1 Waseda Business School (WBS) (Graduate School of Commerce, Waseda University) 'Campus Special Admissions' September Application Guide for International MBA Program For September Admissions, WBS will conduct 'Campus Special Admissions' for prospective students from all undergraduate schools at Waseda University. (1) Applicant Qualifications Applicants must fulfill ALL of the following requirements. 1 Those who are scheduled to graduate from undergraduate schools at Waseda University between March and September *Applicants whose home universities are overseas partner universities of Waseda University and who are currently enrolled in the undergraduate school at Waseda University through the Double Degree Program are eligible to apply to 'Campus Special Admissions' if they are to be certified 'to be able to graduate' by their respective undergraduate schools at Waseda University and are scheduled to earn a bachelor's degree conferred by Waseda University. 2 3 Those who have more than 580 points on the GMAT at the time of application. *Refer to the website ( for the details of GMAT test. Those who have more than GPA 2.5 or who are scheduled to obtain two degrees through the Double Degree Program. * GPA must be based on all grades for graduation by spring semester. * Please refer to page 4 for calculation of GPA. (2) Number of students to be admitted: A few (3) Screening Method Admission selection will be based on application documents. For some applicants, interviews will be required. Candidates will be contacted individually from the WBS Admissions Office. Interviews will be conducted on the Waseda campus of the Waseda University. Please mail the application documents to the WBS Admissions Office before the application deadline date of each round. The result of the admission screening will be sent to each applicant by post-mail at the admission result announcement date. 1

2 (5) Application Procedures a) Submission of application documents (For residents of Japan) Enclose the required application documents in an envelope (square-sized #2 type) and paste the designated address label for application on the recipient address side. Applications must be sent to the WBS Admissions Office stated below by registered mail ( 簡 易 書 留 郵 便 ). *The address label for application can be downloaded from the WBS website. Please make sure that the payment is made before application. Individuals who have not paid the fee will not be eligible to apply. Screening fee payment deadline at convenience stores are stated below: Start of payment process: September 10 (Mon), Deadline for payment process: May 28 (Tue), Please refer to the following link and follow the instructions for convenience store payment. [URL] Method for payment of the screening fee at convenience store in Japan For payment of the screening fee at a convenience store, please access the e-shiharai.net website ( from a personal computer or a mobile phone. You must first complete all the required procedures before you are allowed to pay at any convenience stores. After payment you will receive a screening fee receipt, which you must cut and paste onto the indicated column on Application Form 1-5 and send along with the rest of the application documents. Payment is available 24 hours a day regardless of day, but will only be accepted from 10:00am on the starting day until 23:00 on the final day (through e-shiharai.net) and 23:30 for convenience store payment. In case you ask someone else to pay the screening fees at the convenience store, you must ask him/her to process the payment in the applicant's name. If you cannot pay at a convenience store, please contact the WBS Admissions office (wbs@list.waseda.jp) in advance. (6) Application Documents Please download designated forms from WBS website. [URL] (IMPORTANT) Application documents must be written in English Applicant evaluation forms and all required certifications may be submitted in either Japanese or English. For any other language, a certified translation (Japanese or English) must be attached to the original copy. Documents will not be returned once submitted. Only original certificates that cannot be reissued may be returned only when a Request Form for Submitted Documents Return is submitted at the time of application along with a photocopy of each certificate. 2

