Challenges The UK Public Sector is facing hugely complex, inter-departmental challenges We need to deliver a 21 st century infrastructure to solve these challenges and seize opportunities to work more efficiently, flexibly, and responsively Hugely challenging environment in UK 2
Where were [are] we? Austerity no change on the horizon Stuck in large contracts 80% of Central Gov reducing ICT controlled by 6 companies waste and project failure, and stimulating economic High system and running costs growth Difficult to iterate / reuse delivering strengthened better public governance services for less cost Lack of real competition Huge bill 16 billion p.a. using ICT to enable and deliver change creating a common ICT infrastructure 3 There are a number of reasons why Cloud is appealing and why G Cloud in particular came about Cuts in spending & budgets Outsourced all of our experience, so totally reliant on large companies The value being achieved through large contracts Missing out on the skills and offerings from a huge section of the IT landscape Multiple organisations undertaking the same activities wasted resource Not focusing on the core business Competition lacking and not being treated as a single customer
