2013-2 International Industry-College Cooperation Program Program Details 1. Program overview A. This is an international industry-college cooperation program. B. It will run based on agreements between Yeungjin College and leading Korean companies in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. i. Yeungjin College is located in Daegu, South Korea and is known as the prestigious college with great satisfaction from students due to its various education programs, high job placement rate and globalized environment. ii. Examples of leading Korean companies are Kia Motors in Slovakia, Samsung Electronics in Slovakia, Samsung Electronics in Hungary, LG Electronics in Poland, Heesung Electronics in Poland and key affiliates. C. Yeungjin College will provide practical knowledge required by the above-mentioned companies, and award an Associate s degree to European students. D. European students who participate in this program will be hired by the above-mentioned companies. (See 8 Job placement, See 1-B-ii) E. This program will start from the fall semester of year 2013 (August, 2013). The whole program period is one year and six months from August, 2013 to February, 2015. 2. Students qualifications A. Applicants in engineering major such as Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information, and Mechanical Engineering students are preferred. B. However, Humanities students can also apply for this program as long as they are willing to study engineering major classes(mechanical Engineering or Electronics) and business major classes. C. Yeungjin College will recruit up to 30 international students for this program. D. International applicant with a foreign nationality [International applicant s parents must not be citizens of Korea. International applicant must have received his or her entire primary and secondary (elementary, middle school and high school) education outside of Korea.] E. Qualifications of European students for participating in this program are English fluency, sincere and polite attitude, respect for other culture and good personality. i. The University graduates or graduates-to-be University graduates with a Bachelor s degree Undergraduate students who finished their 3rd year or 4th year can still apply as well. For those, job placement is not guaranteed because of a lack of Bachelor s degree. However, when they apply for the above-mentioned companies during its open recruitment after they obtain their degree, they will have advantages. ii. They have to be willing to work in recommended Korean companies. iii. They have to show English fluency (See 10-H Application documents). iv. They must achieve good scores in their universities and have a good recommendation. v. They must be willing to accept Korean culture and respect Korean ways and systems. 3. Scholarship A. Students can receive a scholarship of 900,000 Korean Won (appr. 630 Euro) per month if they are willing to work as campus assistant (English facilitator or Village Guide). B. Scholar s roles and responsibilities: i. A scholar should be active and earnest in taking all the classes provided. ii. Those who receive the scholarship are called Scholar. Scholar will serve as an English facilitator or a Village

iii. iv. Guide. The assignment will be determined by College. English facilitators stay in an English Zone maximum 30 hours per week (around 6 hours per day). The English Zone is intended for the cultural exchange and English club activities for Koreans (students, staff) English skills enhancement. The English facilitator should be active and creative in all activities related to English Zone. The assignment will be determined by College. The Village Guide will assist English education institute s young participants for their smooth participation. Their responsibilities at DGEV include taking care of young kids or students and giving them guide and assistance. 4. Tuition at Yeungjin College and costs A. Our admission fee is about 763,000 Korean Won (appr. 534 Euro), but European students for this program will be exempt from the admission fee. B. Our tuition is about 6,420,000 Korean Won (appr. 4494 Euro) per year. The tuition needs to be paid each semester. - Total tuition per year (2 semesters): 6,420,000 Korean Won (appr. 4494 Euro) - Tuition per semester: 3,210,000 Korean Won (appr. 2247 Euro) However, College will give European students a 30 percent discount on the tuition fee. - Tuition per semester with a 30 percent discount: 2,247,000 Korean Won (appr. 1573 Euro) - Tuition per year with a 30 percent discount: 4,494,000 Korean Won (appr. 3146 Euro) * The tuition is based on the tuition of School of Mechanical Engineering. The tuition is subject to change slightly. The College reserves the right to revise fees from time to time without prior notice. As and when fees are revised, the new fees will apply to all existing and new students. C. Monthly tuition payment installment policy: According to the principle, students must pay tuition before the start of each semester. However, for this program s scholarship students, the monthly tuition payment installment policy is available. The tuition bill will be issued to the student at the end of each month. The student must pay tuition on time just as the payment dates are mentioned in the bill. D. A dormitory will be provided at a charge of 170,000 Korean Won (appr. 119 Euro) per month including utilities such as gas and electricity. Dormitory fee per month: 170,000 Korean Won (appr. 119 Euro) Dormitory fee per year: 2,040,000 Korean Won (appr. 714 Euro) * Dormitory fee depends on the dormitory buildings. The dorm arrangement and dormitory cost are subject to change. E. Dormitory meal plan: A meal plan is provided to the dormitory residents and the students are supposed to buy the meal plan per semester. The meal plan includes 44 meals in total for breakfast and dinner for 22 weekdays for 4 months. Each meal costs 5,000 won, but Yeungjin College financially supports 50 percent of each meal; in result students only pay 2,500 Korean won. Lunch is not included in the meal plan. But, lunch is available in the cafeteria for 2,500 won (appr. 2 Euro). Meal plan cost per month: 110,000 Korean Won (appr. 77 Euro) * There is a chance that the meal plan will not be provided during vacation periods. F. The amount of scholarship would be good for the student to manage to pay tuition, dormitory fees and meal plans. If the student lives a frugal life with an economical use of the provided scholarship and make the best use of dormitory meal plans in the campus cafeterias, the scholarship can cover the dormitory cost and meals as well although the scholarship is for assisting the scholar s study. However, if the student would like to live an abundant life, the student should be prepared with his/her own allowance. * Currency rate (as of April 10, 2013): 10000 KRW = 7 EURO 5. Classes A. European students will have about 20 hours or less of classes a week per semester.

