2 This entrance examination is for those with College Student, status of residence. Those with other statuses of residence are not eligible to apply for this program. However, those changing their status to College Student status of residence prior to enrollment can apply. 1. Number to be Admitted About 10 students per year 2. Major Field Management of Industry and Technology, Material and Life Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Precision Science & Technology, Applied Physics, Adaptive Machine Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Manufacturing Science, System, Control and Power Engineering, Advanced Electromagnetic Energy Engineering, Information and Communications Technology, Quantum Electronic Device Engineering, Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering 4. Application Requirements Applicants must meet all of the following requirements and must participate in program of Advanced Education Program for Career Development of Foreign Students from Asia as well. (*1) 1Newly come to Japan to participate in this program in April, 2012 (*2) 2Have especially excellent academic grade. 3Physically and mentally healthy enough to pursue study in university. (Note) You cannot apply for this program if you are conformed with any of the following items: a) You have Japanese nationality when applying. b) You are a military service member or a civilian employee registered on the active military list. c) You are not able to arrive in Japan by the designated date. d) You are a recipient of any other fellowship. e)you are applying for the same scholarship in some other university, or Japanese Government scholarship international student embassy recommendation in 2012 academic year, or repetition application with "Studying abroad for short time promotion system in 2012" conducted by the Japanese Student Services Organization. *1 A person who hopes to find employment in a Japanese enterprise after completion of master course, which is set as one of the Purposes of this project. *2 Admission will be revoked if a scholarship recipient is not able to arrive in Japan by the designated date. 5. Qualifications for Application Applicants must meet one of the following requirements and it is preferable to have Japanese language ability to pursue studies. 1Have completed or expect to complete 16 years of formal study in countries other than Japan by March 31, 2012.

3 2 Have completed or expect to complete correspondence courses in Japan which are administered by foreign schools and thus completed 16 years of formal school education in the said countries by March 31, Have graduated from a university in a foreign country (and have completed a total of 16 years of education) or expect to graduate by March 31, The foreign university should be an educational institution recognized as such by the local educational system, and the course the candidate is graduating from should match one of those designated by the Minister of MEXT (The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Technology of the Japanese Government). 6. Preliminary Screening All the applicants have to take the Preliminary screening and only those who have passed it can apply for the examination of Advanced Education Program for Career Development of Foreign Students. 1) Application Materials: for Preliminary screening Materials 1.Application of Preliminary examination for Advanced Education Program for Career Development 2. Certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency 3.Certified academic record (transcript) of the last school attended 4.Certificate of Graduation/ Completion from the last school attended Remarks Fill in necessary matters on a specified form (Type 1 of the attached form) Applicants should submit one of the following: 1. A Certification written by the academic advisor (no prescribed form) 2. A result of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students 3. A result of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test 4. Records from a Japanese language college 5. Document issued by the Center for International Education and Exchange (Former : International Student Center) Certificate from the school attended. (Written either in Japanese or in English.) Certificate from the school attended showing the degree obtained. Admission fee Admission fee: 282,000 Japanese Yen (Transfer fee is required).

Tuition fee Tuition fee: 535,800 Japanese Yen per year (267,900 Japanese Yen per a half year) (Transfer fee is required) Tuition fee can be automatically deducted from your bank account after enrollment. 12. Scholarship The scholarships below are to be provided to those who passed the selection. The amount of scholarship is subject to change. 1) Same amount of the application fee,admission fee and tuition fee. 2) Allowance: 155, 000 JPY per month. 3) No travel fare from Japan to home countries will be provided 13. Policy on Handling of Personal Information 1) Names, addresses, and other personal information will be used in the entrance examination process, in the publication of the list of successful applicants, and in the admission procedures. For those admitted to Osaka University, personal information will also be used for academic-related matters (keeping academic and registration records), for student support matters (health care management, school fee exemptions and applications for scholarships, career support, etc.), and for school fee management. 2) The information obtained from the entrance examination such as grade statistics and analysis will be used for research on admission methods. 14. Notes for the applicants 1) Incomplete documents will not be accepted. 2) Application materials will not be returned. 3) The content of submitted documents cannot be changed once the application procedure is completed, and the application fee is not refundable. 4) Applications will be rejected or admission revoked, even after admitted to the university, if any information or material in the application is found to be fraudulent. 5) The amount of application fee, admission fee and tuition fee are subject to change. Amendments to fees will be applied from the date of amendment. 15.
