3 Service Overview Capgemini is one of the leaders in the provision of Big Data exploitation and Analytics and has a number of service offerings available on G-Cloud as illustrated below, one of which is Healthcare Analytics. This diagram is for illustration only and does not represent any obligation or responsibility of Capgemini. Capgemini s Insights & Data global practice has a history in delivering data and intelligence related services to the NHS, and wider UK public health bodies. Our team has a good understanding of the UK health landscape, considerations and constraints. Our core capabilities within the healthcare domain can be broadly categorised as follows: Data Management Master Data Management Managing disparate source systems; Data Masking & Anonymisation As used extensively in Healthcare and Banking sectors; Data Virtualisation Enabling cross data source views of data. Data Strategy and Archiving. Analytics BI Dashboarding; Page 3

4 Data Quality Analysis; Big Data & Data Science. Our Analytics service is cloud enabled and can cover a number of key activities across a transformational agenda, starting with data strategy and consultancy, through to analytics software platform builds (software to be provided separately), deployment, training and on-going support. We possess a good understanding of national (e.g. SUS, HES, SLAM) and local datasets, having worked with them across numerous programmes. Our team understands the core requirements of the NHS; we re well versed in the common models and requirements, such as risk stratification, contract and performance monitoring and finance, as well as GP level analytics and monitoring (a full list of specialisms can be provided upon request). We pride ourselves on our ability to enable such a diverse range of programmes, as well as the associated periphery services to facilitate this transformation. The services may consist of: Data migration and cleansing; Security and information governance; For public-sector clients such as the NHS our risk management and accreditation process follow HMG Information Assurance Standards 1 and 2. Medical records are typically assessed at impact level 3. We can provide services using our internal resources and capabilities. Capgemini s Business Analytics Team is able to offer three additional specific offerings to support health services: 1) Healthcare strategy system modelling can be a data driven modelling process that may allow the organisation to map costs and activity and understand the impact of the strategic intent; 2) Healthcare Service Redesign Modelling to assist health services when they may be subject to redesign to improve one or more of clinical quality, operational effectiveness and a patient experience; 3) Emergency Services Capacity Modelling to assist emergency service departments who may face performance and capacity challenges due to variability of demand and operating times. Healthcare strategy modelling can support an engagement of key stakeholders in health services to contribute to developing one or more of a strategic plan, identification of unique strategic challenges faced, identification of initiatives and measures that can demonstrate strategy delivery and scenario and sensitivity modelling of health services. Healthcare service redesign modelling can provide evidence of impact of redesign on providers, specifically ambulance services and acute trusts. A scenario modelling approach can allow investigation of the impact of a number of relevant delivery options in the NHS. Page 4

5 Emergency services capacity modelling can deliver an analysis of the working system, and factors that influence capacity and performance, as well as an analytical model that may enable an investigation of the impact of factors affecting performance and assesses capacity requirements. Our Healthcare Analytics service provides Business Analysis, Design / Consultation and Service Management in support of the design and implementation of Cloud based services. Business Need Given the fundamental paradigm shift in the NHS in 2012/3, as well as an invigorated focus on big data and analytics across all sectors and clients, harnessing the incredible power held within our information is of paramount importance to enable the future sustainability, viability and performance of the UK public health sector. The need for analytics is broad with the NHS, DoH and ALBs. Our services are appropriate for localised analysis, e.g. at CCG, CSU level, as well as for major national programmes; we conducted several projects around the SUS data set for numerous national clients and programmes, for example. Traditional analytics is evolving. Healthcare providers and commissioners alike need to confirm that they are harnessing predictive modelling and analysis to enable the good service is given to patients, and the inherent risk of delivering healthcare services to 60m+ patients is limited. All of this must be real time. In terms of the three specific Business Analytics offerings, Healthcare strategy system modelling can address one or more of the following typical issues: Need for strategic scenario modelling and risk assessment to support the organisation s strategic plan; Lack of development of the strategic direction on change programmes at Strategic Healthcare Authority level. Healthcare Service Redesign Modelling can be used to address one or more of the following issues: Lack of understanding how change in service delivery can impact across the health system; Lack of understanding of the breakdown of costs for commissioners and providers; Lack of awareness of a more effective delivery option; cost and service quality; Uncertainty on the factors that may be considered in the commissioning the new service. Emergency Services Capacity Modelling can address one or more of the following typical issues: Lack of understanding how changes in service demand, resources available and operational behaviours can impact across the system; Page 5

6 Lack of understanding of the performance at different geographical levels that can be used to direct where and how to focus performance improvement efforts; Uncertainty on the factors that may be considered when allocating resources and commissioning services. Our Approach Capgemini s delivery methodology and service approach will be defined by the scope of the engagement and composition of services procured. As standard, we leverage a wide array of industrialised techniques to provide a scalable and robust backbone to our consulting services. We can adopt a variety of delivery methods, release schedules and engagement models. For a majority of projects, we leverage our UPM methodology. The Unified Project Management method (UPM) is an essential contribution in making the difference between project success and project failure. It is therefore fundamental to the attainment of consistent client satisfaction. This approach to Project Management results from our experience in managing successful projects. Reflecting volatile business and technical environments, it recognises the complexity of most contemporary projects, and the business need for those projects to be run in a time-critical and cost-sensitive manner. UPM is compliant with CMMI requirements version 1.3 up to level 3 (as defined by the Software Engineering Institute) and is also aligned with the 4th edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) from the Project Management Institute. All our engagement managers / project managers are required to undergo training and certification in using UPM. Healthcare strategy system modelling, Healthcare Service Redesign Modelling and Emergency Services Capacity Modelling can be delivered using the Business Analytics approach through a combination of one or more of six sequential steps with iterative feedback loops based on domain specific processes and methods. These can be enhanced by good practices and lessons learned from previous projects. The six stages are Business Understanding; Data Understanding; Data preparation; Analytical Modelling; Evaluation (Model Testing & Interpretation) and Deployment. Service Management This service can be delivered as a defined project or on a day rate basis. 7 Pricing This service is priced in accordance with the SFIA Rate Card attached. Capgemini can also provide offshore resources at reduced rates where appropriate.
