1 Orientation Course - Lab Manual Using the Virtual Managed Workplace site for the lab exercises Your instructor will provide the following information before the first lab exercise begins: Your numerical value for the session. xx: (e.g. 01) Your Virtual Service Center In Internet Explorer, use the following URL: The name of the account used today is LPIxx The password for today is: The name of the VarDomain used today is LPIxx Login in to your Virtual Service Center:
2 Allow pop-ups from the Service Center site Some of the Managed Workplace screens use pop up Windows. Internet Explorer 6: 1. Launch the Internet Explorer. 2. Select the Tools menu and then Internet Options. Select the Privacy Tab to continue. 3. Under Pop-up Blocker select the Settings button. 4. In the Address of website to allow type: and then select the Add button. 5. Select the Close button and then press OK to close the Internet Options window. Internet Explorer 7: 1. Launch Internet Explorer. 2. Select the Tools menu then Pop-up Blocker and Pop-up Settings. 3. In the Address of website to allow field type: 4. Select the Close button to complete the task. 2

4 Objectives: Branding a site Adding: o Primary Company logo o Secondary Company Logo o Graphic Banner Add a Primary Company Logo 2. Navigate to Configuration > Service Center Settings. 3. Select the Branding tab. 4. In the Select an option for the primary company logo section click the New Image radio button and then Browse... button to continue the task. 5. Navigate to the area where the lab files were extracted. 6. Select the PrimaryCompanyLogo.jpg file. 7. Click the Save button to continue the task. Add a Secondary Company Logo You may start at Step 4 if you have not logged off. 2. Go to Configuration > Service Center Settings, and select the Branding tab. 3. In the Select an option for the secondary company logo section, click the New Image radio button. 4. Click the Browse button to continue the task. 5. Navigate to the area where the lab files were extracted. 4
5 6. Select the SecondaryCompanyLogo.jpg file. 7. Click the Save button to continue the task. Add a Banner Graphic Logo You may start at Step 4 if you have not logged off. 2. Go to Configuration > Service Center Settings and select the Branding tab. 3. In the Select an option for the banner graphic logo section, click the New Image radio button. 4. Click the Browse button to continue the task. 5. Navigate to the area where the lab files were extracted and select the BannerGraphicLogo.jpg file. 6. Click the Save button to complete the task. Add a New Colour Theme You may start at Step 2 if you have not logged off. 2. Go to Configuration > Service Center Settings and select the Themes tab. 3. Under the section labeled Themes Editor, click on the Table Header section. 4. In the section Select Background Color type in the info ff0066ff. 5. Click on the Update button on the right side 6. Beside the Save as Theme button up at the top, type in New Theme and click on Save As New Theme. 7. Scroll to the bottom and under Select Current Theme, chose the New Theme in the Current Theme box. 5
6 8. Click on the Set Theme button on the right. 9. Note it will say Settings saved. Re-login for the Theme to be applied. 10. Find the Status menu on the far left side of the screen and click on Log Out. The Log Out option will be above the Status menu. 11. Log back in with LPIxx.and note the headings labeled Groups and Sites have changed to the new colour theme. 6

8 Objectives: Create Site Groups Add Devices to the Site Groups Create a Site Group for all the Servers at a Site 2. Navigate to Configuration > Groups and under Browse By, ensure that the Site Groups option is selected. 3. Select the LPIxx in the Site dropdown and select the Add Site Group button. 4. Under Group Name type: Servers. 5. Under Group Description type: All Servers at the LPIxx site, and then press the Add and Configure button. 6. Go to the Devices tab and select the Apply to Other Devices button, then select all the Servers and select Add. Create a Site Group for all the Workstations at a Site 2. Navigate to Configuration > Groups, and under Browse By, ensure Site Groups is selected. 3. Select the LPIxx in the Site dropdown and the select the Add Site Group button to continue the task. 4. Under Group Name type: Workstations. 5. Under Group Description type: All Workstations at the LPIxx site and then press the Add and Configure button to continue the task. 6. Navigate to the Devices tab and select the Apply to Other Devices button. 7. Select all the Workstations and then click on Add to continue the task. 8
9 Create a Site Group for all the Network Devices at a Site 2. Navigate to Configuration > Groups and under Browse By, ensure that the Site Groups option is selected. 3. Select the LPIxx in the Site dropdown and then click on Add Site Group button to continue the task. 4. Under Group Name type: Network Devices. 5. Under Group Description type: All Network Devices at the LPIxx site. 6. Click the Add and Configure button to continue the task. 7. Navigate to the Devices tab and select the Apply to Other Devices button. 8. Select FortiGate200 SNMP enabled router and then Add to complete the task. 9