3 If any falsification is found in the documents presented for application, admission may be revoked. The admission period, language and program cannot be changed once applied. Application forms must be completed by the applicants. 1. Application form (designated form) Application form [Form 1-1 ~ Form 1-5] o [Form 1-1] Paste a color photo of yourself in the specified area. The photo should be 4cm 3cm without frame, and must be taken within 3 months prior to the application. Photos taken before change in appearance (glasses, hairstyle, etc) are not acceptable. Three extra copies of the same picture will be required for admission procedures. Write your name on the back of the photo and paste it to the application form. o [Form 1-2] If additional space is required for your educational background and work experience, please attach a separate sheet. o [Form 1-4] Please attach a photocopy of each license/certification you cite as proof of records o [Form 1-5] If you are paying your screening fee at the convenience store, make sure to affix the certificate of receipt in the specified area. o Staple the upper left corner of all forms in order with [Form 1-1] coming on top and [Form 1-5] on bottom. Essay [Form 2-1] ~ [Form 2-5] o Follow the instructions on [Form 2-1] and create essays 1-4. Written language must be English. o Staple the upper left corner of all forms in order with [Form 2-1] coming on top and [Form 2-5] on bottom. Applicant Evaluation Form [Form 3] o One applicant evaluation form must be prepared. You must ask a faculty at Waseda University to fill in the applicant evaluation form. o The evaluation form must be enclosed in an unopened envelope. The WBS does not require a specific envelope size. Please note the directions listed below. 1 Applicant forwards the designated form (and an envelope) to the evaluator. 2 The evaluator must enclose the form in the envelope, seal it, sign across the seal, and return it to the applicant. 3 Applicant submits the evaluation form to the WBS Admissions Office with the envelope unopened. WBS Survey (Questionnaire Form) [Form 4] o Please take a few minutes to fill in a questionnaire form for the WBS marketing analysis purposes (such as activities for recruiting students). The answers will not affect admission decisions in any way. Request Form for Submitted Documents Return [Form 7] o Submit only when you are requesting the WBS to return original copies of certificates that are not re-issuable. Documents may not be returned without submission of this form. 2. Official College/University Certificate (Original Copy) a) Certificate of (expected) graduation/degree b) Official transcript of courses (NOTES) Submit original copy written in Japanese or English. If universities or governments cannot provide Japanese or English certificates, please attach a translated copy certified by the embassy or relevant public officials. Applicants who have transferred must submit transcripts of both the graduating school and previously attended school. For those whose name stated on the application form differs from that on the certificates, certified documents proving the change of legal name (such as copy of family register) must be submitted. 3

4 3. GMAT score report [Institution code of WBS: 0162] Submission of original copy of the GMAT score is compulsory for all applicants. If GMAT scores are mailed directly from a test center, only score reports received by the WBS Admissions Office will be evaluated. GMAT: Graduate Management Admission Test by GMAC: Graduate Management Admission Council 4. Proof of English Proficiency Submission of at least one of the following certified test score reports is compulsory, but not for applicants whose native language is English TOEFL(iBT, CBT, PBT) [Institution code: 2463] IELTS(Academic) TOEIC 5. Recipt of Screening Fees (refer to page 2) Paste the receipt of screening fee on the specified area on [Form 1-5] THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED BY ALL NON-JAPANESE APPLICANTS. 6. Statement of Fund Source [Form 8] Those who have Japanese VISA of Permanent Resident, Long Term Resident, Spouse or Child of Japanese Citizen, Spouse or Child of Permanent Resident don t have to submit this statement. Please indicate the source and amount of funding for studying at the WBS (usually 2 years). Scholarship recipients must submit a scholarship award letter indicating amount and duration. The estimation of total expenses including tuition and living costs in Tokyo will be approximately 6,000,000 yen for two years. 7. Photocopy of Resident Card (the front and back) All international applicants residing in Japan have to submit a photocopy of your resident card. 8. Photocopy of Passport A photocopy of the page of photo in your passport must be submitted. (7) How to Calculate GPA The GPA,average Grade Point (GP), is calculated using the below method. a) Each grade is converted to Grade Point (GP). The GP for each grade is as follows. 5 (8) Admission Procedures For details concerning admission procedures, please refer to the Guidelines for Admission procedures which will be enclosed with your acceptance letter. Only those who have submitted required documents before the admission procedure deadline stated on page 1 and transferred admission fee, tuition and other fees will be admitted. [Required Documents] (1) Prescribed forms 1 Written Oath and Written Guarantee This form must be filled in by the applicant and his/her guarantor. 2 Consent for the Treatment of Personal Data This form must be filled in by the applicant and his/her guarantor. 