Data Warehouse Developer This position description provides an indicative outline of the purpose and key responsibilities and tasks of the role. Title and Reporting Relationships Position title: Data Warehouse Developer Reporting to: Location: Business Intelligence Manager Greenlane / Penrose and other sites as required Purpose of the Role Responsible for data modelling, ETL development, creating and maintaining models within the data warehouse, ensuring high levels of data quality and high performance in the processes and in the availability of data/information. Includes involvement in the information delivery (aka reporting) side of the team. ETL /ELT development and maintenance as required. Design and build multidimensional data models / star schemas. Design and build the data presentation layer. Adhoc data analysis, data provision work as required. Adhoc reporting work as required. Adhere to SDLC processes used by the team (eg change management etc). Robust coding practices. Robust ETL / ELT processes. Robust data modelling that adheres to Kimball s data warehouse architecture approach. Robust development of the data presentation layer, marts, cubes etc. Timely and accurate data provided. Reporting work completed when required. Alignment with team structured processes. Qualification, Experience and Training Requirements What is the typical background required to competently perform the responsibilities of the job? Essential is the minimum acceptable level for entry. Preferred indicates the desirable level, but may also expand on the nature, eg: industry related, level of previous supervisory experience Essential Preferred Bachelor Computer Science or Information System PL/SQL programming and/or stored procedure development (4 years) Understanding of Dimensional Models (4 years) Unix (2 years) Programming languages (4 years) ETL Development with an enterprise ETL Tool (4 years) Data Warehouse (4 years) Working with Star Schemas (4 years) Knowledge or good understanding of BI tools (2 years) Knowledge or good understanding of Cube technology (2 years) Modelling Tools (1 year) Source Control Practice Master in Computer Science or post graduate degree in a related field.