Select Configuration > Policy Modules and then select the Import from Library button to continue the task. 3. Place a checkmark next to the following Policy modules listed in the deployment Matrix: a. Fortigate_Firewall b. Linux_Distributions c. Microsoft_SQL_2005_Server d. Microsoft_Windows_2003_Server e. Microsoft_Windows_Vista f. Microsoft_Windows_XP_Professional 4. Click Import to complete the task. 11

14 Create a Workstation folder and a Windows XP Professional Service Group 2. Navigate to Configuration > Groups and under Browse By ensure that the Service Groups option is selected. 3. Select the Add Service Group button to continue the task. 4. Under the Group Folder section click on Other and create a Group Folder called Workstations. 5. Under Group Name type: XP Professional. 6. Under Group Description type: XP Professional Devices for ALL sites. 7. Click on Add and Configure button to continue the task. 8. Select the Apply Policy Module button, and then Microsoft_Windows_XP_Professional Policy Module. 9. Select Apply to continue the task. 10. Click on the Devices tab and select the Apply to Other Devices button. 11. Use the Description filter to assist adding all the Microsoft Windows XP Professional devices from all sites to the group. Create a Windows 7 Service Group 2. Go to Configuration > Groups and under Browse By ensure that the Service Groups option is selected. 14
15 3. Click on Add Service Group and under Group Folder ensure the Workstations option is selected. 4. Under Group Name type: Windows Under Group Description type: All Windows 7 Devices for ALL sites. 6. Click on Add and Configure and select the Apply Policy Module button to continue the task. 7. Use the Description filter to assist adding all the Microsoft Windows 7 devices from all sites to the group. Create SQL Server folder and a Microsoft SQL 2005 Server Service Group 2. Navigate to Configuration > Groups and under the Browse By ensure that the Service Groups option is selected. 3. Click on Add Service Group button, and under Group Folder click on the Other option to create a Group Folder called SQL Servers. 4. Under Group Name type: Microsoft SQL Under Group Description type: Microsoft SQL 2005 Server Devices for ALL sites. 6. Click on Add and Configure button and then select the Apply Policy Module button 7. Select the Microsoft_SQL_2005_Server Policy Module and then select Apply. 8. Select the Devices tab and then select the Apply to Other Devices button to continue the task. 9. In Filter By: drop-down option, select Installed Application. 10. From the Installed Application: pull down list, select Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and then select the SQL server with the Onsite Manager logo. 15
16 11. Click the Add button to complete the task. Create a Networking devices Folder and a Fortigate Service Group 2. Navigate to Configuration > Groups and under the Browse By ensure that the Service Groups option is selected. 3. Click on Add Service Group button, and under Group Folder click on the Other option to create a Group Folder called Networking devices. 4. Under Group Name type: Fortigate 5. Under Group Description type: SNMP monitored Fortigate Firewall. 6. Click on Add and Configure button and then select the Apply Policy Module button 7. Select the Fortigate Firwall Policy Module and then select Apply. 8. Select the Devices tab and then select the Apply to Other Devices button to continue the task. 9. On the SNMP column, from the pull down list select Yes. 10. Click the Check box next to the row for the Fortigate Click the Add button to complete the task. 16

18 Objectives: Connect to a device through Service Center using RDP Note: Use your numerical xx value for the session. Connect to a device from the Service Center using RDP 2. From the Central Dashboard, display the list of devices for your site by clicking on the integer representing the number of devices. 3. Select the device with the name XPTRN-xx and then select the Remote button on the top right of the page. 4. Ensure the Application drop down is set to Remote Desktop and then press the Connect button. 5. Take note of the Login screen and select the Cancel button to complete the task. 18

20 Objectives: Create a Script Job Schedule a Job to run Note: Use your numerical xx value for the session Schedule a Script 2. Select Configuration > Script and expand the File System Category. 3. Select the WinXP_DskCleanUp.zip script and ensure that WinXP_DskCleanUp.bat is in the File to Execute window. 4. Select the Jobs and then Add Job button. 5. Schedule the job to Run Immediately. 6. Select the Devices tab and then click on Apply to other devices button. 7. In Description dropdown menu option select Microsoft Windows XP Professional. 8. Select XPTRN-xx device and then click on Add and Save button to complete the task. 20

