Overview Many technology transfer offices (TTOs) of overseas universities show great interest in exploring Asian market, especially the mainland China. In view of that, the Soft-landing Programme for Technology and Innovation Collaboration (the Programme) is a 2-year programme launching with its objective to provide a platform for TTOs of overseas & local universities, research institutes, their spin-off and start-up companies to promote their innovations and technology to Hong Kong industry. Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) will offer full range of supports and resources to them for exploring new business opportunities in Hong Kong as well as the mainland China. Objectives The 2-year programme aims :- To attract overseas participants to promote their technology and innovation in Hong Kong; To facilitate overseas participants to set up strategic outposts in Hong Kong by offering them resources and supports; To foster collaboration between academia and industry for the adoption of new technology through match-making services; To enable local industry to collaborate in innovation and technology development with local and overseas TTOs; and To promote Hong Kong as the innovation and technology hub in Asia for commercialization of research outputs due to its proximity to the markets Target Participants Below organisations from overseas and Hong Kong, interested in commercializing their R&D outputs through the establishment of collaborative relationship with companies in Hong Kong and the mainland China, are eligible to join this programme :- TTOs; R&D centres; Research institutes; and Spin-off or start-up companies of the abovementioned organisations 1 P a g e

The Programme For local TTOs and R&D centres, we will offer them opportunities to promote their innovations and technologies to the potential business partners in Hong Kong and the mainland China by posting the project information to our dedicated website, arranging match-making activities, inviting them to seminars, etc. For shortlisted overseas TTOs and R&D centres, they will be offered with :- shared office space for soft-landing during visits to Hong Kong; networking and match-making activities targeting to different industries; familiarisation programme for market, legal and business development which includes factory visits, meetings with industry leaders and workshops; dedicated project website for both overseas and local TTOs to post their project information; and support partial travel arrangement (air-ticket and hotel accommodation) for the senior executives of overseas TTOs, key researchers and project leaders. Selection of overseas TTOs An evaluation committee comprises representatives from HKSTPC, industry organisations, academic institutions and research institutes will be formed to select which overseas TTOs to be participated in the Programme. The panel will play an important role in identifying high potential TTOs and its projects from the list in order to ensure the relevance of the technology can be effectively promoted in this project. A two-tier mode programme will be offered to overseas TTOs and R&D centres. Tier 1 - For overseas TTOs which can present an array of technology of the highest relevance to Hong Kong s industry, they will be entitled to :- exchange the trend and development of technology transfer, as well as the research capability, through promotional seminars which to be carried out in Hong Kong and Shenzhen / Pearl River Delta Region obtain partial travel subsidies, up to HK$30,000, to offset the round-trip economy air-ticket and hotel accommodation expenses of the senior executives of selected TTOs during their stay in Hong Kong and/or Shenzhen/Pearl River Delta Senior representative(s) of selected TTOs or R&D centres should put more efforts in promoting their technology and innovation to local industry, fostering collaboration in R&D projects with local industry & R&D institutes, recommending project leaders/researchers to meet with potential collaborators in HK or PRD. Besides, representatives of selected TTOs should recommend potential spin-off and start-up companies to join the Programme. It is expected that each selected TTO will nominate 5 spin-off or start-up companies to join it. The nominal entrance fee is HK$10,000 per annum. 2 P a g e
