TUT IT Helpdesk The single point of contact for all your IT-related questions When you contact the IT Helpdesk by email, please include the following information in your message: Name, email address and phone number of the person experiencing IT problems. Information on the device (computer name/number, printer name). What is the extent of the problem? Are several users experiencing the same problem? Description of the problem. If your computer displays an error message, please include the text or a screenshot in your message. One problem - one email Please write a separate email for each issue or request. If you add a new request to an old email thread, there is a possibility that the message goes unnoticed.

E-mail All students and employees receive a TUT email account. The email addresses of students use the format firstname.lastname@student.tut.fi. The email addresses of employees always use the format firstname.lastname@tut.fi. The easiest way to access your TUT email account is to use the webmail service at http://webmail.student.tut.fi/. You log on to Office 365 with your username username@student.tut.fi and a separate network service password. Settings for email programs are at POP > STUDY INFO > IT services > Email and Office 365 > Email > Outlook email settings
Office 365 Office 365 offers the following functions: Emails (50 GB of storage space; the maximum size of attachments is 25 MB) Shared calendars Web conferencing and instant messaging File sharing and personal storage (25 GB) Office Online apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Team sites and storage
Usernames and passwords TUT uses a central authentication service that allows students to access all the University s electronic resources with the same username. Two passwords are assigned to your user account. You have to use your network service password to access your email account (Office 365 service) and your regular password to access the University s other electronic resources. You can reset both of your passwords through the self-service user interface. Your password and network service password both expire after 9 months and must be reset at the same time. The passwords must meet the same complexity requirements. They cannot be identical. You can log on to the self-service user interface at: https://www.tut.fi/myacc. Remember to create a strong and secure password that is easy to remember but hard to guess.
Wireless local area network (WLAN) Students can access WLAN in TUT campus: Network: TUT Browser based authentication. No encryption. Network: LANGATON-WPA Wireless Tampere, available in TUT, UTA, and many other places around Tampere. Encrypted and very secure. Network: eduroam education roaming is secure, world-wide roaming access service (www.eduroam.org). Encrypted and very secure. Disk space and files The P drive is your personal home directory The P drive is your home directory in the Intra environment. Your P drive quota is 1 GB. You can access your files off-campus by connecting to the server ssh.intra.tut.fi. Check your quota regularly! It will affect your login process to Windows computers, if you fill up your home directory. Proffa home directory You can access your Proffa home directory by clicking the short cut available in the All programs menu of a Windows workstation. The quota is 300 MB. You can check your free disk space with the quota command. You can access your Proffa home directory using SSH at proffa.cc.tut.fi. OneDrive (Office365) Office365 offers students 25 GB of personal storage space in OneDrive. The files are stored in the cloud and are outside of TUT s control.
