Team work is highly emphasised and is an important learning process stressed at Paris-Sorbonne University. Whether for case studies or assignments, students derive an added benefit from working alongside peers of diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. Case Studies involve giving to a group of participants (5 to 6 persons maximum), several documents reflecting the situation of a real company and related to the various management fields. Students are required to analyse and work to address specific managerial issues, suggest recommendations as if they were advising the CEO of the firm. The groups will have to present conclusions to the entire class, justifying recommendations when criticised or queried by others. At the end of the session, a professor will evaluate the entire case study. Individual assignments and research studies are aimed at developing the cognitive and intellectual autonomy of the student who will have to apply these concepts to a specific context, collect data and conduct genuine research work. Computer-based interactive business games take place in a week, after intensive training in computer skills pertinent to management. Four groups of students imitate the actual management of a company using computer-based simulation.
