5 Install Feith Document Database To install Feith Document Database (FDD): 1. Run the FDD installation package. The FDD Setup program opens. Click Next to continue. Note: If installing FDD on Windows Vista or newer, run the FDD installation package by rightclicking the package and selecting Run as administrator (even if logged in as an administrator). This will ensure that all of FDD s features work correctly. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 5

6 2. On the License screen, read through the license agreement. If you agree to the terms, click Yes to continue. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 6

7 3. On the Choose Destination Location screen, choose the folder where FDD will be installed and click Next to continue. The default location is C:\Feith. To choose another location, click Browse and select another folder. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 7

8 4. On the Select Components screen, you will be prompted to select a database. Select the database you wish to use and click Next to continue. Database choices are Oracle, MS SQL Server/MSDE and Informix. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 8

9 5. If the selected database was Oracle or Informix, another Select Components screen prompts you to select the database connectivity. Make your selection and click Next to continue. Connectivity choices for Oracle are Oracle8+ SQLNet, Oracle7 SQLNet, and Feith SQLNet. Connectivity choices for Informix are Informix SQLNet and Feith SQLNet. If your database selection on the previous screen was MS SQL Server/MSDE, this screen will be skipped. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 9

10 6. On the Enter Information screen, enter the connect string for your database and click Next to continue. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 10

11 7. On the next Select Components screen, you can opt to Enable Auto Logon for Single Sign-On, which will turn on the Auto Login option. This option should only be checked if you will be connecting to FDD using Single Sign-On. Please contact your system administrator if you are unsure whether your system is configured for Single Sign-On. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 11

12 8. On the Select Program Folder screen, accept the default or choose another folder. Click Next to continue. 9. FDD will be installed and you will receive a message confirming the installation is complete. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 12

13 Upgrade From a Previous Version If FDD is already installed on your machine, the FDD installer can automatically upgrade the current version. When you run the FDD installation package, you will be asked if you want to use the settings from the previous installation. If you click Yes, FDD will be automatically upgraded. Note: If upgrading from FDD View to FDD Scan, and you click Yes to use previous installation settings, note that the installer will remember you had no scanner configured and therefore scanning will not be enabled. This situation can be addressed by clicking No instead and going through the full installation process. If you click No, the installer will take you through the entire installation process so you can change the installation settings as desired. Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 13

14 Launch Feith Document Database At the end of the installation, a window will open containing the FDD Client icon. If you want a shortcut to FDD on your desktop, copy this icon and paste it to the desktop. To launch FDD, double-click on the desktop icon. You can also launch FDD by selecting FDD Client under Start Menu>Programs>Feith Systems. In order to run FDD, you must have read and execute permissions to the following directories: The FDD install directory. Default is C:\Feith\Fdd The database connectivity directory. Often is C:\oracle or C:\Informix The Pixtrans directory. Usually located at C:\WINDOWS\Pixtrans or C:\WINNT\Pixtran Feith Document Database 8.1 Install Guide 14
