THE BRITISH COUNCIL International Specialist Seminar Communicative Language Testing 8-20 September 1985 in Lancaster This seminar will explore the theory and practice of communicative language tests and examine the implications which innovation in test design has for testing theory and test validation. Equally important will be an exploration of testing techniques consistent with a communicative view of language and language learning, which it is hoped will develop participants' expertise in test construction. The emphasis in the seminar will be on involvement, participation and collective development of experience and expertise. The Director of Studies will be Dr J Charles Alderson of the Institute for English Language Education, University of Lancaster. Qualifications of members Applicants should be practically involved in some aspect of the design or administration of testing programmes or tests of English as aforeign or second language at secondary, tertiary or teacher training level. There are vacancies for 30 participants. Fee: 590 (Residential only).
