Construction Site Safety Master In order to obtain this certification, Construction Site Safety Master (CSSM) candidates must: Successfully complete NCCER s MTICTP or ICTP class* AND fulfill at least one of the following education and training requirements (provide a copy of applicant s resume detailing these requirements): Current certification as an Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional (valid certification number required for verification) Associates of Applied Science degree in safety (OSH) and five years of professional construction safety experience A Bachelor s degree in Safety from an Accredited Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) approved program and four years of professional construction safety experience Any Bachelor s degree (four or more years, AA/AS not applicable) with a minimum of five years of full-time construction safety experience Successful completion of NCCER s Safety Technology with a minimum of five years of full-time construction safety experience Minimum of 10 years of full-time construction safety experience Once the above requirements are met, candidates must complete and submit, through the ATS, the Form 800 (Construction Site Safety Master Verification of Qualifications) available in the forms section on NCCER s Website (www.nccer.org). Below is a list of the credentials the CSSM can deliver. CSST Instructor Safety Technology CSSS Instructor Field Safety 2

Construction Site Safety TECHNICIANS In order to obtain this certification, Construction Site Safety Technicians (CSST) candidates must: Successfully complete NCCER s MTICTP or ICTP class* AND successfully complete either edition of NCCER s Field Safety and NCCER s Safety Technology AND fulfill at least one of the following education and training requirements (provide a copy of applicant s resume detailing these requirements): Possess an Associate s Degree or higher in Safety from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a minimum of two years of experience in the construction industry Have five years of experience as a safety trainer, instructor, educator, or safety supervisor in the construction industry Below is a list of the credentials the CSST can deliver. CSSS Instructor Field Safety 11 Selected Modules from Safety Technology (see matrix for identified modules at the end of this document) 3

Construction Site Safety Supervisor In order to obtain this certification, Construction Site Safety Supervisor (CSSS) candidates must: Successfully complete NCCER s MTICTP or ICTP class* AND successfully complete either edition of NCCER s Field Safety and 11 modules from NCCER s Safety Technology (see matrix for identified modules at the end of this document) complete the OSHA 500 (must provide a copy of the credential) AND fulfill at least one of the following education and training requirements (provide a copy of applicant s resume detailing these requirements): Possess an Associate s Degree or higher in Safety from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a minimum of two years of experience in the construction industry Have five years of experience as a safety trainer, instructor, educator, or safety supervisor in the construction industry Have Journey-level craft experience Below is a list of the credentials the CSSS can deliver. Construction Site Safety IENTATION In order to obtain this certification, Construction Site (CSSO) candidates must: Successfully complete NCCER s MTICTP or ICTP class* AND successfully complete either edition of NCCER s Field Safety complete the OSHA 500 (must provide a copy of the credential) AND fulfill at least one of the following education and training requirements (provide a copy of applicant s resume detailing these requirements): Possess an Associate s Degree or higher in Safety from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a minimum of two years of experience in the construction industry Have five years of experience as a safety trainer, instructor, educator, or safety supervisor in the construction industry Have Journey-level craft experience Below is a list of the credentials the CSSO can deliver. 5

NCCER offers two types of instructor certification training programs that teach instructors how to instruct using the NCCER Curriculum. MASTER TRAINER In order to obtain this certification, Master Trainer (MT/ICTP) candidates must: Successfully complete NCCER s Instructor Certification Training Program for Master Trainers, which is presented directly by NCCER, and be employed or endorsed by an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor, and demonstrate at least one of the following: Two years of experience as a trainer, instructor, or educator An Associate s Degree or higher in education, a construction-related field, industrial arts, or similar field from and accredited post-secondary education institution A minimum of two years of experience at a supervisory level or higher in the construtction, maintenance, or pipeline industry CRAFT/TECHNICIAN INSTRUCT In order to obtain this certification, Craft/Technician Instructor (ICTP) candidates must: Successfully complete NCCER s Instructor Certification Training Program for Craft/ Technician Instructors, which is presented by NCCER Master Trainers, and be employed or endorsed by an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor, and demonstrate at least one of the following: Minimum of journey-level or technician-level in their area of expertise Minimum of three years experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction, maintenance, or pipeline-related training program 6
