A complete library management solution OLIB The depth librarians need and the clarity users expect, all in one environment.

OLIB No matter how deep your collection or varied your services, OLIB will guide you to success. OLIB is a highly scalable, cost-effective library management system, bringing a unique combination of efficiency, ease of use and leading-edge e-resource capabilities to the management of your information resources. Regardless of the size, nature or complexity of your needs, OLIB provides a comprehensive system for the management of digital and traditional media. We were keen to ensure that the chosen system could offer us the flexibility to meet our specific needs. It was clear that OLIB was highly configurable so that we could make it our OLIB. Lee Bryant, LRC Manager, Bristol City College Through cutting-edge current awareness and self-service functionality, OLIB empowers your users and gives you more time to do what you do best connecting individuals to knowledge. Available as either a hosted or locally installed solution, OLIB s flexibility means it is ideally suited to the diverse needs of the corporate, special and education libraries that it serves.

Complete solution Competitive price An exciting discovery environment for librarians and end-users. Developed over two decades, OLIB s broad range of core functionality gives you everything you would expect from a leading library management solution that is implemented at over 300 libraries worldwide. Everything from cataloguing, circulation, acquisition and accounts, serials control and reporting functionality is included for a fixed price. OLIB s intuitive Web-based OPAC helps empower users. WebView is highly configurable and offers a wealth of optional self-service features from self-renew and request to purchase recommendations and online placing of enquiries. This simple single pricing structure, including support, implementation, customisation, training and upgrades, means you can budget more effectively and with no hidden extras OLIB may be more affordable than you might think. WebView offers reading list, Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) services, a gateway to other Web sites and links to Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and intranets. Automation through e-mail and RSS alerts allows users to stay abreast of collection developments, while freeing your time from administrative processes. All of these serve to extend the reach of traditional library services, delivering them to users where and when they want them. In addition, OLIB allows you to effortlessly produce and distribute a wide range of comprehensive current awareness information, for instance, abstracts included as part of regular bulletins to users. This leading-edge technology helps you widen the reach and raise the profile of information provision to the users you serve. Some OLIB clients are already successfully generating revenue from these added value current awareness services linking information provision with income generation.

We re with you for the whole journey The OLIB product team prides itself on taking In addition OLIB also benefits from being a partnership approach to development. Our part of a global network of products and close working relationships with customers services offered by OCLC. The potential means we listen to what you tell us and to integrate with a wide range of other actively work with you to define priorities for solutions such as WorldCat, TouchPoint, new releases and move the system forward. WorldCat Local and CONTENTdm enables you OLIB has an active User Group that meets to connect with other libraries worldwide. regularly and works directly with the product This connection then comes full circle as your management team to make this happen. users are presented, in their local systems, with unique library content from all around the world. This joined up approach to development at both the local and global levels enhances the connection between your library, your users and the Web.

Web-or Windows-based system? Hosted solution or local implementation? You plot your course, OLIB will take you there. OLIB offers a choice of staff interfaces: OLIB WorldView, a Windows-style, client-based, staff interface; and OLIB Web, a Web-based staff interface. With the arrival of OLIB Web, OCLC can now provide a completely hosted solution, removing any requirement for you to maintain software on-site. OLIB Web provides all the staff management functionality, currently available via its client-based staff interface, across the Internet. There is no client software to be installed on library PCs; staff can just click on the browser in any location at any time. OLIB WorldView Or a mixture of the two A Windows-style interface providing a familiar look and feel for your staff. Client software is installed on all staff PCs that need to connect to the LMS. A mixture of both OLIB WorldView and OLIB Web can be provided for libraries wishing to use both methods of accessing OLIB. OLIB Web OLIB Web delivers an effective working environment for library staff irrespective of their location: within the library, at a remote site, indeed, from anywhere. OLIB Web is installed on a single server, without the need for more software on your PC, making it ideally suited to both multisite and single site deployments. Upgrades need be carried out only in one place. Alternatively, we offer a hosting service that manages the servers and related infrastructure, while you concentrate on serving your users: It aids smaller library environments, where resources are at a premium and internal IT support is restricted. It benefits larger multisite environments where the flexibility of the Web as a platform for services is highly desirable. It sustains the library s bid for a functionally rich system at a cost within reach of most small-to medium-sized libraries. Flexible working for staff is just a browser click away staff are no longer tied to their workstations. OLIB Web is the natural choice for many libraries with differing needs. By introducing an option to have your service remotely hosted, OLIB has broadened the range of scenarios your library may wish to consider when implementing its management system. You can choose to outsource all technological issues to OCLC and not have client software running on their workstations. Or, libraries may wish to run a mixed economy of Windows client and browser-based staff functionality, which could be determined by the nature of the staff function or by the location of the staff. This is also possible with OLIB. Interoperability with third-party systems OLIB is compliant with a wide range of library and IT standards including MARC21, Z39.50, SIP2, ISO ILL and OAI, ensuring interoperability with third-party systems and data sources. This enables bibliographic and user data import, cross-searching of third-party catalogues and integration with self-issue devices.

Stay on course while planning for the future

From our very first conversation through to system deployment and implementation, OCLC will work with you every step of the way. Our experienced professional services team provides a range of services from installation, project management, training and configuration advice, to a customer help desk and customer Web areas for all of the latest news and information on the products that you have implemented. Smooth, efficient data migration A vital part of any new system implementation is data conversion. At OCLC we provide a data conversion facility that ensures a smooth and efficient data migration from your current library management system to OLIB. In addition, you are given the option to improve data quality by removing inconsistencies and inaccuracies as part of the process, saving valuable staff time in manual data tidying whilst improving data recall. A partnership approach to development At OCLC we value our customers, listen to what they tell us and actively work with them for the ongoing development of OLIB. OLIB has an active User Group that works closely with OLIB product management to define priorities for new releases and effectively drive the development of OLIB, ensuring it continues to be closely aligned to the needs of its user base.