B. Classes will be conducted in English except Korean language. C. A semester consists of 15 weeks, and the one academic year consists of two semesters. - Spring semester: starts from March 2 every year - For the student who will participate in this 2013 fall semester program, the fall semester of the year 2013 will be the first semester of the program. 6. Major Applicants can apply for one major: either School of Mechanical Engineering or School of Electronics. Electronics major has a curriculum based on electronic industry while the mechanical engineering major is based on the automobile industry. However, some courses are common in both majors like Korean language and culture, business, etc. Although the main program for European students is mechanical engineering, for those who would like to pursue career after graduation in electronics, the applicant can apply for electronics major. Curriculum overview The learning plan of one year and six months will be composed of major courses focused on practical knowledge rather than only theories. With up-to-date equipment and lab environment, students will obtain knowledge of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. Since graduates from this program will work in the real field of electronic industry, the education and training that they obtain at Yeungjin will be vital and be used at the global Korean companies. Students will also take courses of Korean language and Korean culture. Through the courses they learn to speak Korean and explore Korean customs and ways of thinking. In addition, students may take business major courses, necessary to understand how business and management work in the industry. Combination of knowledge on mechatronics, electronics, business and Korean language and culture will make the students the most qualified persons to work in global Korean companies. Course examples in mechanical engineering are Korean Language, Korean Culture, Basic electric engineering & electronics, Precision measurement, Accounting, Blueprint reading & 3D CAD practice, Production management, Practice of product development, Hyundai-Kia corporate culture, PLC, etc. Course examples in electronics major are Korean Language, Korean Culture, Introduction to Electronics, Accounting, C Language, Project managing, Samsung Corporate Culture, Intermediate Korean Language, Display Engineering, Electric Circuit, etc. Please note that the curriculum and subjects can be modified according to the situation. 8. Job placement after graduating from Yeungjin College A. Students will be employed at the above-mentioned global Korean companies if they meet the following criteria. (See 1-B-ii), i. They will have followed all the classes successfully, which means they should achieve above B grade in average. ii. They should achieve above B grade in field training if there is any. Note that field training is not guaranteed. However, in case students are provided an opportunity to participate in the field training, they should achieve above B grade in field training. iii. They should pass the routine interview with the above-mentioned companies. B. Students will be hired mainly as an employee in the global Korean company. Depending on the availability of vacancy in respective department and the student s aptitude and major, the department will be determined by the company. C. Since students are equipped with academic background, practical knowledge, Korean language, and Korean work ethics, there will be a great possibility for them to be a core member of the above-mentioned companies.

