Thus, only the German version is officially binding. 1 Profile of Qualifications (1) Graduates of the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz will be well prepared for a career in a dynamic, global environment. The program focuses strongly on developing skills for future managerial tasks as well as entrepreneurial, interdisciplinary and critical-analytical thinking and action. Students will earn two internationally recognized academic degrees and will spend two semesters each studying at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) and at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Troyes, Champagne School of Management (ESC). (2) Educational objectives within the Master s Degree General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz: Critical analysis, reflecting on issues from different theoretical perspectives, developing managerial qualifications based on sound academic theory. The profile includes technical and methodological skills in key functions of general management, personal and social skills, as well as intercultural skills in particular. Developing skills to understand and analyze complex issues and problems and develop solutions. Technical and methodological skills are developed through contact and independent study of functional management content. Students will expand their technical and methodological horizons to include the host country's perspective. The program will mainly be held in English and partly in French. Students will acquire technical and interdisciplinary active and passive language skills. The two semesters spent studying in France will allow students to acquire personal, social and intercultural skills enabling students to know and understand management concepts and economic relationships in the respective cultural and intercultural context. Specialization in selected areas of general management skills can be developed allowing graduates to position themselves with a specific profile.

2 Admission Requirements (1) In accordance with 54 (1) UG the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz belongs to the category of social and economic studies. (2) Admission to the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz requires official admission to both ESC Troyes and the JKU Linz. (3) The Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz is based on the Bachelor s or Diploma s program in Economics and Business at JKU. Graduates of this Bachelor s program as well as graduates of the Diploma s program in Economics and Business at JKU are admitted to the Master s program without any restrictions. (4) Graduates of Economics and Business or related programs at Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences, and other national or international post-secondary educational institutions can be admitted to the Master's program if their degree programs are equivalent to the Bachelor's or Diploma s program in Economics and Business at JKU. (5) Graduates of programs that are not equivalent according to 2 (3) can be granted admission on condition to complete additional courses with up to 20 credits during the first two semesters of their Master's study. (6) Admission requires English, C1 level completed in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language; if English is the applicant s mother tongue or main language at secondary school, the requirement is considered fulfilled. Proof of language proficiency in English can be also proven by submitting a copy of TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge Certificate scores. or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) (7) Additionally, admission requires French, B1 level completed in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language; if French is the applicant s mother tongue or main language at secondary school, the requirement is considered fulfilled. Proof of language proficiency in French can be shown also by submitting a copy of DELF B2. (8) Due to the common execution of the program with the ESC Troyes the university places are restricted and the applicants have to go through a special admission procedure. The admission procedure is based on an agreement between the participating universities and requires as a rule an application including covering letter / letter of motivation, Curriculum Vitae and certificates, as well as an interview. 3 Structure and Outline (1) The Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz covers four semesters and consists of 120 credits, which are distributed among the following subjects: (2) Students, studying the first year at JKU Linz and the second year at ESC Troyes Subject Compulsory Subjects Elective Subjects Internship (Stage) incl. For Free Electives students have to pass examinations corresponding to 6 credits, which can be chosen from any recognized national or international post-secondary educational institution. The Free Electives shall provide additional skills beyond the Master s program and can be taken anytime during the Master's study. For the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz advanced French language courses as preparation for the semesters abroad or another "Specialized Management Competence" are strongly recommended to be completed as Free Electives. 2. The recommended course of study for students, studying the first year at JKU Linz is shown in Appendix 1.

6 Courses (1) The names and the types of all courses of the compulsory and elective subjects, as well as their credits, their duration in hours per week, their codes, their registration requirements, and their admission procedures (in case of limited availability of places) are described in the study handbook of JKU. (2) The possible types of courses as well as the examination regulations are described in 13 and 14 of the JKU statute (Section "Studienrecht"). (3) According to the advancement program of woman at the Johannes Kepler University Linz following gender relevant courses are foreseen: Human Resource & Change Management Organization Human Resource Management & Organization Global Strategic Management (4) In accordance to 22 Abs 6 of the JKU statute (Section "Studienrecht") for courses to be completed at the partner institution the respective law applies. 7 Replacement of Subjects and Courses Compulsory and Elective Subjects according to 4 and 5 as well as courses according to 6 (1) may be substituted up to a total extent of 18 credits by other study specific subjects and courses upon student's request, provided that the purpose of academic professional preparatory training is not affected and the choice of the proposed subjects and courses seems reasonable with regard to the defined aims in the qualification profile, the academic context as well as to the addition to the professional preparatory training. The application of replacing subjects and courses has to be filed by the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs. 8 Master s Thesis (1) Students, studying the first year at JKU Linz and the second year at ESC Troyes 1. Students of the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz, who have finished their first two semesters at the JKU Linz, must complete a Master s thesis in written form according to the regulations at the ESC Troyes. 2. This Master s thesis 20 credits worth has to be completed successfully during the internship (Stage).

(2) Students, studying the first year at ESC Troyes and the second year at JKU Linz 1. Students of the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz, who have finished their first two semesters at the ESC Troyes, must complete a Master's thesis according to 81 UG and 36 of the JKU statute (Section "Studienrecht"). 2. The Master's thesis is a written paper corresponding to an effort of 23 credits. 3. The Master's thesis serves as a proof that graduates are able to perform scientific work autonomously and systematically. The topic of the Master s thesis must be taken from the selected subject Leadership Challenges, or the selected modules Specialized Management Competence according to 5 and must permit completion within a period of 6 months. 4. The Master s thesis has to be written in English. In compliance with the thesis supervisor the Master s thesis might be also written in French. 5. In addition to the Master's thesis, students must pass the Master's thesis seminar 1 credit worth. Besides scientific content also competences in presenting are considered. In any case the results of the Master s thesis have to be presented in the Master s thesis seminar before the Master s thesis is submitted for evaluation. 9 Examination Regulations (1) The regulations for examinations are described in the study handbook of JKU. (2) Subject examinations at the partner institution are liable to local regulations. (3) The Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz is concluded by a Master s examination. The Master's examination consists of two parts: The first part is the successful completion of the Compulsory and Elective Subjects according to 4 and 5. The second part of the Master's examination is the successful completion of the Master s thesis as well as the Free Electives. 10 Academic Degree (1) Graduates of the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz are awarded the academic degree Master of Science, abbreviated MSc or MSc (JKU) at the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the academic degree Master Grande École at the École Supérieure de Commerce Troyes.

(2) The certificate about the academic degree at the JKU Linz is issued in German and in English translation. (3) The certificate about the academic degree through the French Ministry of Education is issued in French. (4) The certificates have to indicate that the Master s Degree Program General Management Double Degree ESC Troyes JKU Linz has been a jointly executed program by both participating universities. 11 Validity (1) The curriculum will come into effect on October 1, 2013.
