User Guide Learn How to Install AeroFS and get started syncing and sharing securely What is AeroFS INTRODUCTION AeroFS is a file sharing and syncing tool that allows you to share files with other people by simply saving or moving a file into the AeroFS folder on your computer. Once a file has been shared, each user will have a copy of the shared file on their computer and will be able to access the file online or offline. If you are away from your computer, you can also access files shared through AeroFS from a web browser or through the AeroFS mobile app. You always have complete control over which files are being shared and who has access to the files. AeroFS is 100% secure, and unlike other file sharing tools, AeroFS never hosts or stores files being shared through the AeroFS service. THE AEROFS KNOWLEDGE BASE AeroFS also provides an online knowledge base at http://support.aerofs.com/home. The knowledge base compliments the information provided in this user guide. USER ROLES When sharing, remember to assign the appropriate role for each of the people that you are adding to a shared folder. Each Role in AeroFS determines what a user is allowed to do within a folder. There are three different roles in AeroFS. OWNER The Owner has the greatest control over a shared folder, and is usually the person who created the shared folder. An Owner can: Invite new users to the folder Change any user s role in that folder Add new files to a shared folder Update existing files in the shared folder EDITOR An Editor can make changes to the files of the shared folder by adding new files to the folder or saving new versions of an existing file in the folder. The changes made by the Editor are then shared with all other users that have access to the folder. VIEWER A Viewer can only download files from the shared folders. Any files that a Viewer adds to the shared folder or updates made to an existing file in the folder will not be shared to the other users who have access to the shared folder. REMOVING USER FROM A SHARED FOLDER If you are the Owner of a folder you can remove other users from the folder from both the desktop client as well as the web client. Click on Manage Shared Folder option. Pick the appropriate folder. Click on the user s role and choose Remove from folder on the web client, or Remove User on the desktop client. ABOUT AEROFS AeroFS delivers highly secure, enterprise-class file sharing and synchronization solutions that enable enterprises to better control and secure their data and increase collaboration among users. Like Dropbox and other online file-sharing offerings, AeroFS allows users to simply drag and drop files into a folder to sync and share them with colleagues and external partners. Unlike those offerings, however, AeroFS is deployed on the enterprise s own infrastructure, and so enterprise data always stays under company and IT control. Files are shared directly between users devices, and enterprise data never resides on AeroFS servers. The company is funded by blue-chip investors, including Avalon Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, NHN Investment, and others. Learn more at aerofs.com. 2015, Air Computing, Inc.
