Admission Announcement Integrated BBA-MBA Degree Programme O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) The vision of JGU is to promote global courses, global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global interaction through a global faculty. JGU is situated on a 80-acre state-ofthe-art residential campus in the National Capital Region of Delhi. JGU maintains a 1:15 faculty-student ratio and appoints faculty members with outstanding academic qualifications and experience from different parts of the world. JGU has established five schools: Jindal Global Law School, Jindal Global Business School, Jindal School of International Affairs, Jindal School of Government and Public Policy and Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities. Jindal Global Business School The Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) began in 2010. The vision of JGBS is to impart global business education to uniquely equip students, managers and professionals with necessary knowledge, acumen and skills so as to enable them to effectively tackle the challenges faced by transnational businesses. JGBS offers (1) multidisciplinary education; (2) fosters academic excellence through industry partnerships and global collaborations; (3) JGBS faculty undertake research on current issues in the areas of: Applied Finance, Consumer Behaviour Globalization, Leadership, Supply Chain, Quantitative Methods. JGBS has international collaborations for providing global business education with the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas (USA), Carleton University, University of New Brunswick (Canada), Goethe University and European Business School (Germany).
About the Programme The objective of the Integrated BBA-MBA 5-year Degree programme is to enable students embark on a management career, after completing 10+2 level examination. The programme provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the business management fundamentals and the opportunity to pursue specialization in chosen areas of management. The design and delivery of this integrated program is innovative and unique. It will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete successfully for challenging positions in industry, government, non-profit organizations and civil services. This programme will create excellent managers and instill the spirit of entrepreneurship, which would enable students to evolve into leaders and wealth creators in the years to come. The programme at JGBS is rigorous and is designed to prepare students with a global management perspective through a unique pedagogy of learning and interaction among peers. Activities like live projects, field assignments and simulation games form part of the programme. Pedagogy Education at JGBS transcends the boundary of the four walls of a classroom. The aim is to let the unique strength of each individual flourish. Emphasis is on: (1) learning through discovering, rather than from classroom instruction; (2) problem-solving, instead of rote-learning; and (3) critical thinking, as opposed to acquiring information gathering. This is the essence of being one s own teacher, which is emphasized. Given this outlook, extra-curricular activities such as debates, dramas, sports etc. are integral part of student life. Academic Overview The integrated BBA-MBA 5-year degree programme requires completion of 145 credits involving course work, internships, and projects. There is no provision of leaving after three years with a BBA degree. There are two semesters every year, and internships undertaken after the second- and third-year of study. Foreign Degree/Study Option Students may opt for transfer, in their 5th year, to international partner institutions- in the US, Germany, Canada, etc.- for an additional degree (MBA/MS). The advantages of added international degree are: (1) degree from a premium global instiute; and (2) optional work permit upon sucessful completion. The transfer is subject to the entry requirements of the partnering institutions. Also, students may pursue one semester exchange at these locations. Distinctive Features Strong Foundation: Courses in the first two years that include maths, history, fine arts, literature, statistics, written communications, philosophy, negotiation, etc. that builds a broad foundation as well as critical skills. Business Concentrations: Business courses in the second and third years and electives in the fourth year allowing students to concentrate in their area of choice, such as marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, sales & marketing, Operations and supply chain and human capital management. Foreign Languages: Students have the opportunity to learn, over a four-year period, a non-english foreign language including Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish and French. Internships: Students undertake a social internship with an NGO after their second year and a business internship after their third year to get a real-world interaction while pursuing studies. There is also an opportunity to undertake a team consultancy project in their fifth year. Multidisciplinary: Students who choose to stay at JGU for the fifth year get to take relevant courses from our Law School, School of Government & Public Policy and the School of International Affairs, building a super specialty to their education. World Class Faculty JGU faculty, the core assest of the institution, have degrees from globally reputed universities, and are pursuing research in critical areas and bring that expertise to the class room. They are active as consultants to governments and corporations. Career Development The summer internships prepare the student for the final placement. Our Career Development office helps students prepare for jobs through interview skill building, counseling, and facilitating company visits for recruitment. Over the years JGBS has consistently placed all students for summer internships in organizations such as E&Y, SMS-Siemag, KPMG, UB Group, IOCL, Pepsico, Makemytrip, Reliance retail, FRS Global etc. Students have been finally placed in leading firms such as: Deloitte Consulting, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, JSPL, Sodexo, Luxottica Group. Student Clubs and Activities and have student members and coordinators. They organize various events like fests, sporting events, talks, lectures and management games. Also they organize events to promote intra- batch and inter- university camaraderie like Freshers party, cultural nights and inter- batch sports. The clubs and societies of other schools of the university are also open to all students. This is another avenue for students to utilize their varied talents. Students also take part in various fests and events organized by other B- schools and universities. The Business school has a unique initiative called the mentormentee programme. This programme is aimed at promoting close relationship and bonding between the faculty and students where a faculty member is a mentor to a number of students as mentees. A mentor- mentee week was celebrated in August, 2014 when mentors and mentees played games together, watched a movie and went out for a bite. In short, JGBS students have a lot of options for extra-curricular activities to showcase their talent and have fun too. They have ample opportunity for an all-round development. The Business school has a vibrant and lively extracurricular life. The students are engaged in various activities, sports and games. There are various clubs in the Business School which engage students not only in fun, but also in various functions of management. Eligibility and Selection Criteria Minimum of 60% aggregate marks (all subject) in 10+2 examination or equivalent. Scholarships and Fellowships Jindal Global Business School offers limited number merit-based and domicile-based scholarships to the brightest students of the batch. In addition, JGBS grants several fellowships for subsidizing education. The fellowships are granted in exchange of work commitments, and merit. Haryana Domicile Scholarship Meritorious students with valid proof of Haryana domicile, are eligible for a full or partial fee concession as per the Haryana Government Universities Act. The total number of scholarships, under this category, is restricted to 10 percent of the batch strength. Merit-Based Scholarships The Merit-based scholarships include Naveen Jindal Young Global Leaders Scholarship and Shallu Jindal Outstanding Women Scholarship. These scholarships are granted to students with high levels of academic and extra-curricular accomplishments. Fellowships The list of fellowships include - O.P.
