SMS Snow Academy 2010 by Swiss Mountain Sports Crans-Montana / Switzerland Preambule Our goal is to provide a professional, fun and energetic learning environment, to ensure You, the students, have a sound knowledge of technical skiing/riding and teaching skills. SMS Snow Academy offers you an opportunity to kick-start your career in the exciting and dynamic industry of snow sport instructing. The achievement of such a level of qualification is the strongest and most successful step to get an entry chance into the process of the SSSA / SSBS education for ski and snowboard instructors. This will increase your chance of success to enter the Swiss process of becoming a qualified instructor and will further your employment prospects, as the Swiss diploma is highly recognized worldwide. You can obtain this level of qualification by participating in an educational program from early December to end of March in the resort of Crans-Montana known, to be one of the top 5 ski resorts of Switzerland. One pass for more that 160km of slopes between 1500 3000m. high Training in Crans-Montana s ski resort means enjoying a large ski area and varying terrain from 1500 3000m altitude. Crans-Montana offers vast possibilities for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers/riders, the resort is also renowned for its World Championship and World Cup Ski races. After hours and days off from training you can enjoy lots of activities available in the region. Course prerequisite No formal ski or snowboard training is required. You need to be an intermediate or above level skier/rider at the minimum. This is defined as skiing parallel or riding with balance and control on all groomed terrain, with an extension to performing varied sized turns, plus showing confidence on black runs and some off-piste areas. You must be 17 years of age upon course commencement and have the ability to present information in front of a group. You must also own appropriate equipment and, most importantly, have the willingness to learn.
SMS Ski Academy vs. SMS Snowboard Academy SMS Snow Academy offers two distinct both ski and snowboard instructor academy courses; a full-time course with the opportunity to 'earn as you learn' (subject to visa eligibility) and a part-time weekend course for those who only have the time to train towards certification on a part-time basis. Full-time Instructor Formula This course is ideal for gap year graduates or any one who intends to pursue a career in snow sports instruction. This comprehensive course is designed to maximize your potential and allows for time to develop your personal skiing ability.
