Typical Applications for Permanent Monitoring Systems Optimizing Reservoir Performance Probe s ipro Permanent Monitoring downhole solutions allow fit for purpose designs, ensuring ease of installation. Our multiple conveyance techniques along with either of our Quartz or Piezo Resistive gauges ensure real time data is recovered from your well. While semi-permanent/drop spool systems require well-intervention, permanent systems remove the need for later intervention. Selecting the appropriate gauge and correct installation technique ensures minimum disruption to productivity and yields maximum return on your investment. Production and Injection Profiling Profiling provides important information necessary for effective reservoir management. Traditionally the data is obtained via intervention. However in many well scenarios this may no longer be practical due well pressure, rates, deviation and location. Permanent monitoring should be considered as a cost effective alternative. Draw Down & Build Up Testing Testing of this nature provides reservoir data such as permeability, skin damage and reservoir boundaries. The advantage of permanent gauges in this scenario is that instead of planning a shutdown to gain build up information, if the gauge is in-situ and you have an unplanned shut in you can obtain data. The advantage is that you can take the opportunity to update your reservoir model at this point, rather than via a planned shut in, which may not be desirable due to the intentional loss of productivity. Permanent Downhole Gauge Components Optimizing Reservior Performance Wellhead Pressure Outlet (dry tree) Terminates the permanent downhole cable and crosses over to the surface cable. This segregates the electrical connection and provides a pressure barrier to prevent hydrocarbon communication at the surface. Available in a threaded version, for low pressure connections, or flanged for higher pressure applications. ipro NEMA 4X Independent monitoring interface that communicates with and powers the downhole gauge. It is essentially a data logger with extended capabilities. It is specifically designed to the client s needs. Based on the application requirements, it can be configured from a comprehensive integrated system to a standalone solar powered unit with GPRS data transfer. Electrical Connectors / Splices Fully pressure testable inline connectors are utilized to join the permanent downhole cable. Used to save time when the cable has to be spliced above/below a packer or as a contingency, when damage accidentally occurs to the cable. Cable Protectors Cross coupling cable protectors provide relief to the cable and are designed to support and protect the cable from damage while running downhole. Available in either pressed steel, or a more robust all cast construction. ipro Gauge Mandrel The mandrel provides a mechanism for carrying the gauge to the reservoir while providing protection when installed. Available in various thread sizes, types, and materials suitable for standard and H2S environments. Permanent Downhole Cale Provides power to the K Perm from the surface, while transmitting real-time data back to the acquisition unit. It is a single conductor extruded inside a secondary metal tube. The cable is commonly ¼ in external diameter, manufactured from SS316 or A825. It is available in a number of different materials, configurations and dimensions. ipro DHQ / DHP Real-time permanent reservoir temperature & pressure sensor. It is housed in a 1 or 3/4 welded housing, complete with metal to metal, fully pressure testable cable head, and a digital telemetry. It is configurable for both tubing and annulus observation. 5

It operates with the ipro line of permanently installed downhole gauges. This versatile platform can be configured to suit your needs. It s a rugged and intuitive data logger that can double up and be optimized as a wireless base station for multiple surface sensors. ipro Wireless Sensors The ipro wireless range of surface sensors are self powered and contains signal conditioning circuitry and a RF transceiver operating in the 902 MHz to 928 MHz ISM licence free band. Data from the sensor is transmitted to the ipro NEMA SRO for centralized monitoring and data acquisition & transmission. Continuous data transmission for real-time surface readout capability. 8
Real Results Powered by Ingenuity Probe s Permanent Monitoring downhole gauge was successfully installed at the THUMS Long Beach company s gas well above the production zone on a mandrel ported to the tubular monitoring reservoir pressure and temperature. United States Objective Obtain life of well, reliable, accurate and cost effective data to assist reservoir knowledge and production efficiency. The system is designed to be cost effective and easy to install. Well Completion A310 is a Gas Producer which is located on the contract operated THUMS Long Beach Company s artificial island off the coast of California. The completion has been designed for a deviated production well with 8 5/8 casing, utilizing 5 1/2 gravel packed screens, with 2 3/8 tubing with Kuster s permanent downhole quartz gauge. Various monitoring methods have been utilized by THUMS in the past, although this is the first time an independent, real time, continuous, Quartz gauge has been installed.
