As you follow the instructions in the email and click on the Complete Your Registration link, you will be directed to the following Account Registration screen, where you need to enter your name and choose a password. Page 2

When you have completed registration you will see the following screen: Page 3

Ordering Software Complete the following steps for each software title you wish to order. It is suggested that you read these directions closely before proceeding so you understand the full process. You may select multiple titles in a session, or you may order one title now and other titles in new sessions. Click the link for Software near the top of the page to display the screen shown above. Products available for check-out, download, or purchase via mail order can be browsed by category from the list on the left hand side of the screen. Note: If you purchase a software title via mail order Page 4

you will not be allowed to download or check-out the same software later. Should you lose your installation due to hardware failure or if there are problems with your media, you will be required to deal with the vendor directly; the college will be unable to provide assistance. You will select your software and put it into your cart. If you borrow software from the Library Media Center, you will still put titles into your cart and the price will be free, (the Download option is also free). If you purchase media, a price will be listed along with shipping options and costs. Some titles are available to borrow, download, or purchase and others are available for only one or two of these options. When you select your software, you will see options for that title (unless there is only one option for delivery, in which case you will simply add the selection to your cart). If it is only available through the Library Media Center, there will not be an option to purchase or download. Borrowing from the Library Media Center o Cost is free o Works like a library; borrow the media for installation on your home computer and then return the media o Continue the process as if you were purchasing and proceed to Check Out. Print the receipt page that shows order information and bring it, along with picture ID, to the Library Media Center. o Keep the receipt as it has your unique Product Key, necessary for installation. Downloading o Cost is free o Requires the use of third party software to either unpack the.iso file that is downloaded or burn it to a CD/DVD in order to install the software (for further instruction, see Download Instructions below). o The fastest method when you are not on campus, (if you have a high speed internet connection). Purchasing Media o You can use a credit card to order copies of some media, for purchase. o Prices for media are consistent with the cost of the media rather than the software cost and are subject to change. o If you decide to purchase the media, then you will be charged for shipping. You will make choices on shipping times and cost when you check out. Page 5

If you want a product that you do not see listed on the Software page: Click All for a complete list of titles currently available or choose a category most likely to contain the product you are looking for (example: Servers for Windows Server). Select the product you want Page 6

Click the Add to Cart button for the preferred option (Download, etc.) Click Check Out Page 7

Our license allows BC to make the software available to students in eligible classes. Students agree to use the software for educational purposes, not commercial purposes. The agreement also prohibits you from selling the software or profiting from it in any way. Click the I Accept at the bottom of this page. Page 8

Confirm that your name and email address are correct Check or uncheck the box to receive informational emails from Microsoft Click the Proceed With Order button Page 9

Receipt screen. Bring a screen shot or print out of this screen to the library for checkout. Notice the Product Key for the software you have selected on this page. Please note that some of the products will not require a product key (i.e., Visual Studio). You must still bring a screen shot or print out of the receipt in order to check out disks from the Library Media Center. Remember to also bring photo ID along with the receipt for checkout. Once you have completed your order you will get a confirmation email at the email address you specified. This email will NOT include your product key. You will be required to log in again to get it if you did not keep a copy of the order details. DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS: Note: DreamSpark software downloads are compressed files in the.iso format. These files must be burned to CD/DVD or extracted onto your hard drive to install. Generally, special software is required to extract.iso files. 7-Zip is one example of software that can do this. It is free and relatively easy to use, however BC does not endorse or support it (so you are on your own). The software can be downloaded from http://www.7-zip.org/ Page 10

Downloading DreamSpark software follows the same procedure as checking out or purchasing, until you reach the final steps of the process. After you complete the above steps, to begin the download of your software you must click on the Download Options link in the product description for your order. Left click on Download Options to begin the download process. A small window may pop up when you left click on Download Options that describes what to do should your download fail. Click on the underlined link for the software you are ordering to proceed. After clicking on the link, a new window will appear with a Start Download button in the middle of the window. Click on Start Download to proceed. Page 11

Click on the Start Download button to proceed. Note, you may see a third pop up window asking you to select continue or cancel; if you see this window, left click on Continue to proceed. Next you will be asked to save or cancel the download utility file. Click on Save. You must click on Save File to proceed. After clicking on Save File, your computer will download a small executable file that links to the much larger.iso file. The executable file will be downloaded to the section of your hard drive that you specify (default is usually the Temp folder on the root level of your C: drive or to the desktop, see figure below). The small file will download quickly to the location specified in the previous step. It is an executable file (.exe) and probably looks like a lightning bolt on a purple background. Once this file has downloaded, navigate to the location of the file and or from the Downloads pop up window, double click on the.exe file to begin the Authorization stage of the download process. Page 12

Click on Start Download to begin downloading your software order. The downloader will begin downloading the.iso file once you double click on Start Download, though it may take a few seconds for the download to begin. Page 13

The download, once begun, can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on size of the file and speed of your internet connection (if you do not have a high speed internet connection, it is strongly advised that you check out the software from the library). Once the download has completed, you will be asked to launch the installation of your software: Note, from this point on the installation process may differ depending on your operating system, but for Windows 7, once you left click on Launch Install you will be prompted to run the Setup.exe file for your software: After clicking on Run Setup.exe, follow the prompts to complete installation of your software.
