1 Property Department Andrew Childs, Broker Andrew joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 2003 as a member of the Excess Liability department. He has worked with the Property department since 2010 placing facultative reinsurance and assisting on direct property insurance accounts. Andrew is a graduate of Boston College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He is a licensed property/casualty broker in Massachusetts. Bette Logan, Assistant Secretary, Claims Bette Logan joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1978 upon graduation from Hesser Business College. She started her career in what was then the claims department. Since 1984, she has assisted in the negotiating and broking of insurance and reinsurance placements as part of the Property Department. 2 Special Risks Department Derek Horton, Vice President Derek Horton joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1982 and is involved in all aspects of the Special Risks Department with particular expertise in the placing of management liability (D&O), with an emphasis on D&O placements for publicly traded companies. In addition Derek is very much involved in placing other specialty insurance lines, including but not limited to, professional (E&O), employment practices, media liability, fiduciary liability, crime/fidelity, kidnap & ransom, excess workers compensation, surety bonds, environmental, aviation and aircraft products liability insurance. He was elected Vice President in Cynthia Lee, Assistant Vice President Cindy Lee brings ten years experience in the insurance industry to Thomas E. Sears, Inc. She is an Assistant Vice President in the Special Risks Department focusing on building and managing the unique type of risk placements that we are known for in the industry. Her range of product placements consist of Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, sophisticated Errors and Omissions Liability and Aircraft/Hull Liability Policies. Cindy Lee is a graduate of Boston College, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. She is a licensed Property/Casualty Broker in Massachusetts. Heidi Streeter, Assistant Vice President Heidi Streeter as Assistant Vice President is responsible for marketing, placement and servicing of Professional Liability and Management Liability products for both public and private corporations as well as non-profit organizations. Heidi s experience is in executive risk evaluation and the design of complex programs protecting executive liabilities. Heidi has served in several senior positions within the industry including the position of Senior Vice President with Marsh, Inc., where she assumed a variety of different roles including FINPRO Practice Leader and Technology Errors & Omissions Practice Leader. Heidi has handled complex Professional Liability and Directors and Officers Liability claims while working as a Claims Examiner both with American International Group and Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Heidi has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law. Heidi is admitted to the Bar in Massachusetts. 3 Boston International Reinsurance Managers, Inc. Francis P. Black, Jr., CPCU, Vice President Fran Black joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1984 with a background in insurance and reinsurance underwriting. During his tenure with the Property Department he has produced and marketed both direct insurance accounts and facultative reinsurance. He was instrumental in the 1998 start up of the firm s property facultative reinsurance underwriting subsidiary, Boston International Reinsurance Managers, Inc., and has managed BIRM s underwriting and claims operations since He continues to be involved in certain insurance broking activities. In addition to the CPCU, he holds the designations of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe). 4 Excess Liability Department Rita Bennett, Assistant Vice President Rita Bennett joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1980 upon graduation from Boston Business School. She assists in all aspects of the Excess Liability Department working on direct excess as well as facultative casualty reinsurance. Rita was elected Assistant Secretary in 1988, has completed several courses under the Insurance Institute program, and is currently a candidate for the CPCU designation. 5 Treaty Department Joan Martino, Vice President Joan Martino joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1992 after 18 years experience with E. H. Walker, Ltd., where she was involved in all areas of treaty marketing, servicing, accounting and claims handling. She currently works in the Treaty Reinsurance Department and in addition to negotiating business with both domestic and international markets she also develops and implements a variety of the department s systems. Joan was elected Assistant Vice President in 2009 and has successfully completed Insurance Institute courses and attended seminars in various reinsurance and computer operations functions. Burke, President, U.S. RE Insurance Agency, Corporation George Burke has his Bachelor of Science degree from Merrimack College and began his insurance career as an underwriter with the Home Insurance Company. After a number of years underwriting and brokering for companies such as Hartford and CIGNA, George joined U.S. RE Insurance in 1984 and was elected president in U.S. RE Insurance Agency, Corporation Thomas E.
