Autodesk Product Manager Installing and Conducting a Software Audit The Autodesk Product Manager (APM) utility searches computers on a network for installed Autodesk products. APM is installed separately from the main Autodesk product. To install APM, see To install APM from the Installation wizard below. Autodesk Product Manager reports the following: Name of the computer searched Name and version or release number of the Autodesk product Location of the Autodesk product Serial number and language of the Autodesk product Service Pack name Personalization information (user, company, and dealer name or dealer telephone number) How the product was installed (Stand-Alone, Network, Network client, Network Shared (Thin Client) Date and time of search Status of search To install APM from the Installation wizard 1. In the AutoCAD Installation wizard, click Install Tools and Utilities. 2. On the Select the Products to Install page, select Autodesk CAD Manager Tools, and click Next.
3. Review the Autodesk software license agreement for your country or region. You must accept this agreement to proceed with the installation. Choose your country or region, click I Accept, and then click Next. 4. On the Review - Configure - Install page, review your product selection and the current settings. If you do not want to make any changes, click Install. If you want to change the installation location (the only option available) click the Configure button. 5. On the Select the Installation Location page, accept the default installation path (C:\Program Files\Autodesk Network License Manager\) or specify a different path. If you enter a path that does not exist, a new folder is created using the name and location you provide. Click Next. 6. On the Configuration Complete page, click Configuration Complete to return to the confirmation page. 7. On the Review - Configure - Install page, click Install. 8. When the Installation Complete page displays, click Finish. Open APM and Conduct a Software Audit (Windows XP or Vista) Start menu > All Programs > Autodesk CAD Manager Tools > Autodesk Product Manager To successfully query systems: Target systems must be online Target systems must have remote registry access enabled User running the query must have rights to access the target systems registry To create and save a search definition 1. Click File menu > New Search. 2. In the Product Search Definition dialog box, enter a name for the search definition, or use the default name.
3. Under Products to Locate, select the product group you want to search for, or select All Products. To display a list of all products in a group, click the plus sign to the left of the group name. 4. Under Computers to Search, select networks, domains, or individual computers in the Available Network Computers list, and click the Add to Search button to add them to the Computers Added to Search list. 5. To select more than one item in either list, hold down the CTRL key while you select items. To select consecutive items, hold down the SHIFT key and select the first and last items. 6. To remove a network, domain, or computer from the Computers Added to Search list, select one or more items to remove, and click the Remove from Search button. 7. To add a computer by name, right-click in the Computers Added to Search list. Click Enter Computer Name. Enter the name of the computer in the new box in the list and press ENTER. 8. Click OK to save the search definition.
Saving and Outputting an Audit Report Reports can be saved and output to several different formats - Microsoft Excel (.xls), Microsoft Access (.mdb), or Comma Delimited Text (.csv). To export the results from the Report View 1. Click File > Export Report. 2. In the Export Report dialog box, in Save In, specify a location for the exported report file. 3. In File Name, enter a filename for the report file, or use the default name that is displayed. 4. In the Save As Type, select a file format. 5. Click Save to export the file. If you do not select a file format, the file is saved with the file extension.xls for use in Microsoft Excel.
