RECRUITMET IITIATIVES Date 5//4 Type of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection) Establishment of an intern program designed to assist members of the community Brief Description Of Activity WZZM internship program offers college active participation in a professional broadcast organization so they gain the work skills needed to later obtain employment in the broadcast industry. Bowen Foundation with a grant from the Gannett Foundation Media Fund in 4. This grant is for the Emma Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media for general support of media diversity initiatives including onthe-job training, mentoring, scholarships and work/study programs. The Emma L. Bowen Foundation was established by the media industry to increase access to permanent job opportunities for minority. Our goal is to provide training both onsite and off-site to allow employees the opportunity to improve their job skills and to qualify for career advancement. o. of Stations Participants 3 Participant Title ews, Sales and Technical Staff Points. During the reporting period training classes were attended by employees as follows: Summer, 4: DISC Training for 3 sales staff. The DISC trains on different leadership methods and styles that coincide with each personality type, which could help leaders be more effective. DISC has also been used to help determine a course of action when dealing with problems as a leadership team that is, taking the various aspects of each type into account when solving problems or assigning jobs. June, 4: Marketing Director attend PROMAX. This marketing conference is where the world s most innovative creative, marketers, strategists, designers and thought leaders gather to share unprecedented insights, business secrets and revolutionary tools that will help staff and the company grow. June 5-8, 4: Three employees attended the IRE conference in San Antonio, Texas. Topics included: learned Investigative reporting tips and training, database research and planning joint projects with other properties in the Gannett group.
