Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) What is DIA? Telx Dedicated Internet Access service, or DIA for short, combines Telx s network neutral environment with colocation and automated routing to provide a reliable dedicated Internet connection for our customers business. Telx DIA is monitored 24x7 by the Telx Command Center. Telx DIA is a blended bandwidth product providing a best of mix between several providers. Each DIA point of presence ( POP ) operates independently connecting at least two independent upstream carriers providing a highly reliable always-on connection to the Internet. Access is offered via Cat5 Ethernet or Fiber at speeds ranging from 5Mbps to 1 Gbit. Telx provides customers with IP addresses based on need or customers may provide their own. IP addresses are then routed either statically or via Border Gateway Protocol ( BGP ). Access is a high performance, multi-10gbit capable platform. Services are offered in Burstable or Fixed bandwidth configurations and come in two basic flavors DIA Standard and DIA Premium. What is the difference between DIA Standard and DIA Premium? DIA Standard is Telx s entry level internet access product and provides a single handoff over either copper or fiber. DIA Standard is designed for a customer seeking a cost effective connection for non-mission critical applications, Out of Band ( OOB ) connections into your colocation environment or backup connections to IP connectivity provided by a carrier in the Telx Meet Me Room ( MMR )

DIA Premium is a dual handoff, redundant solution aimed at mission critical applications and customers with higher bandwidth requirements. DIA Premium is offered over copper or fiber and provides customers with localized redundancy over the Telx DIA infrastructure. What is Burstable and Fixed Service? How do I know what option I should choose or what is set up on my existing service? Telx provides both Burstable and Fixed rate service. Fixed rate service allows you to utilize bandwidth up to the contracted Committed Information Rate ( CIR ). Burstable service provides you with the ability to burst beyond the CIR on a temporary basis up to the full port speed. Please make sure you specify if you would like Burstable or Fixed rate service with your Telx Sales Representative or Telx Sales Engineer. The burst type on existing service can be verified via the Telx MarketplacePortal, the product code on your invoice or by contacting your Client Service Manager. What is the Committed Information Rate? How do I change that if my bandwidth requirements change over time? The Committed Information Rate or CIR is the maximum average data rate purchased in conjunction with your DIA service. Telx guarantees bandwidth availability up to the contracted CIR. Customers needing additional bandwidth on a temporary basis may request a burstable configuration as discussed previously. I have gone above my Committed Information Rate, how is my overage (bursting) billed? Telx s DIA service is billed using an industry standard 95th percentile ( 95th P ) billing method. Bandwidth is measured (or sampled) from the Telx router and recorded in a log file every five minutes (apx 8000 measurements per month). At the end of the month, the input samples are sorted from highest to lowest and the top 5% (apx 36 hours of a 30-day billing cycle) of data are discarded. All values are rounded to the next highest number. For example, if the 95th percentile value is 11.3 Mbps the value considered is 12Mbps. The same is then done with the output samples. To arrive at the billable utilization for the month, Telx selects the higher usage measurement of either the input or output traffic flows and calculates billing based on that usage measurement. Based on this model, the top 36 hours (top 5% of 720 hours) of peak traffic is not taken into account when billed for an entire month. Bandwidth could be utilized at a higher rate for up to 65 min a day with no financial impact to the monthly contracted commit. All

