The 4-star unit Herdade da Cortesia Hotel located in Avis, just a 2-hour ride from Lisbon, is only one year old. The project was born at the hands of two Portuguese sailors who in 1997 planted the roots. The first conversations and contacts with international Olympic paddling teams concerning the construction of a high-quality hotel with the perfect conditions to practice sports led some promoters of the project to the early building of the company Avizaqcua Team Center. Although they knew the hotel infrastructures still hadn t been created, there was a sudden interest on part of some Olympic teams to try the facilities at Vila de Avis and Maranhão Dam as a practice centre. The Herdade da Cortesia Hotel has 30 rooms. The ground floor comprises all guest rooms over three different areas and the first floor includes the bar, the restaurant and the kitchen of the hotel. Facilities include an outdoor 25m length swimming pool.
