This week, Jan. 11th -15th all seniors must submit their order online using the Diploma, Cap & Gown order link which is now on our PCSH website. You will be asked to enter your full legal name including your middle name, height and weight. There is no charge for this, and we provide all seniors who participate in the PCSH commencement ceremony on June 11th with a gown, cap and standard tassel free of charge. Your diploma, cap and gown order is due by Friday, January 15th. Even if you are not sure you will participate in the commencement ceremony, you must submit this order to ensure a diploma is ordered for you. Park Center's WE Act group will meet Thursday, January 14th at 2:10pm in room 110 to plan activities that help us meet our two WE Day commitments: fighting poverty locally and providing clean water for a community in Haiti. CCRC Announcements: The University of Minnesota will again be offering the Share My App Program for fall semester 2016. The Share My App Program works like this: All fall 2016 freshman applicants who have submitted a complete admission application to the Twin Cites campus may also be considered for admission at one or more of the U of M's other campuses (Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester) with no additional application and no additional application fee. All students will be directed to z.umn.edu/sharemyapp for more information about the program and to submit their request to participate. The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has joined forces with the University of Minnesota to offer a free ACT and SAT review course for students from historically underrepresented groups, including minorities and female students. The course runs for 10 weeks, meeting on Saturdays- starting January 9th and includes. Applications and more information are available in the CCRC. BrookLynk is where business needs meet youth experience. Students ages 14-19 can participate in work readiness training and experiential employment opportunities during a six to eight week paid internship. Interns explore diverse career interests, gain valuable on the job skills, make strong professional connections and prepare for meaningful careers. The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Aid. Seniors, regardless of your income, all families should complete the FAFSA annually because all federal financial aid and most state and institutional aid require it. On Tuesday, January 12th the CCRC will be hosting two mini sessions on how to complete the online FAFSA form. Sign up to attend either the 9:00AM or 1:00PM presentation. The ACCUPLACER Test will you be taking one? Accuplacer is a suite of tests that quickly, accurately and efficiently assesses reading, writing, math and computer skills. This test is used by college academic advisors and counselors to place you into college courses that meets your skill level. Students whose ACT scores are lower than the following range will need to take the Accuplacer: English 17 and below, reading 20 and below, math 21 and below. Minnesota State College and Universities now have a Two Year MnSCU Occupational Grant Pilot Program. This program provides financial assistance to students enrolled in qualifying career and technical programs at MnSCU two-year colleges so that students can complete the program within two years or less and find employment in a high-demand occupation. Qualifying occupations include CyberSecurity, Criminal Justice, Dental Assisting, Diesel and Heavy
Equipment Technology, Healthcare Technology, Small Engine Technology, Medical Assistant, Robotics Technology, Accounting, Cosmetology and many, many more. Sign up in the CCRC to attend this mini session to hear more about this exciting two year grant program. A representative from HTC will be here on Wednesday, February 3rd at 8:00AM to answer questions about their school and their programs, and to help students fill out on-the-spot online applications for admission. They provide free training in professional and computer skills, a paid corporate internship and free college guidance.
