4 The Partnership Challenge: Chapters have members who are involved or participate with CPCU Society interest groups but often do not see the possibilities available from partnering directly with the Society interest group committees. Benefits of Partnership for Both Chapters and Interest Groups: Cutting-edge topics of specific concern to segments of our respective membership Knowledgeable speakers who can give lectures, make presentations, run workshops, or participate on panels Experienced professionals who can offer training, both basic and advanced Increased visibility for the chapter and interest groups with specific industry segments and other professional organizations Membership enhancement that expands the benefits of chapter, interest group, and Society membership, including Circle of Excellence (COE) recognition Chapter and Interest Group Operations Track
5 The Society has fourteen interest groups, each with a national committee: Agent & Broker the professional producer community Claims loss adjusting, investigations, salvage, subrogation; both company and independent Coverage, Litigators, Educators and Witnesses (CLEW) advisors, attorneys, and the legal system Excess/Surplus/Specialty Lines (ESSL) the excess/umbrella, nonadmitted, and specialty areas Information Technology operations, systems, and software, including RMIS from a technical perspective International Insurance (3iG) global or multinational programs and the non-u.s. market Leadership & Managerial Excellence professional and career development Loss Control the engineering professionals; safety, property, industrial, construction, energy, and so forth Personal Lines devoted to individual, VIP, and family coverages Professional Experience Resource Group a resource for all CPCUs, offering mentoring, coaching, and networking Reinsurance reinsurance underwriters and intermediaries, including captives, alternative risk, pools, and so forth Regulatory & Legislative (Regs & Legs) professionals involved with government, industry, and regulatory affairs Risk Management professional risk managers, risk management consultants operational and enterprise Underwriting commercial underwriting and underwriting support; all lines, but mostly general
6 The CPCU Society depends on the interest group committees to: Publish articles or sponsor research papers Conduct webinars Conduct or sponsor symposia, workshops, or seminars at the Leadership Summit, the Annual Meeting, and around the country Promote CPCU and interest groups within the Society and to the general industry Work with other industry associations or professional organizations that have a common link with the interest group Build interest group membership via CPCU members making a primary interest group choice at membership renewal
7 Chapters can take advantage of interest group resources by: Identifying interest groups that are highly relevant to or greatly represented within the chapter (markets, exposures, industries, and the number of members who have chosen a primary interest group) Appointing an interest group liaison who can communicate generally with chapter members affiliated with certain primary interest groups Appointing interest group champions within the chapter who can lead and obtain support from specific primary interest group members Downloading data on chapter interest group members and maintaining a regular dialogue with the national interest group committee
