Please bear in mind that we highly recommend you take exit Firenze Certosa (only present on Highway A1)as it is far the best and only easy way to reach the Florence city centre. If you are travelling on the highway A1 from Milan or Rome We recommend you take Florence s highway exit Uscita Firenze Certosa. Drive around the roundabout (almost full 360 ) and follow the signs for CENTRO (town centre). Drive up the hill, on your left you ll see the Florence s abbey the Certosa, drive through a village called Galluzzo, keep on driving one more km through an alley with lots of gasoline stations. Turn right at the traffic light. The road goes up the hill; at the second traffic light turn left (into Via Poggio Imperiale ) and drive down to Piazza di Porta Romana. Pass under the arch of the medieval city walls (there s a camera), you just entered the Via Romana. Follow the street straight into Via Maggio, pass over the Santa Trinita Bridge, keep driving straight in ahead in Via Tornabuoni. Pass a traffic light, go straight into Piazza Antinori, then make a right turn in the little street on your right side - just after a bus stop in a very narrow street - called Via degli Agli. (mind that if the bus is stopped in front of you,you should wait until it drives away and then drive on the right side of the San Gaetano Church in via degli Agli). At the STOP sign go straight ahead and enter the pedestrian zone in Via dei Pecori drive s lowly, you can see the Duomo in front of you, turn right into the second street on your right Via Roma, keep driving straight ahead, turn the second left street in Via degli Speziali, then again second left. entrance of the hotel: a wooden old door at number 11 (in blu letters), immediately after the Disney Store. Ring the bell, push the door and unload your luggage inside the door. Lock your car and come to the reception with the elevator, we ll then call the garage for you. If you are travelling on the Highway Firenze Mare (Autostrada A11) 1 itinerary: exit Firenze- Certosa (Autostrada A1) Before you reach the toll at Firenze-Nord,we suggest you take the A1 branch in the direction Roma. Next exit will be Firenze-Certosa. Take this exit ( Firenze-Certosa ): from now on follow the upper directions. 2 itinerary: exit Firenze-Nord Follow the street signs Firenze Centro. Drive all the way down on the Viale Guidoni. At the 3rd traffic light turn into a right lane and than again turn right after a fourth traffic light into Via

3 Forlanini (the Florence s University area). Drive 270 left around the roundabout going up till you ll be stopped at a traffic light. Follow the major street flow into the three alley Viale Redi. Drive all the way down, pass 2 traffic lights, once you get at the third one, cross over a big alley (Viale Belfiore ) to reach the opposite side of the street in front of you and make a left turn into Via G. Monaco. From Via Guido Monaco go straight at the traffic light and enter Via Alamanni. Pass the traffic light and the tramway path, continue straight untill the second traffic light.. Turn right into Via S.Caterina d Alessandria. At the traffic light turn left into Via della Scala.. Drive all Via della Scala, reach Piazza Santa Maria Novella and than turn right after the Loggia arcades- into Via dei Fossi.. At the end of the street go slightly left and drive on to the bridge Ponte alla Carraia and turn left again along the river on the Lungarno Guicciardini and than back again on the bridge Ponte Santa Trinita (you want to go back to the left river bank). Continue straight in Via Tornabuoni till myou reach the traffic light. If you are coming from Siena (superstrada Firenze-Siena) To drive to Florence from Siena you first need to find the beginning of the "superstrada Firenze-Siena" from the various exits of Siena. It is a 70 km ride on a national route,at the end of which you ll arrive at a big roundabout with huge fountain monument: that is a junction point where the Superstrada s and the Autostrada s exits meet. Drive around the round about (almost full 200 ) and follow the signs for CENTRO ( town centre). If you travel on the inexpensive expressway from Pisa or Livorno, expresssway Fi-Pi-Li When the expressway finishes, just proceed into the long alley Viale Etruria, till its end (more than 1 km ). Drive along the underground way and get back up in the Viale Talenti, a very busy alley, interrupted by a roundabout and by a traffic light just in Piazza Batoni. Keep driving in the Via del Sansovino till its end, than make the right turn into the narrow Via del Pignoncino, at the traffic light go straight ahead in Via della Casa. Turn left in Via Pisana and drive on the right side, you ll need very quickly to drive around a garden area in the Piazza Pier Vettori from its right side. Drive 180 around the piazza and go into Via Pisana untill you get to the ancient Porta S.Frediano. Pass under the arch of the Porta S.Frediano, drive along the Borgo S.Frediano street, pass the Piazza dei Nerli, keep driving in the second half of the Borgo S.Frediano street. At its traffic light turn left towards the river side it s called Piazza N. Sauro, make a right turn in the Lungarno Guicciardini, go left up the bridge Ponte S.Trinita, continue straight in Via Tornabuoni till the traffic light. Pass the traffic light, go straight into Piazza Antinori, then make a right turn in the little street on your right side - just after the bus stop in the very narrow street - called Via degli Agli. 5 reception with the elevator, we ll than call the garage for you. IMPORTANT : Florence historical centre is a Traffic Limited Zone (in Italian ZTL), controlled by several traffic cameras and traffic wardens. The entrances to the centre are under surveillance by cameras that register every number plate that passes below them. Residents and Tourists can enter the centre, but upon arrival it is important that you give us your number plate so that we can communicate it to the authorities and you will not be fined for entering the ZTL. Also be careful not to drive in the Bus/Taxi Only lanes, marked in yellow or you ll get fined. Car park: As parking is not permitted in the centre of Florence, Hotel Axial offers to all its clients a special rate with a nearby garage (not at all belonging to Hotel Maxim). The garage staff will take care of collecting the car and bringing it back in front of the hotel. Prices vary depending on the size of the car, from 24 Euro for small sizes to 30 Euro for larger cars. The fee covers parking until 19:00 of the next day. Garage fee must be paid directly to the garage staff when collecting the car.
