What is a Service Pack? A service pack consists of a large number of software updates and enhancements rolled in to one installation package. This booklet details the steps to install GlassMatix Service Pack 2 on your GlassMatix system using the enclosed disc. 7 What is in Service Pack 2? This service pack contains two major enhancements: Thatcham LCV Paint Data Logic Thatcham Integrated Methods functionality In addition, a number of maintenance items released since Service Pack 1 are also included. Further details of the major enhancements mentioned above can be found in the following pages and also within GlassMatix via the Help & News Update areas. Thatcham LCV Paint Data Logic The new logic will include refinish time and paint material cost allowances for refinishing the inner surface areas of replaced panels where required and also for refinish blends were surface paint damage is incurred. The new logic will apply initially to the Ford Transit Van 2006 on model, but will subsequently be used as more LCVs are progressively added to the GlassMatix database over the coming months. Other changes also introduced are; additional blend operations added for cars and LCVs, additional refinish repair operations added for earlier LCVs and automatic corrosion protection operations for repaired panels. 7

Thatcham Integrated Methods Since Thatcham introduced the new online version of escribe, GlassMatix has been unable to seamlessly integrate with Thatcham Repair Methods. After installing this Service Pack, users will be able to access Thatcham Repair Methods via the internet from within the GlassMatix application. A valid Thatcham escribe licence is required users will need to enter their unique Thatcham Customer Reference Number & Postal Code in to GlassMatix to obtain access to the Thatcham Integrated Methods web service (see further instructions below). - Entering Thatcham credentials in to GlassMatix Open GlassMatix, click Tools (at the top of the GlassMatix window) and select Options from the drop-down menu; the User Preferences window will be opened. Once Service Pack 2 has been installed there will be a new section at the bottom called Thatcham Credentials where users can enter their Thatcham unique reference number (typically an 8-digit alphanumeric code) and postal code to be used to access Thatcham Integrated Methods and click Save. 8

Note: if you subscribe to Thatcham escribe but do not know your Thatcham unique reference number or which postal code should be entered; or do not have a live subscription to Thatcham escribe please contact Thatcham Customer Services on Accessing Thatcham Integrated Methods via GlassMatix The previous escribe button on the GlassMatix toolbar has been replaced with a revised Thatcham icon relating to Thatcham Integrated Methods. When clicked, GlassMatix will attempt to connect to Thatcham s servers (internet connection required) and pass your credentials to Thatcham for authentication. The following message will be received if this authentication is not successful:- You should check the credentials you have entered in to GlassMatix. If you think you have entered them correctly and should have access to Thatcham Integrated Methods, please contact Thatcham as outlined above to ensure you have a valid licence and correct credentials. 9

If the connection and authentication is successful, the following Thatcham Methods window will be displayed. The contents of this window may vary depending on what information is available for the selected vehicle. Typically, the following Thatcham documentation will be available for selection:- Technical Profile = model specification information, library images & manufacturers methods (approx. 10 pages). Methods = specific model information & Thatcham repair methods. The actual methods and number of pages returned depends upon the number of estimated items and/or the point the methods are requested (see more information on page 11). Methods Standard = specific model information & generic Thatcham Methods content (approx. 40 pages). General Technical = various generic Thatcham bulletins. 10

Once the required option is selected and OK is clicked, the default internet browser is opened and the Thatcham Research information pack is displayed this can then be printed or saved in PDF format. - Generating repair specific Methods The Methods option (as highlighted on the previous page) is likely to be the most commonly used as this generates documentation explicitly relating to the vehicle & items (repair lines) selected within a GlassMatix estimate. The content of the Methods information pack will vary dependant on the number of repair lines entered on the GlassMatix estimate and from which screen the user attempts to access Thatcham Integrated Methods (i.e. clicks the Thatcham Icon). Examples as follows Position in GlassMatix when Thatcham icon clicked Main Estimates view with specific estimate selected (highlighted) Within specific estimate / estimate opened Within specific estimate / estimate opened AND with a specific repair line selected (highlighted) Content of Methods information pack Generic Thatcham methods, generic model information and detailed methods for every area of the vehicle Detailed methods relating to the areas as per the estimated repair lines Detailed methods relating to the area(s) as selected (highlighted) in the repair lines page Note: the number of pages, file size & amount of time required to generate, display, save or print any of the Thatcham information packs will depend on the model, amount of estimated items and speed of the internet connection in use. 11
