The curse material will primarily fllw the Prject Management Institute methdlgy as presented in the Prject Management Bdy f Knwledge (PMBOK ). Additinal PM philsphies such as PRINCE2 and Agile will als be discussed. Case studies, articles, and a team prject will prvide practical cntext t supplement the lecture material. As Prject Management is a multi-disciplinary field, this curse is f interest t anyne wh wants a better appreciatin f the imprtance that PM plays in tday s cmpetitive envirnment. COURSE OBJECTIVES On curse cmpletin, yu shuld be able t: 1) Apply the cncepts f Prject Management (PM) in a crprate r industrial setting. 2) Create, analyze, calculate and present planning dcumentatin that defines a prject s requirements and its cnduct and cntrl in a team envirnment. 3) Evaluate prject prgress t determine deviatins frm plan and required actins. 4) Understand the imprtance that cmmunicatin, risk management, and change management plays in successful Prject Management. 5) Evaluate a prject s utcme t develp a thrugh Lessns Learned dcument.

Mini-Tests: The curse will cntain fur (4) Mini-tests as per the tentative curse schedule belw. Best three (3) tests will cunt twards final grade (5% each). Mini-tests will cnsist f 20 multiple chice questins and will be distributed at the beginning f the assigned classes and will be marked in class. There will be n make-up dates prvided fr missed mini-tests. Individual Assignments: The curse will cntain fur (4) individual assignments that will be psted t the curse website n D2L and typically due ne week fllwing assignment (per the tentative curse schedule belw). Each assignment is valued at 2.5% f yur final grade. Late assignments will be dcked 10% per day beynd the specified due date unless an alternate due date is arrange in advance due t extenuating circumstances. Team Prject: Thrugh prject planning is ne f the mst critical steps in maximizing the success f a prject. A team prject will be used t help yu gain sme experience with the rigurs f prper prject planning. Further details n this prject will be prvided later in the term. Final Exam: The Final Exam will be clsed-bk, clsed-ntes. The exam will be held at the University scheduled time and lcatin (details will be prvided when available). FACULTY BIOGRAPHY I.H. Asper Schl f Business, The University f Manitba Kathryn Atamanchuk, P.Eng., MBA, PMP is an Engineer-in-Residence in the Faculty f Engineering at the University f Manitba. She earned bth her B.Sc. (Mech Eng) and MBA degrees at the University f Manitba. Kathryn hlds a Prject Management Prfessinal designatin with the Prject Management Institute. She has als received Fundatin certificatin in PRINCE2. Prir t jining the University f Manitba, Kathryn wrked at StandardAer fr 13 years in rles such as Service Engineer, Prject Engineer, Engineering Manager, and finally as Directr f Engineering Services. In her capacity as an Engineer-in-Residence at the University, Kathryn supprts Manitba s Aer-Engine Test sectr thrugh delivery f industry related curses and facilitatin f research initiatives between the University and industry partners.