3Certificate of Residence (2) Original Copy of "Certificate of Graduation" and "Transcript of Academic Records" (only for applicants who had not yet graduated at the time of application) (3) Three color photographs (4cm 3cm, borderless) Photos should be identical to that attached to the application form. (4) Receipt of the bank transfer of tuition and fees. (5) Other documents designated by the WBS * For details concerning admission procedure documents refer to the Admission Procedure Guideline sent with the acceptance letter. (9) Admission Fee, Tuition and other fees Admission fee, tuition and other fees for International MBA Program are stated as follows: *Those who have enrolled in the Waseda University as a regular student are eligible for exemption of admission fees. Fees vary depending on course but the cost of eight credits (four courses) in English learning is approximately 160,000 yen, while for Japanese learning classes it costs an additional 40,000 yen. *English language courses are available in the Open Education Center. 6 (10) Scholarship Prior to Matriculation Scholarships below will be granted to candidates who are selected through the designated screening process. The result will be announced at the time of announcement of the screening result. Please submit the designated application form (form 6 or Ting Hsin International Group, Tinghyi Holding Corporation Scholarship form) at the time of application if you wish to have scholarship listed below. Regarding information about other scholarships, please refer to the Admission Procedure Guideline sent with the letter of admission. [Partial Tuition-Waiver Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students] Qualifications: Those whose status of residence is Student during the period enrolled in WBS. Stipend: 50% reduction from one-year tuition [Waseda Business School Scholarship] Qualifications: Those who possess Japanese nationality or Those whose status of residence is 永 住 者, 定 住 者 or 日 本 人 ( 永 住 者 )の 配 偶 者, 子 Stipend: Annual grant of 500,000 JPY or 1,000,000 JPY [Ting Hsin International Group, Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corporation Scholarship] Qualifications: (a) Those who are strongly eager to enroll at WBS Waseda University as their first choice. * It is not possible to apply for this scholarship at two or more graduate schools. If the applicant applies for two or more graduate schools, the applicant may lose his/her eligibility. (b) Those who possess Chinese nationality (including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau). (c) Those whose status of residence is Student during the period enrolled in WBS. (d) Those who are under 30 years old as of their expected enrollment date Stipend: (1) Full-tuition coverage (Tuion for International MBA program, not including language courses) (2) 1,500,000 JPY yearly allowance (10) Notes Concerning Application As a general rule, screening fees are non-refundable and all application documents are non-returnable. Only when individuals apply to the below cases will we refund screening fees only. Those who fall under this category must contact the WBS Admissions Office (wbs@list.waseda.jp) 1--You have paid the screening fee but have not submitted any application documents. 2--You have either failed to meet the Applicant Qualifications or submitted documents after the application deadline. In case you are contacted by the WBS Admissions office, please follow their instructions without delay. WBS reserves the right to cancel your enrollment or offer of admission for false information provided by the applicant. In such a case, none of the paid fees (screening, admission, tuition and other fees) will be refunded and no documents (application and registration documents) will be returned. If the documents/materials/information which were submitted/provided to our University at the time of application were revealed to be forged, falsified, or plagiarized, they may be considered as acts of dishonesty and the result of admission screening may be invalid. Please note that even in the case case the submitted documents/ materials /information and screening fee will not be returned. Change of your address must be reported to the WBS Admissions Office (wbs@list.waseda.jp) immediately. If a physical disability requires a special consideration when study at WBS, please inquire the WBS Admissions Office prior to submitting an application. Privacy Policy We use personal information (address, name, date of birth, etc.) submitted at the time of application to accurately and efficiently expedite the admission process. We may also use this information to contact applicants, offer services or send information during and after their period of enrollment. We take necessary and appropriate measure to prevent leakage and misuse of personal information. When we delegate part or all of the above procedure to an agent, we oblige that agent by contract to manage the relevant information appropriately. 6