overage is billed at the same per mg rate your CIR is billed. The simplified example below assumes only 100 samples are taken per month. We can see the top ten usage rankings for the month sorted from highest to lowest. All measurements above line 95 are discarded and the 95th highest usage measurement is used to calculate billing for the month. Notice the higher usage number of the inbound and outbound traffic measurement on line 95 is used to calculate the 95th P. Rank Inbound Bandwidth Measurements Outbound Bandwidth Measurements 100 25Mbps 13Mbps 99 14Mbps 11Mbps 98 13Mbps 9Mbps 97 11Mbps 7Mbps 96 8Mbps 5Mbps 95 6Mbps 4Mbps 94 5Mbps 3Mbps 93 4Mbps 1Mbps 92 2Mbps 900Kbps 91 1Mbps 950Kbps In this example the 95th P for the month would be 6Mbps. For service with a 10Mbps CIR there would be no overages charges for the month however if the CIR were 5Mpbs then there would be a 1 Mbps overage for the month shown. 6Mpbs (95th P) 5Mbps (CIR) = 1Mbps (Overage) The overage charge would then be calculated as: 1Mbps (Overage) x Per Mg Rate = Monthly Overage Charge Overage charges are billed in arrears on a separate monthly invoice noting the specific overage and dollar amount owed. For questions concerning the 95th P billing method or for billing inquiries in general, please do not hesitate to contact your Client Service Manager. www.telx.com 877.321.TELX

How many IP addresses will I get? Telx will provide IP addresses based on your need. DIA Standard includes a /30 block (4 total IP addresses, 1 usable by Customer) and DIA Premium includes a /29 block (8 total IP addresses, 3 usable by Customer) at no additional cost. Larger blocks of addresses are available for an additional fee. Telx requires the use of 3 IP addresses for DIA Standard and 5 IP addresses for DIA Premium. These addresses are used for internal routing of traffic through the Telx network. The addresses required for internal routing purposes are retained by Telx from the IP address block requested. Your Telx Sales Engineer will confirm the total number of IP addresses needed and will help you determine the appropriate IP address block for your needs. A questionnaire documenting your use of the addresses is required prior to assignment. The questionnaire is used for justification of IP address usage with the American Registry for Internet Numbers ( ARIN ). This questionnaire must be completed prior to assignment of IP Addresses process and will be delivered to you at the time of the order. Please ensure this form is completed and returned with your signed order for DIA. What equipment will I need to connect to Telx DIA? Connectivity can be as simple as a single customer provided server. Telx will provide a network drop (cross connect) and manage all routing on our network as a part of your DIA service. You could also connect a switch and connect multiple computers to that switch and all your connected equipment would use the Telx router as their Internet Gateway. Layer 3 routing can be accomplished by connecting a router in your environment. Does Telx DIA offer firewall security or DDOS mitigation? Telx leaves the security of customer devices and traffic up to the customer. Telx understands the necessities of security and if a security issue or attack arises we will help customers mitigate risk on a case by case basis. Please keep in mind our ability to impact attacks may be limited. Does Telx DIA offer redundant circuits? Yes, Telx does offer redundant connections through our DIA Premium product. We can provide redundancy through VRRP, HSRP or BGP. Not all redundancy protocols are available at all DIA facilities, please ask your Sales Representative or Sales Engineer if you have questions about which redundancy offerings are available. Telx does not offer the ability to load Balance between primary and redundant hand offs. All redundency is configured as fail over only.

I want to do my own routing. Will Telx provide a BGP feed? As long as you have a publicly assigned Autonomous System Number ( ASN ) Telx will establish BGP sessions with your layer 3 router and provide a full or partial BGP table. We will also accept and propagate any route announcements made by your router. Where can I check my utilization? You can access the Telx MarketplacePortal to check your utilization along with many other features including: Interface management/utilization Utilization and Billing History Reverse DNS setup for your IP addresses Ping and Trace route diagnostic reporting Host monitoring setup Does Telx offer a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with DIA service? Yes. DIA service carries an uptime guarantee designed around the specifics of the DIA Standard and DIA Premium offerings. Or goal is to provide 100% uptime in all situations but we understand that this is not always possible. As your data center and connectivity partner we take our relationship seriously and as such, share the financial burden with you, our customer, in an outage situation. A detailed description of the Telx Service Availability Metric ( SAM ) associated with DIA can be readily obtained from your Telx Sales Representative or online at https://intranet.telx.com/web/guest/library/. Is Telx interconnecting the facilities with their own backbone? No. Each Telx DIA point of presence is independent. Telx provides excellent performance and reliability by handing traffic off locally to upstream transit and peering networks. www.telx.com 877.321.TELX
