Step 1 Creating a connection 1. Ethernet connection. - Software Needed: o EtherX Software. 1. Click Search Button. 2. Select MAC Address for EtherBee/EtherPort (If you have multiple EtherBees/EtherPorts, there will be multiple MAC Addresses). 3. Make sure Use DNS is unchecked. 4. Set Server IP to address of local PC. 5. Enter any unblocked port on your network. 6. Click Save Settings. 7. Open GreenEyeSetup.jar program. 8. Click TCP/IP Server and enter the port chosen above. 9. Click Connect
Step 1 Cont. 2. Serial to GEM Server 1. Connect the Serial cable to the front jacks on the GEM Server. 2. Open the GEMSetup.jar program. 3. Click Server Discovery in the menu. i. Server Discovery will do a basic Port 80 scan over your entire network in order to find your Server. 4. Run the scan. 5. Enter the listed links into any web browser until the dashboard comes up. i. If the server isn t found, try increasing the timeout setting in Server Discovery 6. Choose TCP/IP Client, enter the IP Address of the Server. i. Port 8001 listens on the right port. ii. Port 8002 listens on the left port. 7. Issue a Check Firmware on the Debug screen to confirm that the correct port is chosen. The GEM should respond with the firmware version.
Step 1 Cont. 3. Serial-to-USB - Software Needed: o TCPCOM32. 1. Connect the DB9 cable to the serial terminal on the GEM unit. 2. Attach the Serial-to-USB cable to the DB9 cable. 3. Plug in the cable and install the drivers. 4. If using a Windows PC, open TCPCOM32 and create a client connection. 5. Open up the GreenEyeSetup.jar program. 6. Click TCP/IP Server, and enter the port chose in TCPCOM32.
Step 1 Cont. 4. WiFi Old Version 1. Hold down outside button on GEM and count slowly to 6. 2. Release button, when light flashes red, hold down button for a second and release. 3. View wireless networks on your computer and connect to GreenEye<number> 4. Change your IP to static, and enter IP 192.168.2.5, Mask 255.255.255.0, and Gateway 192.168.2.1 i. Gateway is required for Windows 7 PCs to create a Home network. 5. Open up the GreenEyeSetup.jar program. 6. Click WiFi option and connect, or click TCP/IP Server and enter Port 8000.

Step 2 Configuring your GEMs 1. System Settings. 1. Click the System option in the menu. 2. Click the Refresh button in the top right. 3. Verify your PT Settings if using the supplied PT. a. If a jumper is installed on HD7 behind the power input on the GEM i. Type: 187 ii. Range: 3 b. If no jumper: i. Type: 194 ii. Range: 4 4. Choose your packet format, for HTTP packets, continue in this document. 5. Check your phase settings, in most situations this should be set to Single Phase 6. Change your Packet Send Interval. a. For GEM Servers or Web Services, we suggest settings this to 10 seconds or greater. 7. Click Save Settings 8. If using the GEM Server, and if not hooked up to a network with Internet access, click the Set UTC Button a. Make sure your system time is set correctly before doing so.
Step 2 Cont. 2. CT Settings. 1. Click the Channels section in the menu. 2. Click the Update Summary button. 3. Select the Channel you want to configure. 4. Select the CT. i. If you re using 1 CT to monitor a 240V load, subtract 1 from the Range. ii. Range will either multiply or divide the value in half for each increment. Type is a fine-tune value. 5. Click Save Setting. 6. Repeat for each CT you want to change.
Step 3 URL Setup (Optional) 1. Click HTTP Packets in the side menu. i. For your own web server, choose the custom tab. See example below for: http://www.brultech.com/logger/logdata.php 1. Enter your URL (ex. http://www.brultech.com/) 2. Enter your Extension (ex. /logger/logdata.php) 3. Hit Save
Step 3 Cont. ii. For SmartEnergyGroups.com. 1. Download our SmartEnergyGroups.com Setup guide and follow the steps. 2. Select the channels, temperature, and pulses you want to send. 3. Hit Save.
Step 3 Cont. iii. Send to Brultech Server. 1. Find the IP of the Server, which can be found using the Server Discovery tool. Enter the IP. 2. Click the Save Settings button.
Step 3 Cont. 2. You can verify that the above settings by going to the Debug tab and waiting for a packet to arrive. It should follow one of the above packet formats. 3. (For Etherport/Etherbee only) To redirect it at the server: i. Enter the Servers IP address, and Port 80. Or, ii. Click Use DNS and enter the domain name, the Port will still need to be set to 80.
