If you have not already purchased the PEP Program, contact the PEP Sales offices listed on the printed materials accompanying the DVD - or email sales@p-e-p.org. Introduction Individual customers have 15 days to activate their license after installing the PEP DVD. They can do this either by phone or by email. This activates a Single User, Single Computer License (SUSC License), which enables you to use the PEP DVD on a single computer for the lifetime of the license. WARNING : You will not be able to use the PEP Archive 1 software after 15 days if you do not follow this license activation process. After 15 days, only the "License the PEP Archive" software will run, which is used to license the disc according to the process described below. Preliminary steps to activate your license Initially you follow the same procedure whether you intend to license by email or telephone. You need to perform these steps on the computer where you are planning to run the PEP Archive 1 DVD. 1. Locate the file License the PEP Archive which is located off of your PROGRAMS (or ALL PROGRAMS) menu under the PEP Archive program. NOTE: THE LICENSING FILE CANNOT BE LOCATED WHEN THE PEP ARCHIVE ACTUAL PROGRAM IS OPEN FOR USE. The License file is a separate file off your Programs menu. This runs a program called "Folio Rights Browser", in which you can activate the license you have purchased. 2. Run the license activation program by clicking the "License the PEP Archive" option.
The Folio Rights Browser window should appear like this: Right-click on the option "Single-User". If you do not have a Right Click on your mouse, then highlight the word "Single-User", then open the menu under Folio Rights Browser and click LICENSE - you will get two options. Click on the option "Receive Telephone Update". That will take you to the Introduction Screen below. Furthermore, before you license the PEP DVD, you should have ready your name and the address to which you asked PEP to send the disc as well as your PEP Subscription ID (SID). (Note: this is very helpful, but not required as we can verify you in the database if you provide other order information). Licensing the PEP DVD by phone 1. Call the PEP Registration Centre: click here for details of phone numbers and times to call When you get the operator, the operator will confirm your choice of license from the above dialog. 2. Press the "Next" button, which will bring you to a dialog like this one (but with a different "Challenge Number"):
3. Read the PEP operator the Challenge Number 4. Press "Next" again to bring up the dialog below: 5. The operator will then read you back a "Response Number", which you can enter into the dialog..
The Receive Response Dialog as it looks after you enter in a response code: As you type in letters, the software will display the complete "phonetic" alphabet, so that you can read this back to the operator for final confirmation. 6. Finally, after the number has been confirmed, you must press "Next" to actually perform the license update. This is very important. If you press "Cancel", your license will not be updated. Please click "Finish" in order to complete the license process. If you receive an error in this step, it could be because you have entered the response code incorrectly on the previous screen. Use the Back button to recheck it. 7. Start the PEP application to confirm the license update. The operator will ask you to confirm the successful license update Licensing the PEP DVD by email 1. Create an e-mail message using the PEP license activation address provided on the printed material with your DVD.
VERY IMPORTANT : Place your customer # in the subject line. This is all that should be in the subject line. 2. Press the "Next" button, which will bring you to a dialog like this one (but with a different "Challenge Number") 3. Copy the challenge number and paste it into the body (text) of the e-mail message. (Or carefully type it into the body of the message.) 4. Now, send the message to the PEP e-mail registration address.
5. Press 'Next' again to show the dialog below: This is where you MUST leave the application running until you receive return mail from PEP. You should expect a return response within 24 hours. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER DO NOT CLOSE this LICENSE REGISTRATION application or dialog If you do, you will need to repeat this entire process, as the challenge code you sent (and the required response code) are DIFFERENT EACH TIME the program is run. You do not need to stay connected to your email provider. Simply check your e-mail periodically to see if PEP has sent the response code yet. Do not send another message. 6. When you receive your response email from PEP, you can copy the response number you receive from the body of the message and paste it into the dialog. If you accidentally turn off your computer or close the application before you receive the response code, you will need to start the registration process again. The Receive Response Dialog as it looks after you enter in a response code: 7. After you have entered the number, you must press "Next" to actually perform the license update. This is very important. If you press "Cancel", your license will not be updated.
8. Please click "Finish" in order to complete the license process. If you receive an error in this step, it could be because you have entered the response code incorrectly on the previous screen. Use the Back button to recheck it. If you have followed this process by e-mail and you receive an error, consider whether you closed the application or shut down the machine before PEP responded to your challenge code. If you did, you will need to begin the registration process again. 9. Start the PEP application to confirm the license update. Deciding whether to activate by phone or email Email: The email method is convenient and avoids a phone call to the PEP Registration Centre but requires you to leave your computer running with the License Program running until you hear back from PEP (in this mode you can still use your computer to run other programs). This could take 24 hours - if you inadvertently close the license activation dialog or shut down your computer before the procedure is complete you will have to start all over again (including re-requesting the license activation by email). If this method presents a problem, use the telephone activation option. Phone: The phone method requires calling during customer service hours. It allows you to speak with, and be guided by, a customer service agent. However, there are alphanumeric activation codes that must be read over the phone and keyed in by both the service representative, and the customer. These keys are more easily exchanged by email; so providing you understand the caveats to using email, that could be the best way to license.
