Both the agenda and the April 12, 2010 meeting minutes were approved as written. Information Sharing Each of the STAG members provided updates on current projects. Current themes included: EHR implementation: assessments and baseline measures (Ho, Hornbeck) Cisco overhaul on phone equipment with push to talk features and Informacast to help providers communicate (Ho) Basic network access protection and VLAN Authentification (Ho) Power/Generator issues re: accessing EMR (Ho) Beta-testing social networking (Acosta) MPLS implementation (Howell, Powers) Going Green/paperless/other file storage options (Howell) Migrating sites over to VOIP (Valdes) EDR funding & migrating to Dentrix (Hornbeck, G. Diaz) Virtualization projects (Kifer) Population management tool development (G. Diaz) Server cooling issues (Ho, Hornbeck) Follow up Questions and Items from Sharing Discussion: Information requested regarding CHFFA Loan Fund Information requested regarding other PCA s IT work (Amanda to set up a call between STAG Chairs and other PCA IT Staff) CalHIPSO Update Rich Swafford, Chief Technology Officer of CalHIPSO, provided an update and overview of current CalHIPSO activities. Issues included:

Development of 4 REC s, two of which are maintained by CalHIPSO, coordination among all organizations Release of the final rule on meaningful use Working on vendor selection process for group purchasing Submitting budget to ONC and currently in third round of funding First set of providers to be enrolled in June Electronic Dental Record Demonstration Project While dental practitioners qualify for meaningful use incentive funds, there are a lack of agreed upon diagnosis codes or measures. CPCA is currently exploring an EDR/EMR demonstration project to show how the systems can work together. Those interested in participating on this project should contact Amanda Stangis or Andie Martinez at CPCA. HIPAA Affinity Group Follow-Up Items: Developing RFPs and Working with Vendors on HIPAA 5010 Implementation CPCA is currently working on RFPs and vendor partnerships to help implement HIPAA 5010 guidelines, however we need more input from those actually involved with the process. If you would like to participate or provide information, please contact Leyla Avila at CPCA at lavila@cpca.org. Best Practices/Feedback on Security Breaches in a Post-HITEC HIPAA Environment CPCA developed a sample flow chart on breach notification and will be having a training regarding this topic in the upcoming months. HIT Landscape Survey Discussion Andie Martinez from CPCA introduced her HIT Landscape Survey, which will be released in a few weeks and requested feedback on it by July 30, 2010. Specifically, the feedback from last year was that the survey should be expanded beyond the original questions, so please review for context and proper verbiage. Next Meeting Date The group agreed that the next STAG meeting would take place in Sacramento or in the Central Valley on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 10:30am-3:30pm. The HIT Summit for March 2011 will tentatively be held in the San Diego/Orange County area. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 3:30pm.
