Bachelor of Information Technology [ Network security] Cybercrime is a growing threat globally to business, consumers and government. Every day, we rely on digital systems and networks to store sensitive data, communicate and transact, exposing us to the possibility of cyber attack. This has created an unprecedented demand for professionals who can secure and monitor these systems and protect personal and organisational privacy in cyberspace. Network security professionals design, configure, implement, manage and support secure computer systems, security policies and procedures. As cyber attacks and identity theft have become more sophisticated, the responsibilities of professionals in this field have increased and security specialists are now an integral part of many IT infrastructure teams. About the course The Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security) is a three year professional degree offered by TAFE NSW Higher Education 1 that prepares you for employment as a network security specialist in this fast growing and dynamic industry. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security) is offered at Meadowbank Campus, TAFE NSW Northern Sydney Institute. One of the largest colleges in Sydney, Meadowbank offers an extensive range of courses and specialist industry training facilities. Facilities include the a CISCO regional academy, See Street Gallery, hair and beauty centre, ship and boat building facilities, sports and fitness centre, massage therapy clinic, language laboratories, and a community services and health training facility. The teachers are the best in the field. Their teaching style, their friendliness and their approach is so good. I am able to approach them at any time with any questions. I know that I will get a response. I also like the small classes. After so many years of study I know TAFE so well I continue to like studying at TAFE. What are the entry requirements for international students? There are academic and English requirements for entry. Academic NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent (all applicants must have HSC Mathematics or equivalent) English Academic IELTS 6.5 (with no band lower than 6.0) or TAFE NSW Certificate IV in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or equivalent Additional Requirements Essay: 700 750 words maximum Describe, in essay form, a situation where you combined your knowledge and analytical skills to solve an IT problem. Please attach the essay to your application form. For example: Write about a computer problem you solved at home or in the workplace The problem can be related to software, hardware or both Write down the process you went through to solve the problem, what you did and why. It does not matter if you did not achieve a solution to the problem, it is the process you took that is important. Interview: Students may be invited for an interview (maximum 20 minutes) (to be conducted by phone/skype/video conference for offshore students) The interview will give you the opportunity to discuss your knowledge of the IT network security industry.
