Therefore, students should keep a certified receipt of their payments from the bank that they used to transfer funds to BFC. 3 If the student doesn t pay expenses by the deadlines, BFC will cancel his/her admission. 10. Status of Residence (VISA) International students need to get Status of Residence for study abroad to resister at our college. If foreign students can t get it before registering, they should finish the procedures as follows before the entrance ceremony. (1) Change of Status of Residence Certificate of admission will be issued to foreign students who have completed the entrance procedures. They should change to Status of Residence for study abroad with the certificate and other necessary documents to the Immigration Office. Please note: if the student currently has the School Attendance for high-school student visa, he/she must change it to a Studying Abroad for college/university student visa in order to study at BFC. (2) Getting the Status of Residence for the first time Foreign students who enter Japan for the first time (not having Status of Residence in Japan) need to get a visa for studying abroad at an Embassy of Japan or Consulate General of Japan. In such a case, if the 7

student has been granted a Certificate of Eligibility in advance by the Immigration Bureau, judgment to issue a visa will go smoothly. In the case of having the student s relatives as guarantors in Japan, the relatives should apply for a Certificate of Eligibility by proxy at the Immigration Bureau. BFC can apply for a Certificate of Eligibility by proxy for the student. Students who require this service from us, should make contact with our student affairs section and hand in the necessary documents after registration. The Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice judges about giving a Status of Residence. Our college cannot be responsible for any problems that may arise should the student be denied a visa. 11. Dormitory (1) The BFC dormitory has a limited capacity and space and cannot be guaranteed. (2) Application for the college s dormitory is accepted with the application to the college. Boarding costs and other expenses for dormitory accommodation should be paid simultaneously with other college expenses. (3) International students live with Japanese student in the dormitory. (4) Single room is available for each student. (5) International students who intend to live in our dormitory must obey the dormitory s rules, and accept the Japanese life-style, common sense and customs. 12. Entrance Ceremony and Opening Day at Bunka College Entrance Ceremony: April 6, 2016 Opening Day: April 7, 2016 13. Notice concerning Residence in Japan during Studying Abroad (1) Part-time Job International students are permitted to stay in Japan for the purpose of getting an education. If foreign students plan on pursuing other activities while they are here, they should be given Permission to Engage in Activities Other Than That Permitted by the Status of Residence Previously Granted by the Immigration Bureau in advance. BFC can assist a student in applying for the above permission as an agent if necessary. 8

International students who want to work while studying at BFC need to keep the following conditions in mind: 1 Students must not have any problems with their school record and attendance while working. 2 Working hours must be less than 28 hours per week. 3 The employer must not be involved in the entertainment and/or amusement trades. (2) Application for Permission to Extend a Period of Stay International students can get Status of Residence for studying abroad. If their visa runs out, they cannot stay in Japan and if they are on the register of our college after the period is over, they have to apply to the Immigration Bureau to extend the period of stay before the current period is over. BFC can perform the above procedure as an agent for the student. 14. Cautions and Information (1) The student must make sure before submitting his/her application that he/she can expect substantial sum of financial support from someone, or that he/she has prepared enough money to pay all expenses and living costs necessary to complete the course in which he/she wishes to enroll. The student should not make an optimistic estimation of the cost of living in Tokyo - well known as one of the most expensive cities in the world. Also, it is forbidden by Japanese immigration law to earn large amounts of money by working as a student (including private or part-time job) during study in Japan. (2) The student s Japanese guarantor must be very reliable, confidential, and easy to contact by the college because being a guarantor is a very large responsibility. To help you or represent you for the application procedure to the college and the legal procedures to the immigration office, the guarantor will have to visit us or make contact with us frequently, and will also occasionally need to go to the Japanese immigration offices. The guarantor s responsibilities also include monetary matters and matters concerning the student s living situation and the student s level of achievement while he/she is in Japan as a student. As this is the case, the student and his/her guarantor must have a trusting relationship and the student must keep in contact with him/her while he/she is a student of BFC. (3) The college s administration officers cannot help the student obtain his/her passport and/or visa except in the case of issuing the admission certificate to the college and the student identification card. The student (with help of his / her guarantor in Japan) is responsible to get all the necessary information and perform all the necessary procedures for getting his/her passport and student visa. (4) Bunka College has a strong relationship with the Bunka Institute of Language. Both are parts of the Bunka Gakuen Education Foundation. The institute is one of the most reliable and famous institutes of Japanese language instruction for foreigners. We recommend the institute for any student who needs to learn Japanese and wishes to do it in Japan. 9
