Together with IP Link -enabled control systems or IP Link interfaces, GlobalViewer provides a powerful, flexible way to manage, monitor, and control both Extron and third-party equipment like projectors, plasmas, monitors, VCRs, DVD players, and other devices using a standard TCP/IP network. Free GlobalViewer Is Built By Global Configurator The Web pages and scripts created by Global Configurator and uploaded to an IP Link-enabled device are referred to collectively as GlobalViewer. Once uploaded, GlobalViewer allows the user to manage, monitor, and control connected devices. Access Via a Web Browser Web pages stored on the IP Link control interface can be viewed using Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher from any computer with access to the network. Customizable Look and Feel The Web page source code for Free GlobalViewer is included and can be customized using standard HTML editing tools. A Web developer can add images, modify text, and change background colors to create a look and feel that reflects your brand or your user s specific requirements. For example, a university with dozens of devices and rooms to control may wish to customize GlobalViewer s Web pages with the university s school colors and logo. Minimum System Requirements Intel Pentium III 1 GHz processor Microsoft Windows XP SP2, or Windows Vista, or Windows 7 Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 with ActiveX enabled Microsoft Windows Script 5.6 512 MB of RAM 50 MB of available hard disk space A network connection with a data transfer rate of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps recommended MLC 104 IP Plus n Created and uploaded using Global Configurator which is available for free download Extron GlobalViewer Web pages are created and uploaded by Global Configurator, which can be downloaded from the Extron Web site free of charge. There are no per seat charges and no licensing fees. n Remotely monitor and control TouchLink, MediaLink, and IP Link-enabled systems GlobalViewer Web pages are viewable using Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later on any computer with access to the network. n Global View displays similar devices on a single screen Provides overall device type status summary for all similar devices in all rooms, or groups of rooms, on a single screen. n Room View displays all devices in one room on a single page Enables users to monitor and control all devices for a single room on one page. n Location tree provides up to eight levels of organization Allows for a high level of detail in organizing devices by location, e.g., State, City, Building, Floor, Room, etc. n Schedule devices to turn on or off at preset days and times Users can view and modify dates and times for all configured events and notifications. n Support for open Internet standards GlobalViewer software supports existing open Internet standards such as HTML, XML, and JavaScript. n View devices by location or device type Connected devices are viewable by device type, such as displays, switchers, video projectors, etc, or by location. The Location and Type tabs in GlobalViewer allow users to switch between the two views quickly. Projector 1 n All OFF by device type Allows you to turn off all similar devices, such as projectors, at once. Projector 2 With 6 Virtual Ethernet Ports TCP/IP n User-definable Help button Provides a URL link that appears on every page for quick access to an e-mail form, contact info, or online user guide. Projector 3 Projector 4 Projector 5 Projector 7 Projector 6 Projector 8 Manage networked projectors using IP Link and Free GlobalViewer

APPLICATIONS AND BENEFITS Proactive Maintenance GlobalViewer can store and display information about connected devices like serial numbers, owner identification, maintenance history, and installed firmware versions. This centralized data can be collected and used to reduce maintenance costs and guide future purchasing decisions. For instance, a projector can be polled routinely to track lamp usage and total life time. When lamp usage reaches a predetermined number of hours, the IP Link interface can send a report via e-mail. n Maintenance data can be used to guide the purchase of replacement parts and additional devices. The info screen can be used to display vital information about connected devices Device: Model: Serial Number: Support: Firmware: 1.01 ROOM 101 Video Projector Hitachi CP-X430W A09707V Helpdesk X1002 Installed: December 2008 Maintenance: Lamp Replacement 12-1009 Convenient access to device infomation n Service times can be proactively scheduled for optimum use of resources. n Improved equipment maintenance results in increased system uptime. n Reduced down time saves money. Event Scheduling GlobalViewer uses the real-time clock and calendar in IP Linkenabled devices to maximum value. User-defined tasks are easy to configure and schedule with GlobalViewer and don t require high-level programming skills. For instance, an administrator may want to turn off all projectors every Friday at close of business. The administrator can schedule the system to turn off all projectors at a specified time, and raise all projection screens that were left down. Likewise, for a single room, it is simple to schedule specific equipment to turn on and set the lighting to a specific preset just before a presentation. n Presentation rooms can be automatically prepared for use prior to the scheduled start time of classes or meetings. At the Schedule screen, you can view and modify scheduled events and associated e-mail alerts. PROJECTOR 199 PROJECTOR 102 n Devices can be powered off automatically, reducing lamp and power usage. n Devices can be configured to respond according to schedule or to predefined trigger events. Multiple device scheduling Scheduling

APPLICATIONS AND BENEFITS (Cont.) Remote Technical Support Technicians can troubleshoot systems remotely because Free GlobalViewer provides real-time status of connected devices. Information such as connection status, power state, or current input selection is displayed in a central location. For many connected devices, technicians can toggle power on or off, switch sources, control volume, and more without leaving their office. Many common problems can be resolved without a trip to where the equipment is located. n Remote device control and access to device status enables remote troubleshooting. The Control screen allows you to remotely control many functions, including volume, display power, input source, and more. n Users receive a quicker response and faster problem resolution. n Centralized technical support enables better response with fewer support staff. Help Desk Remote Device and Room Control Remote Device and Room Control Theft Alerts Extron IP Link interfaces are always on and routinely poll their attached devices for status information. If any serially controlled device such as a projector or document camera is physically disconnected from the network, the IP Link interface monitoring its status will know immediately. In such an event, Free GlobalViewer can be configured to send an e-mail message notifying security personnel of the possible theft. For fast action, e-mails can be sent to multiple addresses including cell phones and wireless PDAs. n Monitoring is automatic; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Free GlobalViewer can be set up to send an e-mail alert if a projector is physically disconnected. n E-mail alerts can be sent to multiple e-mail addresses simultaneously. n Better asset protection from theft and vandalism. E-mail Message Theft Alert

WEB-BASED ASSET MANAGEMENT The role of the technical administrator in today s organizations has expanded to include management and maintenance of A/V devices from multiple manufacturers. Often these A/V systems are spread out geographically. Many administrators are facing increased responsibilities for providing system management and technical support that stretch available budgets and staffing. What s needed is a cost-effective technology that centralizes A/V system management and monitoring without requiring a larger support staff or more specialized personnel. Organizations have used the corporate network for management of their computer assets for years. Integrating A/V systems into an IP network offers the ability to provide the same type of centralized remote management that IT managers enjoy for their systems. However, simply adding Ethernet ports to A/V devices is not enough. The key to effectively integrating A/V systems into the network is the right software. You need a feature set robust enough to accommodate large, complex installations, yet the software should be simple to install and configure. That s why Extron developed Free GlobalViewer a powerful, flexible, easy to use Web-based application for A/V system resource management and remote monitoring. Enjoy the power of centralized A/V system data and the flexibility of remote device control through your organization s existing IP network. Free GlobalViewer is designed for universities, government facilities, medium to large size businesses, even multi-building presentation environments. Combined with IP Link technology, Free GlobalViewer facilitates key asset management functions including: n Proactive maintenance n Event scheduling n Remote technical support n Theft alerts With Extron IP Link technology and Free GlobalViewer software, you don t have to be an IT expert to enjoy powerful, proactive asset management for your audio/video system. IP Link makes it easy to integrate A/V systems into existing IP networks, providing Web-based monitoring and control and unifying A/V equipment under a single common graphical user interface.
