer. B. Valves shall be first quality, free from all imperfections and defects, with body markings indicating manufacturer and rating. C. Valve parts of same manufacturer, size and type shall be interchangeable. D. Manually operated gate, globe and angle valves shall be of rising stem type, unless otherwise specified. E. Valves which use packing, shall be capable of being packed when wide open and under full working pressure. F. Size valves the same size as the piping in which they are installed, unless specified otherwise. 2.02 BALL VALVES A. Type BV: 150 psig WSP, 600 psig WOG, 2 piece bronze body, solid blow-out proof stem, teflon seats, chrome plated brass ball, teflon seals, corrosion resistant steel lever handles with vinyl grips, balancing stop, and threaded or solder ends. Where optional materials are specified indicate option selected. B. Quality Control Submittals 1. Brazer Qualification Data: Copies of certification; include names, home addresses and social security numbers of brazers. 1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualification of Brazers: Comply with the following: 1. The persons performing the brazing and their supervisors shall be personally experienced in brazing procedures. Solder: Solid wire type conforming to the following: 1. Type 3: Lead-free tin-silver solder (ASTM B 32 Alloy Grade E, AC, or HB); Engelhard Corp. s Silvabrite 100, Federated Fry Metals Aqua Clean, or J.W. Harris Co. Inc. s Stay-Safe Bridgit. B. Soldering Flux for Soldered Joints: All-State Welding Products Inc. s Duzall, Engelhard Corp. s General Purpose Liquid or Paste, Federated Fry Metals Water Flow 2000, or J.W. Harris Co. Inc. s Stay-Clean. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Install piping at approximate locations indicated, and at maximum height. B. Install piping clear of door swings, and above sash heads. C. Make allowances for expansion and contraction. D. Allow for a minimum of one inch free air space around pipe or pipe covering, unless otherwise specified. E. Install horizontal piping with a constant pitch, and without sags or humps. 1. Water Piping: Pitch 1/4 inch per 10 feet upward in direction of flow, unless otherwise noted. If it is not possible to maintain constant pitch, establish a new low point and continue. At the low point, provide a 1/2 inch drip leg and gate valve with a hose bibb end. Provide an air vent at the high point. 2. Drainage Piping: Pitch 1/4 inch per foot downward, in direction of flow, unless otherwise noted. 3. Vent Piping: Pitch 1/4 inch per foot upward, unless otherwise noted. F. Install vertical piping plumb. G. Use fittings for offsets and direction changes, except for Type K soft annealed copper temper water tube. H. Cut pipe and tubing ends square; ream before joining. 3.02 DRAINAGE SYSTEMS Printed 10/27/2014 221100-2 Project No. Q1579-C

A. Fittings: 1. Use long turn drainage pattern fittings, unless space conditions prohibit their use; in such cases, short turn pattern fittings may be used. 2. Vertical Offsets: Make vertical offsets with 45 degree elbows, or 1/8 bends. 3. Tucker Fittings: Tucker fittings may only be installed in vertical piping. B. Cleanouts: 1. Install cleanouts with sufficient side and end clearance to allow for the removal of the cleanout plug, and the use of cleaning tools. 2. Lubricate cleanout plugs with anti-seize lubricant. 3.03 DOMESTIC WATER PIPING SYSTEM A. Connect runouts to the upper quadrant of the main, and run upward at not less than 45 degrees before extending laterally. B. Make final connections to plumbing fixtures and equipment with unions, or flanges: 1. Do not use unions in ferrous piping larger than 3 inches. 2. Do not use unions in brass or copper piping larger than 2 inches. 3.04 PIPE JOINT MAKE-UP A. Soldered Joint: Thoroughly clean tube end and inside of fitting with emery cloth, sand cloth, or wire brush. Apply flux to the pre-cleaned surfaces. Install fitting, heat to soldering temperature, and join the metals with type solder specified. Remove residue. B. Hubless CI Pipe Joint: Make up joint with hubless fitting and couplings, in conformance with the manufacturer s printed installation instructions. 3.05 PIPE AND FITTING SCHEDULE A. Where options are given, choose only one option for each piping service. No deviations from the selected option will be allowed. B. Domestic Water (Above Ground): 1. 3 inch and Under: Type L hard drawn copper tube, with cast copper alloy or wrot copper solder type fittings, and joints made up with Type 3 solder, or hydraulic press joints. C. Drainage (Sanitary) Above Ground: 1. Option No. 1: Hubless, coated, cast iron pipe, fittings, and joint couplings. 2. Option No. 2: DWV copper tubing, with cast brass or wrot copper drainage pattern fittings, and joints made with Type 3 solder. D. This Section includes instantaneous electric water heaters and accessories. 1.03 SUBMITTALS A. General: Submit each item in this Article according to the Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections. B. Product Data including rated capacities of selected models. C. Maintenance data for water heaters to include in operation and maintenance manuals specified in Division 1. Include startup instructions. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. NFPA Standard: Comply with NFPA 70, "National Electrical Code," for electrical components. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 MANUFACTURERS A. specific product requirements are not indicated. 2.03 POINT-OF-USE, TANKLESS, ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS A. Description: Point-of-use, tankless, electric water heater conforming to applicable requirements of UL 499. B. Construction: Manufacturer's standard and without hot-water storage. C. Working-Pressure Rating: 150 psig (1035 kpa). D. Electric Heating System: Manufacturer's standard electric-resistance type. E. Jacket: Aluminum or steel with baked-on enamel finish, NEMA 4X, explosion proof, suitable for use in Class1, Division 1 hazardous areas. F. Mounting: Bracket or device for wall mounting. G. Temperature Control: Factory-set, temperature-control thermostat for fixed, tepid water outlet-water temperature. H. Safety Control: Automatic, high-temperature-limit cutoff. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 WATER HEATER INSTALLATION A. General: Install water heaters per manufacturer s written instructions. 3.02 CONNECTIONS A. Drawings indicate general arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties. B. Electrical Connections: Power wiring and disconnect switches are specified in Division 26 Sections. Arrange wiring to allow unit servicing. C. Grounding: Ground equipment. Tighten electrical connectors and terminals, including grounding connections, according to manufacturer's published torquetightening values. Where manufacturer's torque values are not indicated, use those specified in UL 486A and UL 486B. 3.03 COMMISSIONING A. Perform the following final checks before startup: 1. Check that piping system tests are complete. 2. Check for piping connection leaks. 3. Test operation of safety controls. 4. Energize electric circuits. 5. Verify output water temperature. Eye wash equipment. 1.03 DEFINITIONS A. Accessible Fixture: Emergency plumbing fixture that can be approached, entered, and used by people with disabilities. B. Plumbed Emergency Plumbing Fixture: Fixture with fixed, potable-water supply. C. Tepid: Moderately warm. 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. Include flow rates and capacities, furnished specialties, and accessories. 1.05 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS A. Operation and Maintenance Data: For emergency plumbing fixtures to include in operation and maintenance manuals. 1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. ANSI Standard: Comply with ANSI Z358.1, "Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment." B. PART 2 PRODUCTS A. Standard, Freestanding, Plumbed, Eye Wash Units, 1. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by one of the following: a. Acorn Safety; a division of Acorn Engineering Company. b. Bradley Corporation. c. Encon Safety Products. d. Guardian Equipment Co. e. Speakman Company. 2. Capacity: Not less than 3.0 gpm for at least 15 minutes. 3. Supply Piping: NPS 1/2 chrome-plated brass or stainless steel with flow regulator and stay-open control valve. 4. Control-Valve Actuator: Paddle 5. Spray-Head Assembly: Two receptor-mounted spray heads. 6. Receptor: stainless-steel bowl with stainless steel dust cover. 7. Drain Piping: NPS 1-1/4 minimum, chrome-plated brass, receptor drain, P-trap, waste to wall, and wall flange complying with ASME A112.18.2/CSA B125.2 8. Mounting: Pedestal. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Examine roughing-in for water and waste piping systems to verify actual locations of piping connections before plumbed emergency plumbing fixture installation. B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.02 EMERGENCY PLUMBING FIXTURE INSTALLATION A. Assemble emergency plumbing fixture piping, fittings, control valves, and other components. B. Install fixtures level and plumb. C. Fasten fixtures to substrate. D. Install shutoff valves in water-supply piping to fixtures. Use ball, valve if specific type valve is not indicated. Install valves chained or locked in open position. Install valves in locations where they can easily be reached for operation. E. Install trap and waste piping on drain outlet of emergency equipment receptors that are indicated to be directly connected to drainage system. 3.03 CONNECTIONS A. B. Connect emergency plumbing fixture receptors with trapped drain outlet to sanitary piping, as shown on drawing. C. Where installing piping adjacent to emergency plumbing fixtures, allow space for service and maintenance of fixtures. 3.04 IDENTIFICATION A. Install equipment nameplates or equipment markers on emergency plumbing fixtures and equipment and equipment signs on water-tempering equipment. 3.05 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Mechanical-Component Testing: After plumbing connections have been made, test for compliance with requirements. Verify ability to achieve indicated capacities. B. Tests and Inspections: 1. Perform each visual and mechanical inspection. 2. Leak Test: After installation, charge system and test for leaks. Repair leaks and retest until no leaks exist. 3. Operational Test: After electrical circuitry has been energized, start units to confirm proper unit operation. 4. Test and adjust controls and safeties.
