Share the Light Advancing the State of the Art in Risk Management and Insurance Education An Enterprise Risk Management Academic Symposium Sponsored by: The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business The American Risk and Insurance Association August 21-23, 2008 Columbus, Ohio
Welcome Share the Light Advancing the State of the Art in Risk Management and Insurance Education An Enterprise Risk Management Academic Symposium Enterprise Risk Management continues to grow in importance as risk managers look for more effective ways to manage risk in today s volatile business environment. However, there is still no consensus on a definition of ERM, and application is as varied as the number of companies trying to apply it. This symposium will help us define how traditional RMI programs can begin to effectively include ERM concepts and academic tracks into the curricula. Because of your current work in enterprise risk management you have been brought together with your colleagues from RMI programs accross the country to share information and resources and to begin development of a series of case studies to enhance ERM education. This program will address (a) the current state of ERM education, (b) the tools available for integrating ERM into RMI curricula, and (c) the development of additional teaching resources (cases, texts, etc.) to encourage and facilitate the teaching of ERM at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Thank you for participating. Donald J. Rebele President and CEO The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation
