DreamSpark Microsoft Approved Software Download Tutorial Q. What is DreamSpark? DreamSpark is a website that provides free Microsoft products to Westwood College School of Technology students. You may download and use any of the products on the DreamSpark website for use on your personal computer. Q. How much does it cost? The software on the DreamSpark website is available to Westwood students enrolled in the School of Technology at NO COST. Q. How do I download software from the DreamSpark site? Please follow these step-by-step directions: 1. Login to your class à Click on Syllabus. The syllabus will list the Microsoft software required for this course. Click on the link to DreamSpark. 2. 3. You will be directed to the DreamSpark website. Choose the category that describes your software. If you don t know your category, you can choose All. Then scroll through the list of software, find your title, and click on the title. 2012 Westwood College Page 2 of 10 Last Modified: 04/02/2012
4. You will see a screen with the list of all the available versions of software available. Select the version you need and click Add to Cart. If you are unsure about which version to select, check with your instructor. Always choose the Download option, not the Lab Install option. 5. 8. You are sent to the receipt page. Make sure to note your Product Key in red. You will need the product key to install your software. You will also be sent an email with a link that will allow you to retrieve your product key. Once you have saved your product key, click Start Download. 9. Follow the instructions provided to complete your download. NOTE: If you have downloaded software from DreamSpark before, you can skip steps a and b. a. If you have not downloaded from DreamSpark before click Download SDM. You will see the following screen. b. Click Save File. You will be prompted with a location. Remember where you saved the file. 11. The file will download. You will be able to watch the progress of the download. Be patient. Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, this could take over an hour to complete. 12. Once the download is complete, click Launch. 13. You will see the folder on your computer where the software was downloaded. You just successfully downloaded your approved Microsoft software. 1. You are now ready to install the software in your machine. You can mount the.iso file as a virtual CDROM using one of the freeware/shareware products below. If your course uses VMWare Player, also be aware that you can mount ISO files directly in the Player. This is useful for virtual operating system installations. Go into the VMWare Player CD drive settings, and change the setting to point to the ISO file you downloaded. a.
