Phishing? According to the Anti-Phishing Working Group http://www.antiphishing.org/ Phishing attacks use both social engineering and technical subterfuge to steal consumers' personal identity data and financial account credentials. Social-engineering schemes use 'spoofed' e-mails to lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers. Technical subterfuge schemes plant crimeware onto PCs to steal credentials directly, often using Trojan keylogger spyware.

How does IE know it s a phishing site? Phishing Filter uses three methods to help protect you from phishing scams. 1. it compares the addresses of websites you visit against a list of sites reported to Microsoft as legitimate. This list is stored on your computer. 2. it helps analyze the sites you visit to see if they have the characteristics common to a phishing website. 3. with your consent, Phishing Filter sends some website addresses to Microsoft to be further checked against a frequently updated list of reported phishing websites.

What do I do? If you get a screen similar to below... Read it! What does this mean? Website certificates are designed to both encrypt the traffic between your browser and a website as well as make sure that you're communicating with the website you intended. Included in that website certificate is a number of different pieces of information such as the web address, or URL, expiration date, and certifying authority who verified this website was actually who they said they were. If any of these pieces of information are out of synch with the site you are attempting to contact, it may be due to a malicious individual attempting to fool you into revealing your personal information to them.
