What You Will Need Stanford Health Care (SHC), Stanford School of Medicine (SOM), or Stanford Children s Hospital (SCH) Issued System Remote access through the use of the BIG-IP Edge Client can only be used on encrypted computers that have been issued by SHC, SOM, or SCH. Duo Enrolled Device Remote access requires you to have a mobile device, tablet, and/or landline phone enrolled within Duo for login and authentication purposes. If you need a to enroll a mobile device, tablet, and/or landline phone within Duo please note the following: o Physicians: You can contact SHC Service Desk at 650.723.3333 for assistance. o All other users: You are required to submit a form at https://stanfordhc.service-now.com. If you have any questions regarding this form, please contact SHC Service Desk at 650.723.3333. BIG-IP Edge Client - In order to access the SHC network remotely, you will first need to ensure you have the BIG-IP Edge Client application installed on the desktop or laptop you plan on using. To verify if you already have this application installed complete the following actions: o On a Windows client, click on your start button and type in BIG-IP Edge Client in the search field. If you have this installed, you will see the BIG-IP Edge Client application appear under All Program files. o On a MacBook, click on your application folder, and you should see the BIG-IP Edge Client application in this folder. If you do not already have the BIG-IP Edge Client installed, you will need to download it from https://vpn.stanfordhospital.org Page 3
Installing F5 Edge VPN Client for Mac 1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on Mac OSX. 2. The download will begin, and once it completes click the file to start the install. For Mac 10.5 For Mac 10.6/10.7 3. Installer pop up will appear, click Continue. 4. Click Install. Page 4
5. When prompted, type in your password to allow the application to install. Page 5
Installing F5 Edge VPN Client for Windows 1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on Windows. 2. You should then see a pop up like below asking you to either run or save the WindowsEdgeClient.exe file. Click Run to continue with the download. 3. If you see this security warning, asking to allow this program to run, click Run. 4. When you see the installation wizard pop up, click on Next. Page 6
5. Click on Install. 6. When prompted to allow the client to install to your computer, click Yes. 7. Once the install completes, you will see this setup wizard indicating the install has completed, click Finish. Page 7
Logging into F5 Edge VPN Client for Mac 1. Find the F5 BIG-IP Edge click by opening your application folder and finding the application here. For Mac 10.6/10.7 For Mac 10.5 2. Or look at your system tray and click on the F5 icon and then click on Show Main Window. 3. Click the Connect button. 4. Enter your SHC credentials and click on Next. The F5 BIG-IP Edge client will initialize and connect. You will see the following once you are connected. To disconnect, simply click on the Disconnect button. Page 8
Logging into F5 Edge VPN Client for Windows 1. Once you have installed the F5 BIG-IP Edge client, you can connect by running the F5 BIG-IP Edge application. Click start and find the application called BIG-IP Edge Client under all programs and click on it or click on your system tray and double-click on the BIG-IP Edge icon here. 2. Click on Connect. OR 3. Then you will see this pop up where you will enter your SHC login credentials and click Next. The F5 BIG-IP Edge client will initialize and connect. You will see the following once you are connected. To disconnect, simply click on the Disconnect button. Page 9
