Facilitation: 26 taking attendance transferring grades documenting completion referring students to content experts when issues arise providing classroom management supporting technology reporting programming developments/changes or issues to a higher authority 13

14 Online, Computer-based, Blended, Etc. Instruction: Evaluating Assessing Developing curriculum Re-teaching Modifying lessons Guiding student work 27 Online, Computer-based, Blended, Etc. Instruction: 28 Requires specific endorsement in the content area AND Highly Qualified verification. Facilitation: Requires certification at the grade level the course(s) are being offered Blended? Default to INSTRUCTION 14

15 Online, Computer-based, Blended, Etc. 29 Mentor Teacher & Teacher of Record- The district must assign a TOR who may serve as the Mentor Teacher or they need both. The mentor teacher must be a professional employee of the district. The TOR must be a Michigan certified and properly endorsed teacher. Online, Computer-based, Blended, Etc. 30 Seat Time Waiver (STW)- Since all two-way communication must take place between a TOR or a mentor teacher and the pupil, and a TOR must be assigned to the pupil, it would be logical to make the TOR and the mentor one and the same. The only time that it doesn t make sense applies to 21f classes. 15

16 Online, Computer-based, Blended, Etc. 31 Use of permits under STW- A substitute permit is designed to be a temporary placement to fill a vacant position on a short-term basis. The use of a permitted substitute teacher as a mentor does not eliminate the requirement that a Michigan certified teacher, employed by the district, be assigned to the pupil as the TOR.