22 Objectives: Create a Website Monitor Create a Network Service Monitor Create a Bandwidth Monitor Note: Use your numerical xx value for the session Create Custom Alert Categories 1. Go to Configuration -> Alert Categories and select the Add Alert Category button. 2. Under Category folder, put a check in the Other box, and type Website in the Category Folder window. 3. In the Category field, type Website Down, and press Save. 4. Select the Add Alert Category button. Under Category folder, put a check in the Other box, and type Bandwidth in the Category Folder window. 5. In the Category field, type Utilization, and press Save. 6. Go to the Central Dashboard and take note of the new Alert Category. Look to the top right. 7. Go to Configuration -> Alert Categories and select the Add Alert Category button. 8. Under Category folder, Select OS. 9. In the Category field, type WEB Service, and press Save. 10. Go to the Central Dashboard and take note of the new Alert Category. Look to the top right. 22
23 Create a Website Monitor 1. Select Configuration > Monitor & Alert Rules and then click on the Website button. 2. Select LPIxx in the Site dropdown option and then select Add Monitor, ensure that the type of monitor to add is Website Performance. 3. Select the OK to continue the task. 4. Complete the Monitor Tab with the following information: a. Title: My Company Website b. Description: Website Monitor for c. Home Page URL: d. Site: Ensure LPIxx is selected in the Site dropdown e. URL: http 80 / f. Search Range: Ensure Header and Content is selected in the dropdown. g. Select the Contains radio button h. Type Managed Workplace as the search string 5. Select the Alerts tab on the top of the window and then click on Add Alert Configuration button. 6. Complete Alert configuration with the following information: a. Title: Level Platforms Web Site is Down b. Description: This will alert if the Level Platforms website is not responding 7. Complete the Alert Rules configuration by: a. Selecting the Add Alert Rule button to ensure that the Trigger alert if Website is down is selected. b. Click on Save. The Website Alert Rule Webpage Dialog should now appear. 23
24 8. Complete Alert Categories, Actions and Notifications configuration options: a. Select Add/Remove Category. b. Select Website Website down category and then click on Add >>. c. Click OK to close the Add/Remove Alert Categories Webpage Dialog and then click on Create Trouble Ticket as an Alert Action. 9. Click on Save to close the Monitor: My Company Website Type: Website Performance Webpage Dialog window. 10. Select the Save button to close the Website Performance Monitor Webpage Dialog window. Create a Network Service Monitor 1. Login to Service Center user interface with an Admin account. 2. Select Configuration > Monitor & Alert Rules and then select the LPIxx site and the WIN2K3OM-xx.LPITraining.com Device 3. Click on Add Monitor and select Network Services in the Monitor Type dropdown option. 4. Complete Monitoring Rule configuration with the following information: a. Title: HTTP Network Service Monitor b. Description: This is to monitor the availability and response time of the HTTP network service on this machine. 5. From the Network Service Rule section perform the following tasks: a. In Network Service select HTTP from the pull down list b. From the IP address list, select all c. Port, type 80 d. Timeout: select 8 seconds 24
25 6. Select the Alerts tab and then Add Alert Configuration button 7. Complete the Alert configuration with the following information: a. Title: HTTP is Down b. Description: This will alert when HTTP is down on this machine 8. Complete the Alert Rules configuration: a. Select the Add Alert Rule button b. Select 5 minutes in the Time Down option c. Click Save to close the Network Service Alert Rule Webpage Dialog window 9. Complete the Alert Categories, Actions and Notifications configuration: a. Select Add/Remove category b. Click on OS WEB Service and then select Add>> c. Click on OK to close the Add/Remove Alert Categories Webpage Dialog d. Click on Create Trouble Ticket as an Alert Action to continue the task. 10. Select the Save and then Save again to close the Network Services Monitor. 25
26 Create a Bandwidth Monitor 1. Login to the Service Center user interface with the Admin account. 2. Navigate to Configuration > Monitor & Alert Rules and then select LPIxx site and the WIN2K3OM-xx.LPITraining.com device 3. Click Add Monitor and then select Bandwidth in the Monitor Type dropdown menu. 4. Complete the Monitoring Rule configuration with the following information: a. Title: Bandwidth Monitor b. Description: This is to monitor the Bandwidth usage on this machine 5. Complete the Interface Selection configuration by selecting the network adapter (i.e.: Microsoft Virtual Machine Bus Network Adapter #2 (100000Mbps)) 6. Select the Alerts tab and then click Add Alert Configuration to continue the task. 7. Complete the Alert configuration information: a. Title: Bandwidth Utilization Too High b. Description: This will alert when % utilization of the interface is >90% utilized 8. Complete the Alert Rules configuration by: a. Selecting the Add Alert Rule button. Alert will trigger when the total bandwidth (in + out) is: greater than threshold 90 percent for the last 5 data point(s). b. Click Save to close the Network Service Alert Rule Webpage Dialog window 9. Complete the Alert Categories, Actions and Notifications configuration: a. Select Add/Remove Category, then click on the Bandwidth - Utilization and select Add>> b. Click OK to close the Add/Remove Alert Categories Webpage Dialog c. Select Create Trouble Ticket as an Alert Action. 26
