LANDMARK MONITORING SERVICE Immediate Response for Monitored Personal Attack Button A Personal Attack signal from a monitored alarm will be immediately responded to. With a bellonly alarm you are relying on a neighbour coming to your aid. Duress Signal With a monitored alarm you can send a secret code signal to the Alarm Receiving Centre if you are forced to turn off the alarm. With a bell-only alarm the bell would be stopped and no one would be alerted to help you. Fire Safety Most battery operated smoke detectors are not properly maintained and a conventional standalone smoke detector may not activate fast enough to ensure the occupants are woken up in time. A unique Fire Detector detects lethal smouldering fires quickly and because it is linked in to your monitored alarm system, we can call the Fire Brigade if you are incapacitated. The Fire monitoring part of the alarm system stays set even if the main intruder alarm is not set. Fire Protection If you are not in the house and fire breaks out, you are relying on a neighbour/passer by to call the Fire Brigade. With a monitored alarm system the monitored Fire Detector can rapidly detect the fire, and the Alarm Receiving Centre will quickly call the Fire Brigade. This is particularly important if you have pets who could be trapped in the property. Online Fault Rectification With a bell-only alarm if a fault develops an Engineer will most likely need to attend the site. The home-owner will then have to wait for an Engineer to arrive. With a monitored alarm system using the latest technology, we can send an electronic tool box down the monitoring line, to carry out fault diagnostics and rectifications. False Alarm Management With a monitored alarm you have an internal siren to deter the burglar, but you do not necessarily need a loud external siren because you are not relying on neighbours/passers by to come to your aid (they very rarely will most neighbours get fed up with ringing burglar alarms). If you are away for a period of time (e.g. on holiday) and there is a problem with your alarm which requires entry to the house to rectify we can alert a key holder. With a bell-only system a fault may persist for the whole time you are away, and no one may be available to attend to the problem, and a ringing alarm with nobody attending is an open advert to a would be burglar. FAQs Q. How quickly can I have an alarm installed? A. Landmark Security recognises that having made the wise decision to secure your home it is essential that your security needs are met promptly and efficiently. A Landmark Security alarm system can normally be fitted and activated in your home by a fully qualified engineer within 48 hours of your order. Q. Can I take the system with me if I move? A. If we have service and alarm response cover in the area you re moving to, yes. Landmark Security engineers must remove and refit the system and the customer will be charged installation price only. In reality, the incoming occupant usually wants the alarm and will negotiate a price with our customer. The Lifetime guarantee is transferable to the incoming occupant. Q. What happens if I have an extension built or have new doors or windows fitted? A. As our alarm systems are wireless, existing detectors can be moved easily or additional detectors added in order to maintain levels of security throughout your home. Q. Can I have the alarm on when I m at home? A. Yes. The alarm system can be set to have certain zones or sensors omitted in order to provide protection from intrusion while you are at home. In addition any panic button or smoke detector will work whether the system is set or un-set. Q. Will my system interfere with my existing telephone and/or broadband connection? A. No, we install a hard wired ADSL filter as standard so there is absolutely no interference with your telephone line or your broadband connection. Q. What range do the wireless devices have? A. The devices have an uninterrupted range of 100 metres. This can be substantially boosted with the installation of a repeater. Q. Will my system false alarm? A. The vast majority of false alarms are due to poor installation or inferior equipment. As Landmark Security only use fully trained engineers and install equipment of the highest quality our systems have one of the lowest false activation rates available. In addition to this, the Landmark engineer will give a detailed demonstration of how to use the system; he will not leave until you are 100% happy and confident on how to use the system. Q. What happens if I accidently set the alarm off? A. We will contact you immediately if you have not un-set the system. We will ask you for your password, if the correct password is given the Mobile Patrol Response Unit will be cancelled and your key holders will not be contacted. Q. What happens if there is a power cut? A. The Landmark Security control panel has a back-up battery that will operate the system in alarm condition for at least eight hours (more likely 20 hours) and when the mains power comes back on it simply recharges the battery. If the power cut is a particularly long one and the battery should start to run low, the system will advise us and we will contact the customer, or if they are not available, one of their key holders. Q. Why do I need to provide the details of 2 key holders for my monitored alarm? A. The police require at least 2 key holders. Neither of the key holders can live at the property where the alarm is installed and they must not reside together. It is also a requirement that you provide a landline telephone number for your key holders as well as a mobile number if available. Q. How do I change my key holders details? A. It s simple. Just call Landmark Security on 0845 519 2354 with your changes. Make sure to tell your key holders what to do in case they receive a call from us. You need to confirm the changes in writing. Q.