9. Application Procedure A. Applicants should submit the completed application documents in scanned image by email (yjcinternational2020@gmail.com). Hard copies should be submitted after the applicant is admitted to Yeungjin College. B. Interview (by visual communication way): Yeungjin College will contact the applicant to schedule an interview. C. Review of application documents and interview D. Screening by College Admissions Committee E. Announcement to the applicant about the result * Successful applicants must obtain a Korean student visa (D-2) to enter Korea. Further guidance will be given to the accepted applicants later. 10. Application Documents Important notes - All documents should be in Korean or English. Documents in another language should be accompanied by a notarized Korean or English translation issued by the country in which the document was originally produced. (This means that an applicant has to submit the copies of the original language document together with the notarized translation.) - If any of the submitted materials contain false information, admission will be rescinded. - Original documents should be submitted. Should they be unavailable, the copies must be authorized by the originating institution before they are submitted. - Be sure to make and keep photocopies of all completed forms. Submitted documents become property of Yeungjin College and will not be returned to the applicants. - Newly admitted students must submit the following document with Apostille after their enrollment at Yeungjin College: Apostilled copies of the university diploma, Apostilled copies of the university transcripts. If the admitted applicants are from countries which are not signatories to the 1961 Hague Convention, they have to submit the official certificates legalized by a Korean consular officer in the country which issued the certificates and have to submit the official certificates with the attachment of an Authentication (ex. Certificate of Authentication or Certificate of Overseas Educational Institutions) issued by the Korean embassy or consulate. For more info on how to get an Apostille, please refer to the website www.hcch.net. - Tips: You can get your original diploma and transcripts to be apostilled first, and get the apostilled ones to be notarized. Or, you can get your original diploma and transcripts to be translated and notarized first, and get the notarized ones to be apostilled. For more information, please try to ask the apostil-issuing organization in your country. A. Completed application form (Applicant must submit both basic form and detailed form.) B. Personal statement (Should be written in font size 12 point, in Times New Roman, in MS Word, in English) Personal statement is a self-introduction. This provides an opportunity for you to reveal more about yourself, your family, academic and other achievements, extracurricular interests and commitments, work experiences, and your reasons for applying to Yeungjin College. C. Study plan (Should be written in font size 12 point, in Times New Roman, in MS Word, in English) Applicant is required to write an overall statement about his/her future academic and career goals. The purpose of this study plan is to clearly define the applicant s path to the degree. D. A letter of recommendation from teachers and professors (free style, in English) The letter should be submitted by the recommender by email (yjcinternational2020@gmail.com). E. Diploma of the latest graduated school (college/university diploma, or official letter of studentship from university) Undergraduate students should submit the official letter of studentship from university indicating that applicant is currently enrolled at the university.

F. Official transcript of academic records of the latest graduated school (college/university) G. International passport and national passport of the applicant H. Proof of English proficiency i. ibt TOEFL score of at least 80, or equivalent score of other English test/certificate - one among TOEFL 550, CBT 210, ibt 80, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 550 (The original score paper must be submitted on arrival) ii. Or, students must pass an oral English test during the interview with Yeungjin College. iii. If an applicant s mother tongue (native language) is English, the English proficiency proof is exempted. After the interview, applicants have to submit more documents which are listed below. I. Parents ID card copy - front and back (Documents verifying foreign nationality of his/her parents) J. Full birth certificate or Family register (Legal documentation evidencing the parent-child relationship) K. Transcripts of academic records from high school (Only for those whose recent education is high school.) L. Financial capability documents (Financial support guarantee pledge form=letter of Financial Support Guarantee)

11. Introduction to Yeungjin College Yeungjin College, established in 1977, is located in Daegu city, South Korea. It is 2- or 3-year college and offers various programs ranging from 2-year, 3-year to 4-year training. It has more than 8,000 students in 9 schools and 3 departments. > What is NCSI? In 1998 the NCSI was launched with a mission to improve quality and competitiveness among companies on an industrial level, economic level and national level by the Korea Productivity Center along with the University of Michigan which developed the American Customer Satisfaction Index. The NCSI is a new way of measuring customer satisfaction and it is based on how satisfied the final customers who have actually used a product or service. The result is announced based on the survey conducted quarterly for companies and public organizations.
