1 Sguardi Altrove International Film Festival 22 nd Edition Milano 21st 28th March 2015 RULES AND REGULATIONS The 22 nd edition of Sguardi Altrove International Women s Film Festival will be held in Milan (Italy) from the 21 st to the 28 th of March The Festival s aim is to encourage, through cinematographic art and expression, a reflection on relevant issues for women related to their specific cultural, political and social context. The Festival offer itself as a place for intercultural dialogue and dialectical comparison between different cinematographies as well as an opportunity to promote distribution of films that are unlikely to have access to commercial venues. 2. Three are the Festival official Awards for competitive sections: Nuovi Sguardi Award, for International feature length fiction films; Le Donne Raccontano, for International documentaries; Sguardi (S)confinati, for International short films. The festival also includes non-competitive sections: Sguardi Incrociati (italian section feature films, short films and documentaries directed by men or women); Digidanza (international section dedicated to video dancing films directed by men or women); Human Rights, Now (international section dedicated to documentaries, directed by men or women dealing with human rights violations in time of peace or related to states of war and other conflicts, or focusing on particular countries or geographical and political areas; a Focus on recent production of Australian cinema; a special section inspired to Expo Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.

2 3. There is no charge for submitting films to the Festival. 4. Competitive sections are open only to films made by female directors in the 24 months preceding the festival. Awards will be assigned by juries consisting of a minimum of three members drawn from the film or culture industries. 5. Non-competitive sections are open to both male and female directors. 6. The festival won t cover rental fees for the movies chosen in the international competition. 7. The jury will grant the following Awards: First Award Nuovi Sguardi: (Two thousand five hundred) Eur Second Award Le donne raccontano : (One thousand five hundred) Eur Third Award Sguardi Sconfinati: (One thousand) Eur In the credits of the awarded works must appear the caption Awarded in Sguardi Altrove Film Festival 2015 and the festival s logo, provided by the Festival s office. 8. Preview copies (DVD or links to download) must be sent to the Festival' s office by 30 November 2014, after having filled the online entry form at The organizers do not cover the transport costs of preview copies submitted for selection. 3 Italy 7. Preview copies will not be returned and will be kept in the Festival s archive. 8. The selection committee will inform applicants of its decision no later than 28 February The festival Selection Committees are responsible for the selection of films. Works invited to participate in the 2015 festival will be shown in the section festival programmers believe most appropriate. The final version of the programme is approved by the Festival Director. 10. Selected films are screened in the following formats: DCP, 35mm, Bluray, Digibeta, file mov. DCP: The festival uses a server NC 1200C. Accepted file system are EXT2, EXT3 and NTSF. The hard disk must be properly packaged to prevent damage during shipment. In case of encrypted DCPs, the KDM must be valid from the day the film reaches the festival to the day after the end of the festival. File: the festival accepts files in mov h264 format [audio AAC-AC3- mpeg audio; maximum bitrate b/s]. 11. A backup copy is required for each screening copy. 12. Films not in Italian must be subtitled in English. If the screening copy is not identical to the one sent for selection, a new file or DVD copy must be provided for subtitling purposes. 13. The following material is required for selected films: A short synopsis of the film Complete dialogue list in English One photo of the film director and at least three stills from the film (300 dpi) Full film credits Director s biography and filmography List of festivals to which the film took part and awards

4 Any promotional material 14. The Festival covers transport costs for selected films (only for those transported by the official festival courier). Film copies will be returned within two weeks after the end of the festival. If the film is being sent to another festival, the latter is expected to cover shipment costs (for international shipments we ask to write on the pack the words "For cultural use"). 15. The organizers are responsible for screening copies from the day of their arrival in Milan to the day they are returned. In the event of damage, the Festival will reimburse only the value of the copy. 16. Participants agree to give the Festival copyright for photos and excerpts of their film (for a maximum of 3 min.) for release to the media (press and TV) and Internet for promotional purposes. 17. Completion of the online entry form indicates the applicant s consent to the above rules and regulations. 18. Projection rights and musical rights are under the author s responsibilities; submission in the call involves author s cultural right concession for non profit projections. Registration to the festival implies the authorization of the movie s projection during the event. For future possible use, the author will be contacted. Furthermore, the acceptance of the following regulations implies the person who register the work, to be the one responsible to the royalties of this work. Signing up the attendee licenses to Associazione Sguardi Altrove his work to be stored, if selected for the Sguardi Altrove Film Festival, in his archive and / or in the Milano Film Network's archive - composed of all the corporations which organize cinematographic contests and festivals Milan - and agrees the total access to those archives, in order to view works in low definition with the adoption of anti-piracy measures, to movie and audiovisual sector's experts previously authorized by Associazione Sguardi Altrove and / or the MFN (for only one time for each).
