ORGANIZATION The Filmic and Cultural Association non profit "LABORATORIO DEI SOGNI", organizes the 6th edition of the "KALAT NISSA FILM FESTIVAL" of CALTANISSETTA The Contest is addressed to Italian and foreign directors and filmmakers, to schools, associations and companies that have produced short films. 2. OBJECTIVES In order to enhance and promote short film as a form of expression particularly effective and in order to develop the artistic languages of new media to meet the needs of cultural growth of young directors the festival follows the logic of giving the greatest visibility to short films that will come. A jury will select them for various events and screenings. Exhibitions, meetings with people in the world of cinema and other events will frame the event 3. THE COMPETITION 4. - Membership is free and the deadline is February 29, There are the following sections: 1) Free Theme; 2) Fixed Theme: I M DIFFERENT FROM WHOM?". Award for best short film that responds to the proposed topic, in its wider acceptance in the value of diversity or disability, against intolerance, prejudice and stereotypes. 3) Video on the Web: Award to the best videos on Youtube; The videos can be of any type including so-called video "viral" or "lib dab". The video will be awarded in the judgment of the jury it will be considered the most original for one or more aspects. 2

3 4) Foreign Short film. The short films of foreign authors who do not adopt the Italian language or Italian subtitles must be in English or subtitled in English. 5) Short animation movie. The short animated films that do not use Italian or Italian subtitles must be in English or subtitled in English - Each short film must have a maximum duration of 25 minutes, including titles and credits for the short film section. The Jury will award the following prizes: - Prize "Kalat Nissa Golden Antenna 2016": the best short film (1 st prize absolute) 1, (Offered by the Filmic and Cultural Association "Laboratorio dei sogni" in CL) - Prize "Gessolungo": The best short film section: Free Theme - Prize "Trabonella": The Best Short Film Section: "I am different from whom?" - Prize "Tripisciano": The best Video Web - Prize "Rosso di San Secondo": The best foreign short - Prize "Redeemer": The best animated short movie In addition, the following prizes will be awarded - Best Director - Best Screenplay - Best Cinematography - Best Editor - Best Soundtrack - Best Actor/Actress 3

4 For the fourth consecutive year, in collaboration with the THEMATIC GROUP FOR CINEMA SOUND, it is established the prestigious: Prize "High Quality Sound": Finalist movies will be seen by some members of GTCS and valued by criteria connected to direct sound, noises, sound editing, music and mix. The winner will be given a plaque and a gift certificate for movie sound recording cinematographic equipment by Lambda S.r.l. The short films will be included in the site of Association. Other sections, events, screenings and awards may be added later. 5. How to Subscribe Registration Procedure TRADITIONAL POSTMAIL METHOD VERY IMPORTANT: - This traditional method is reserved only to Distribution companies who wish to send postal items or boxes containing several short films. - This mode by postmail is also permitted to those directors who live in foreign countries that have logistical difficulties in online uploading The distribution companies can also use the online mode for uploading short films- Any director may participate with a total max of 2 short films; max 1 in one film cathegory - Short films presented or awarded in other competitions, can participate except the short films that have already participated in previous editions of Kalat Nissa Film 4

5 Festival - Each short film must be sent in two copies, only in DVD format "Pal" and it will clearly indicate the short title and name of director, duration and year of creation. - It must also be accompanied by a CD containing: a brief synopsis of about 2 lines, a more detailed synopsis (at least lines), minimum 2 stills (or taken from the short), any trailer and the information (ie Author / Song Title / Performer) of all the music featured in the short film. It is recommended (not mandatory) to place a CD also containing: the curriculum of the director, the film, other stills, backstage photos, the Story- board (if any), the curriculum of the main actors, the transcription of titles and credits and all information on the implementation of short, such as a backstage video (also using an additional DVD). All material sent will be published on the site of the Association. - The registration form (one for every short envoy) must be clearly written on all pages and signed at the bottom of each page. In the event of a short film made by a minor it must be the signature of a parent. VERY IMPORTANT: - In the event that a filmaker should be finalist, he will still have to send a copy of the entry form and two copies of the DVD by postmail. The short film will also be sent through the mail: info@kalatnissafilmfestival.it through channels such wetrasfer, googlemaxi or others. - The sender sending the work, declares to be entitled to all the rights of the work and that the contents of the same do not violate any laws and that the work does not contain any libelous. In any case, the sender exempt the organization from responsibility for the content of the short screened in public. - Participants in the competition, with the inscription, authorize the Association cinematic and cultural non-profit "Laboratorio dei Sogni", organizer of the competition, according to Law 196/2003 and subsequent amendments and additions, the treatment also of computer personal data and to use the information sent for all purposes related to the competition and the events related. 6

Select and awards -The jury will award the prizes at its sole discretion. - The Prize "Kalat Nyssa Golden Antenna 2016" can not be assigned with ex aequo. - The jury may not award one or more prizes and to assign mentions and special prizes. - The directors or any delegate, not present at the awards ceremony in Caltanissetta will lose the right to the acquisition of the prize. - The names of the jury and the names of the short finalists will be announced after the expiration date of the contest. - The purpose of the event is to address the needs of cultural growth of young directors and give the greatest visibility as possible in Italy and abroad to the the best products made. - Short films submitted to the competition will be also evaluated (if you inserted authorization on the registration form) to be proposed and included in various television format (terrestrial TV, satellite, digital, web TV, etc.) for cultural and non-commercial, that is, without profit, in any case without any compensation to authors and rights holders: the author will always be mentioned. - To increase the visibility, the short films submitted (not only the awarded ones) will be put in streaming (if inserted authorization on the registration form) that are online and the author will always be quoted. - Short films submitted (not only the awarded ones) can be screened (without compensation to authors and rights holders) for educational-cultural-popular through non-exclusive distribution free from the association in promoting events and / or events 7

8 national and international partners of the Association: the author will always be mentioned. 6. General - The organization of the contest, while committed to the care and custody of the works, does not assume any responsibility for any postal delays, theft, damage or loss that may occur to before, during or after the event. - The DVD copies of the short films submitted will not be returned, but will become part of film and cultural association database "Laboratory of Dreams" born for educationalcultural and to give all the short films stored as visible as possible. 9 Additional information notes (they are part of the invitation): 1) To fill out the registration form, download it from our website in pdf format and send it or by postmail (if you are a distribution house) or by online mode for others 2) Check that each page of the registration form sent both signed: you must sign every sheet to bottom, otherwise the registration is not valid. The board has a print in 3 pages, each page must be signed at the bottom of the sheet, penalty disqualification. 3) Always insert a complete list of all the music used 4) In the registration form (page 3), the request for authorization of the streaming part is for authors who have not given permission to stream the total of their work, but in the event that their result through his short "finalists" they allow a video of a maximum of 2 minutes (depending on the length of the short film), therefore it is strongly recommended to place an official trailer or a trailer self edited. 5) In the scripts submitted for publication (in doc or pdf), always insert the title of the short film and the author's name (which is necessary for the authorship of the work) 6) You should not wait until the last day (29 February 2016), to send the shorts. 7) The organizing committee reserves the right to suspend or modify the festival for extraordinary causes. 8) The authors of the works selected for the competition will be notified by mail or by telephone within May 15, By that date will still be possible to find a complete list of selection in 2016 on the site of the Association and its partners.
