Product Line Overview Tnet WIRELESS MESH SENSOR NETWORKS The fusion of advanced sensor and actuator technology with state of the art wireless networks has enabled a whole new level of applications for industrial, commercial and residential management and control that were not possible until now. Telematics Wireless, a world leader in machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless networks, has created the Tnet Wireless Mesh Sensor Network. Tnet enables any number of sensors, actuators, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or portable devices to be connected in an intelligent mesh network configuration, providing bi-directional, reliable and efficient control of data, processes and assets; automatically and in real-time.

INDUSTRIAL SAFETY AUTOMATIC METER READING/ INFRASTRUCTURE (AMR/AMI) HOME AUTOMATION COMMERCIAL BUILDING AUTOMATION Applictions Tnet APPLICATIONS Tnet: INDUSTRIAL enables PLCs, sensors and actuators within large facilities to be smartly and wirelessly connected, providing reliable real-time process monitoring and control capability Tnet: SAFE provides portable and affordable wireless connectivity for people and assets in hazardous environments such as mines or chemical plants Tnet: AMR offers high performance, low cost wireless networks and end units, enabling efficient automatic metering of water, electric and gas utilities Tnet: HOME provides wireless networking and control solutions for the smart home Tnet: COMMERCIAL enables fast, easy to implement, wireless networks for integrated control of multiple system end points within commercial buildings, such as access control, lighting, ventilation and fire prevention BENEFITS OF Tnet MESH SENSOR NETWORKS Easily installed - "Plug & Play" capability as network nodes formulate connections automatically Scalable additional sensors and/or network nodes can be automatically incorporated into the network, with near-unlimited capacity Flexible configurable monitoring and control of system parameters such as unit types, topology, number of network nodes, power consumption and information rate. Robust nodes capable of operating continuously in harsh/remote locations Reliable guaranteed data transfer throughout the network Secure secured data communication ensures data integrity and prevents unauthorized tampering with the system Self healing network constantly re-adapts to changes such as the addition or removal of nodes, while maintaining data integrity and full connectivity at all times Ultra low power consumption enables battery-operated network nodes Low cost of operation use of several unlicensed bands, appropriate for each country, eliminates significant communication costs

Case Study Industrial INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENT Certain industrial markets, such as the food preparation industry, require extensive monitoring and control of many sensitive parameters, including temperature and pressure, throughout the entire production process. Companies are constantly looking to make their processes more efficient and centralized monitoring can help to improve factory and process management, thereby reducing costs. Tnet Provides a Comprehensive Solution: Individual wireless transceivers are connected to temperature and other sensors throughout the production facility. Network nodes incorporate a 4-20mA interface for direct connection to environmental sensors such as temperature sensors. Example: A large, fresh fruit juice company has its production plant spread across two facilities on two sides of a busy highway. Multiple temperature measurements, among others, must be taken at regular intervals from a multitude of sensors during the production process and at dispersed sites. WAN Challenges: Large amounts of real-time sensor data and production equipment operational status readings must be collected on a regular basis. The large area over which the production facilities are dispersed makes it impractical to install the required cabling infrastructure for wired sensors. Furthermore, the use of traditional cellular communication for data transfer is not cost effective. A section of the wireless network connects remote actuators and PLCs throughout the production facility and enables full two-way process control. The network nodes that connect to the sensors are battery-operated (with a guaranteed battery life of several years) reducing deployment and maintenance costs. Rapid installation by employees with no previous training. System can be easily upgraded either when more sensors are required (even when connected to the same existing node) or when additional network nodes are required. Increased efficiency real time sensor data and status is provided at the desired sampling rate. The entire network, specific areas or even single nodes may be controlled remotely over the Internet: - Parameters may be re-configured - Status and alarm information may be received and processed. A concentrated network gateway resides in the facility control room to collect/transfer all data to/from sensors and actuators, enable convenient two-way communication between the control room and the network elements. The gateway can be connected, using Modbus protocol to a local controller (via RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 or USB) or to a remote terminal via WAN, enabling data to be viewed remotely.

Case Study Mines MINES Tnet provides a very efficient solution for personnel tracking, asset tracking, and sensor reading in underground mines. The hazardous environment and lack of infrastructure in underground tunnels makes Tnet an ideal solution for remote data collection. Example: A mining company wishes to install a communications system to ensure the safety and efficiency of its workers and equipment. The system should maintain constant active and passive communications between the workers in the mine tunnels and the controllers above ground as well as identify the workers exact locations within the tunnels. In addition, the company wishes to continuously monitor the concentration level of explosive gases in different parts of the mine. Challenges: The network must consist of fixed and mobile elements in a constantly changing communication environment. The remote location and tough environment require a robust and powerful communication solution with low maintenance requirements.miners need to be monitored and their position tracked by controllers, in order to ensure their safety. The network needs to be completely scalable, to enable future growth without having to change the network nodes that have already been installed. Tnet Provides a Comprehensive Solution: The Tnet network maintains stable, real time, communication with thousands of mobile and fixed nodes in a constantly changing environment. Communications system nodes (relays) are affixed to the tunnel walls and enable bi-directional communication between the relays and the mobile wireless Tags, which are attached to the miners and mobile assets. The system continuously tracks the real time location of miners and mobile assets providing excellent safety and asset management capabilities. The concentration level of explosive gas is monitored continuously throughout the mine by dedicated sensors. Their readings are relayed through the network to the mine s control center where they are analyzed and acted upon, as required. Automatic and near-limitless scalability enables new members and elements to be added to the network with no extra training ( Plug & Play ).

ABOUT ABOUT Tnet WIRELESS MESH NETWORKS Tnet solutions from Telematics Wireless offer among the lowest cost and highest performance in the Wireless Sensor Network industry. Tnet s network architecture enables fully flexible two-way wireless communication for monitoring and active control using mesh networks. Tnet provides coverage of large areas with a minimal number of nodes, while low latency within the network enables events to be reported rapidly. Various system nodes have been developed for specific applications and customer requirements to ensure that any environment can be efficiently networked with a market-specific connectivity solution. The network end-units and relays can be connected to the sensors and actuators via RS-232, RS-485 or USB. Gateways (concentrators) can be connected directly to a processing station using similar interfaces, or they can supply the information to a more distant location when the gateway is connected to a wide area network (WAN), such as GPRS, WiFi or ADSL. Tnet can operate in any unlicensed frequency ISM bands as defined by each respective country s regulatory bodies. Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) techniques are used to enable the network to operate at higher transmission power levels and ensure interference immunity from other radio systems. EVALUATION KIT The Telematics Wireless Tnet Evaluation Kit enables potential customers to build and test a wireless network that connects some of their own sensors using Tnet nodes and interfaces. Its purpose is to readily obtain preliminary working experience with the network, thereby providing confidence for the successful building of more a comprehensive network.
